as someone else said i hope they add something a bit special to this WWDC. instead of the show just ending with no major cool announcements. Besides this is like the biggest Apple event of the year.. Ive been waiting a while for it. Atleast they're letting it be live streamed this year, last year i was just watching a blog which kinda sucked. 5 hours 7 minutes to go!

Depends what you mean by "special," but don't get your hopes up. Likely more of the same incrementalism & feature creep. It is the biggest Apple of the year... so far. This fall's will be more relevant. Everyone gets unrealistically hyped up about WWDC then feels let down when the keynote ends even though Apple does move the ball forward -- it's just a running play not the exilirating Hail Mary.

And I'm wondering in what sneaky ways it'll make hardware run slower. I'm surprised so many people embrace the new free, yearly (and virtually compulsory) update regime when it's quite obvious that it serves no purpose other than to quickly degrade older hardware. Apple want us to change Macs as often as we change our phones.

I see we have a Luddite among us. If you don't like upgrading you don't have to. All the s/w that works with your computer now will always be compatible as long as you never upgrade anything on it. Just keep it frozen in time as a loyal Luddite would. I mean it serves no purpose to upgrade anyway so why not just sit back and laugh at all the people that do?

Oh cool, Jony Ive discovered Tiger. Everything he makes software wise is ass backwards.

Next year 10.11 will come out and all the icons will look like OS 9. Because, you know, modern.

Show me an old OS that looks like iOS 7. I'll be waiting.

(protip: you can't)

I totally believe this. My iPhones used to slow down to the point where it was so frustrating, I was almost forced to upgrade (I remember when messages would take up to 30 seconds to open on my 3GS). But microchips don't slow down with age, so it was clearly each update that did it.

My 1st gen Apple TV has never been updated (except perhaps in the first few months) and it still works absolutely fine.

hmm, I do believe this is true and 100% Apple's intention for iPhones & iPads.
For iPhones they want you to jump every other new version. from 4 to 5 or 4s to 5s.
For iPads it's more like a 'every 3 years' cycle, I believe that iPad2 will now fall out of grace with the new iOS.

for laptops and computers however, they rely too much on Intel's (& Nvidia's) architecture. So it's not entirely Apple's decision, if Intel changes architecture every 2 year, it's hard for Apple to optimize software every time for older hardware.

Unless this is a REALLY old Cinema Display, I'm not aware of any current Mac hardware that has an apple under the screen like this. New hardware?

Plus, if you don't like it, you can always downgrade Macs to a previous OS, unlike iOS devices.

It was going so well until they got to the dock. I love the 3D dock, but I suppose I will get used to the new one.

The new Finder icon looks terrible, though. Hoping that isn't the final version.

I think the only thing for me that makes osx not look like iOS is the dock icons, why can't they get rid of the hedious slant on them and just go with a uniform look. Looks great when icons match and it makes so much sense i did like most and replaced dock icons, now i don't spend forever search for icons because messages looks like messages and not something else.

Please apple just piss a few people off and go with iOS icons.

The rest of osx is refined, the only issue i have is the cotton/cloth effect that needs to go!

I suspect that it is an older Cinema Display.

See article.

Based on dates shown in the images, the photos were taken on March 24. As a result, there may have been substantial changes since that time, perhaps including new icons for the various Mac apps as they have moved through the redesign process.

Finder icon looking to be a part of the dock great idea. Now dock is komplett
:apple: for the people

So now it's confirmed a fake, we still haven't seen leaks of iOS 8 or OS X 10.10.

Seems Apple have cracked doubling down secrecy on software but not hardware.

The original pictures were not confirmed fake. An obviously fake image was.

Like I often say at work, a lot of people are paid to change things with the objective of making things better. Their bonus is based on change, not really on making things work better.

Pretty hard for any company to crack down on hardware leaks, especially when there are so many pieces being manufactured in different locations. At least with software, that can be kept in house and behind closed doors. No way Apple could double down on hardware.

If this is a real redesign, there's not going to be nearly enough for people to be angry about.

Were you reminding yourself of this in the Tiger days? Because it's essentially the same style.

I didn't use apple products at that time. Looking at screen shots of OSX Tiger, that OS looks outdated and ugly too.

I can say, unequivocally, that this OS "leak" is simply ugly. There really is no defending it. It makes Windows 8 look like a work of art in comparison.
