Intriguing stuff.

I can't wait to see what Apple has in store for all of us. I have no doubt whatever changes Apple is bringing to OS X will be for the better for everyone, and will be embraced by all.

These enhancements to the OS X experience will only continue to drive Mac adoption as we continue to erode Microsoft's lead with the traditional computing platform.

I can see a time when Apple will dominate the desktop and mobile markets.

Apple's best days are still to come.

Amen. I agree with you 110%

Im more worried about the device it is running on. Doesn't Look like anything to me that apple currently has in their lineup. The Gray rim with an apple logo close to the screen? MBA dont have that. Everything else has black trim.

I use a Mac at home, but I use a Windows 7 PC at work (fwiw, I've never actually owned a PC). But one definite advantage to the PC's implementation of their 'dock' is that when you hover over an app (e.g. Firefox, Excel, etc.) you actually can see smaller, live images of the windows running under that particular app. This seems far superior to the Mac's version where you have to enter Mission Control and, even then, you're presented with multiple layers for the same app represented, as opposed to the side-by-side images of your open windows in W7.

there's also 'application windows' (system prefs-> mission control-> application windows).. which will expose only the open windows of a given app..

via the dock— right click the app icon -> show all windows.

Yosemite probably won't run on my '09 MP :(

There is no physical reason for that to be the case. They cannot play the 64bit card anymore, GPU and CPU issues cannot be claimed.

Only an artificial self imposed restriction will stop Mac OS X.10 running on anything. That currently runs Mavericks.

I would like to think that they would not do such a thing, however, history says difference.

I thought people would have accepted the flat iOS7 style by now. OS X was always going to be redesigned in a similar fashion.
I thought apple would have accepted the flat iOS7 style was a mistake by now. OS X was always going to be ruined in a similar fashion. Now show me what I've been complaining about a whole year in advance. And what others have been cheering about without having seen any of it. One more hour of waiting for the horror or bliss that will be OS X Yosemite.

That's one of the many points where they dumbed down the OS since Snow Leopard. Check this out, this is Exposé in "clear" mode (= 10.6 version):

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you both seem to be unaware of the fact that window grouping can be turned off in the preferences, right? And if you hover over a given window and hit space, it gives you a larger view of it so you can much better recognize its content than from the miniature live images in Windows.

I'm pretty sure that that is one of the older Cinema Displays (The aluminum, matte one). They had a grey (aluminum) bezel with a silver Apple on the bottom center located near the screen.

Well, I can hope!

I don't think it was a mistake at all. It was different, but by and large the move made sense in order to give iOS a fresh look. Expect to see some tweaks in iOS 8, but the flat look is probably here for a while.

I'm hoping we get an open beta of 10.10.

If not, well, I guess I'll just have to come up with some way to get it ;)

To each his/her own I guess. I love iOS 7, you hate it. Regardless it'll be an exciting keynote.

To all you people who don't get why so many people cling to skeumorphic interfaces:
It's because it's simpler to use – and albeit not "intuitive" in an absolute sense, it's far more intuitive than generic "flat" interfaces that don't give any visual cues, that don't show any similarities to real-world objects we know.
The human brain doesn't evolve at the pace computers do:

I'm studying computer science with HCI (human-computer interaction) mixed in and this is nearly a direct quote of what our lecturer brought up right in his first lecture.

Ooooooo maybe they will do a preview to MM or aTV, like they did with the nMP last year. I need to see new hardware.

Hopefully OS X 10.10 brings some new and useful features. And I stress the word useful

Here's a better pic of the new icons:

Could be worse. Still too many circles. Stylized, but more detail than iOS. And no terrible gradients, thank goodness.
