So the 3rd gen airpods are basically the airpods pro without active noise cancellation right? I got the 2nd gen airpods and they always fall out my ears. I know people on here dont like silicon seals, but at least they stay in your ear and most importantly sound considerably better.

And there are a billion choices in the market for those. I have been unable to find a legit alternative to the current AirPods for those of us who don't like silicon seals. It has been nice having a choice.

Those things would pop out of my ears. That shape airpod or the old wired air buds would never stay in my ears. Maybe i have freak ears. 👂 I dunno. 🤷‍♂️ But they’re definitely not compatible with Apple airpods.

I got the AirPods Pro from amazon for 189.00 during their special a few weeks ago. The first thing I noticed was they sounded muddy to me compared to the 1st gen Airpods. The mid and bass are good but it lacks any treble and I feel looses the highs when listening to music with vocals.

I’ve tried turning off the noise cancelling and also transparency but all 3 setting are the same just too muddy sounding. I’m going to return them and get the 2ng gen AirPods. While the silicon ear tips create a great seal, the feel is not great especially when taking them out feels like part of my ear is coming out too.

All the rumours leading up to these over the past year made it sound like they were going to be designed like the Pros. I was really bummed about it as I prefer regular AirPods and hate the feel of the inner ear seal. If this pic is legit, looks like they may be smaller like the Pros, but still just hang in the ear like the regular AirPods. Let’s hope!
I think the silicone tips for the basic Airpods were just rumor reaching. The point of silicone tips in the AirPods Pro are for isolating sound for noise cancellation. No reason to do that if the base AirPods don’t have that feature.

I know the BeatsX/Flex use silicone tips but despite what folks think, Beats still operates separately from Apple.

If they have silicone ear tips, I'm not buying them. Simple as.

I shall take advantage of the Gen 2 fire sale when it comes, and stock up. I simply can't stand silicone ear-tipped earphones.
I have two pairs of ear buds. One in ear and one out of ear. If you don’t like one that goes inside your ear canal, try the galaxy buds live. They are awesome. I’ve seen prices at $45 at Costco since they are discounting them to move them.

I agree. I've already purchased two sets of the current style. They just don't fit properly no matter what size tip I use.

I tried the Pros over the summer for my runs and the silicone caused pain in my ears 10 minutes into wearing. I bought other expensive tips after research and still issues. I returned them and at the end, ended up with an ear infection I had to take antibiotics for.

I have the Pros and the AirPods 2. I MUCH PREFER the AirPods 2. The Pros create a pressure seal inside my ear causing my jaw to hurt after awhile. Any muscle movement in my jaw, I can hear it in my ear causing fatigue - not to mention that having something impacted in my ear causes pain after a few hours.

Running with the AirPods Pro - I could hear every impact my feet made on the cement (with or without noise cancellation). Just touching the AirPods Pro in my ears sounds like boxing my ears (impact).

Granted... I'm very sensitive to bass - always have been. I can hear bass that most people can't. Makes living in an apartment pretty miserable but ... anyway - so I may be an edge case.

Much prefer the rest in ear AirPods. I can jog with them, swing my head as hard as I can and they won't fall out. They cause no fatigue.

I got my AirPods Pro for airplane travel (as normal AirPods don't work for me on a plane). Of course Covid hit and haven't had the opportunity to travel with them.

I will be very bummed if the AirPods 3 are in ear seal.

Looks like 2nd gen with silicon tips..btw, I can NEVER use in-ear headphones. 1. It hurts my ears because I’ve unusual ear-holes 2. It keep falling off specially when I am jumping or running. I only used over-ear headphones like AirPods Max, Sony XM series or Bose 700 to named a few.

I couldn't either. I tried with the 3 rubbers and I did not settle, they hurt a lot after minutes ... that's why I didn't keep them.

Surprised by the silicone hate but guess everyone is different. Personally I have been buying silicone in ear buds for 2 decades and happy that these are. They fit fine.

That said, the build quality has been poor (three returns) and the battery life despite replacements is now half what they were when new. Battery replacement is far more important to me.

I purchased the AirPod Pro when they first came out for the noice cancellation. I tried all three tips but just did not like the silicone. I returned them within an hour. Sticking with the 2nd Gen.
I waited the 14 days, I tried anyway ... but I couldn't ... so, I keep the second gen
