Some people cannot handle the pressure that a fully sealed earbud puts on their ear canal. Others do not like being cut-off from the outside environment.

I guess contact lenses and glasses are 99% the same as well ?
Apple users often dont tolerate having something fully sealed in their ears because after decade, the habits of using earpods...
I wear in-ears before getting Airpods, after that, its pain in the ass when i attempt to try these
Same thing happened with Airpods Pro, at first glance, it was a bit uncomfortable (but less than full in-ears earbuds) then i get used to wear it
I had motion sickness when using ANC, it took me like 3 weeks to be fully accustomed, motion sickness / dizziness has gone completely
I sold my Airpods for my Airpods Pro without intention to go back
The sound quality is far from superior on Pro
Sorry for Airpods classic lovers, the sound quality is meh

Plus, the actual features of the AirPods Pro (Noise Canceling, Transparency) go hand in hand with silicon tips. A version of those without those features makes absolutely no sense.
This is an odd argument... Every company that makes headphones have earbuds with silicone tips and I'm guessing the vast majority of them don't have ANC. They're not just for ANC, they're for passive noise cancelling and sound quality.

Funny how China will make a copy for a fraction of the cost and will sound the same. I don't know about the AirPods Pro but the regular AirPods sounds exactly the same as the original.

Oh the country is selling its own brand now?

Hopefully these actually sound good. I can’t buy these with the sound quality they have. I’ll stick to my Sony in ears till apple can make something sound like it’s not 20$
You can try alternatives, i have bought Creative Outlier Air V2 and Cambridge Audio Melomania 1, both have greater sound quality than Airpods Pro (it costs like 70/80$) keep in mind its heavy bass in you r trying to compare with Airpods
However i m still stick with Airpods Pro and bough them as secondary pair of earbuds (but i had one faulty from Creative, the 2nd earbud was faulty and Melomania 1 doesnt fit in my ear, it falls off)

And many companies continue to make headphones that do not have silicone tips (Apple included). This caters to both segments of people - no they will not have ANC.

I personally prefer silicone or foam tips, but my wife just gets dizzy when there is anything in her ear canal. Her's is not a unique situation.

Its because of inner ear
I got dizziness because of in ear + anc
I can wear headphone + anc without feeling dizzy
Its temporary effect which can disappear overtime

After reading this thread, I feel REALLY fortunate that Pros have "just worked" for me. Fit, sound, comfort, all of it is great by my ears–I liked my AirPods, but LOVE my AirPods Pro. My only complaints are ANCgate, which is better since 2D27 but still not as good as when I first bought them, and the stem controls being a bit wonky/glitchy at times. I preferred the tap on my OG AirPods but Pro controls don't bother me too much. I actually think the in-ear design makes tapping on pros the way you would regular AirPods kind of uncomfortable.

But that said, everyone's ears are different. Hopefully Apple keeps the original design around at a lower cost for those who prefer it.

I like my 2s, but they don't stay in doing anything except sitting making a phone call.
Walking, running - they fall out, without fail.

For a run, I have to wear them backwards (L in right, R in Left) which looks a little odd - I don't especially care since when I run I always wear my hood up, but jeez, just some that fit and stay in would be nice.
They fit far worse than even the standard earpods did!

I use gen 1 air pods exclusively for taking phone calls for work. I like them over the Pros because of how easy they are to slip out of the case and into my ears. The APP I use when I want to listen to music or isolate myself, but they're not as quick/easy to get out of the case or sealed into my ears. It'll be a bummer if the next gen air pods have silicone tips like the Pros, but I guess that would also mean the current gen would go on sale for a steep discount so I could pick up another pair

I would normally agree with a lot of you that don't want the silicone tips in your ears, however, if you have not tried the Airpods Pro, you may not know that they have figured out a way to equalize the pressure in the ear AND also to use the built in mics to pass the natural sound around you into the mix. These 2 things combined completely erase the feeling of the tips in my ear and remove the negative opinions I had before about silicon tipped earbuds.

Just curious, how many hours do you use your Airpods Pro every day? I bought the Pro but later returned them and prefer the classic Airpods. I use them easily 5+ hours per day and prefer open design for better breathability.

The transparent mode in the Pros is definitely nice as you say, but it obviously will never sound as natural as when using the regular Airpods.

Apple just release an Air Pods 2 with standard case for $49 and you’ll sell a billion of them, no need for redesign. :p
You can just get EarPods for that price or something off Amazon. It’s better to dump milk in the river that you can’t sell than to give it away, because you will further saturate the market.

When I had the pros ( since returned them) I was listening to music on my phone and my timer went off to let me know my 15 min break was over and when the timer went off it almost blew my ear drum. The sound of the timer was twice the volume of my music. I didn’t like that at all. I couldn’t figure why the volume of the timer was so much louder than my music. The pros create such a seal in your ear canal and with noise cancelling on, I swear I thought it blew my ear off. I’m going to order the airpods 2.

if you have ears?

Yup. Especially ones that don’t have the necessary shape as all ears are are different.

The vast majority of customers don’t experience that problem as the success of the devices clearly show. Luckily fixed with the Pro models who have exchangeable tips.

I own both airpods and AirPod pros.
pros sound better. The airpods are better at everything else. Most importantly they fit in the ears and don’t fall out for no reason. Pro ANC is cool but they don’t work that well once they’re on the floor.
also the stem controls on the pro are awful. Half the time you turn on anc or hang up a call instead of what your trying to do.
