I'm happy as long as the iPad gets a RAM upgrade. Seriously, can't look at different tabs without it reloading.

Well if A8 won't be quad at least on 6L and on Air 3
and will just have 1GB then i see my money going on an old AIR and on
an old 5S.
No way i will spend more to have ..almost the same.. .

Do people believe Apple is holding back the RAM size because of the cost ($10.45) or because Apple is a control freak?

It couldn't ever be the result of a carefully calculated engineering decision based on optimizing the entire device - because that is so un-Apple, right?

Then the calculation is wrong. 1GB isn't enough now and won't be enough with iOS 8.

Completely agree. But if you complain about size then you'll be told to switch your lifestyle from storing music, photos and videos, to streaming them from various other sources.

My kingdom for a 128gb iPhone, decent battery life and more memory. Apple are supposed to be the premium brand in this but I'm having to make way too many compromises.

Apple may be a 'premium product', but they have never competed on terms of 'being the ones with the biggest specs' (possibly with exception of the Mac Pro). It just isn't what they do.

I wonder if this leak is related to the iwatch. Or could this be a separate storage medium for iPhones for caching/security relating to mobile payments

I really want an iphone 6. But its crap like this that keeps me from buying an iphone. Hope this isnt true.

My gs4 has 2gb ram. I'm not downgrading to 1gb.

Thinking this isnt true since iphone 6 is gaining a bigger screen I cant see apple not upgrading the ram.

I also own an S4 and I will not be switching to iPhone unless it comes with a MINIMUM of 2GB RAM. The S4 is awesome, BTW. It's very thin, has a wonderful 1080p 5" display, battery lasts for 2 days with 6+ hours of screen-on time, and I bought it for only $99 a mere month after it came out via Verizon upgrade! Apple really wowed me with the iOS 8 and Yosemite features like Handoff and Continuity but if they don't deliver on the hardware side then I'll choose to stick with my S4.

LMAO! What another Apple joke. Lets look forward to the 6s with 2gb. Note 4 will have 4gb. SAD!

why don't you wait for the actual announcement before listening to a sketchy diagram from a rumors website.

Well that seems a bit silly. How about waiting until September 9th to make that decision.

Indeed so. This fraction-of-a-schematic-which-really-could-be-anything-as-it's-only-showing-a-ram-chip is "news"? MR must really be scraping the barrel, as is the norm for journalists worldwide.

Also, to people putting far, FAR too much emphasis on their comments by using excessive exclamation marks, when even one would have been unnecessary, I have this short video for you; you need this:

Just HOW can people keep forgiving apple's failures?? Since I got my Note 3, there has never been a website reloaded unintentionally on my phone. It's such a delight to surf the Web and do other things at once on that phone. And STILL people are claiming the iPhone to be the best surfing experience. Apple is so deep in to their fanboys it's scary.

Cool story Bro!

They probably did this so they can manage to get only slightly less battery life than before out of the 1,8Ah battery.

You are right. Nobody but the saddest of fanboys cares about Apple anymore. Samsung already won the war.

Reloading webpages is an unforgivable sin. It's why Apple are losing huge amounts of money and will be bankrupt soon.

I really hope they aren't doing this. Lately I have been doing a lot of research and my options are completely open at this point on what phone I am upgrading to. Just might switch to Android this time. Waiting to see what every one announces in Sept.

It's not you, it's the app developers that are doing it wrong.

Great. I own an iPad Air and the RAM is just insufficient.
Apps keep reloading while multitasking . I often lose progress and need to retype stuff, like for instance I was searching tyres on ebay and set all the parameters for my car .
I switched to safari to look up something. Switched back to ebay and it relaunched the ebay app and I had to do all the search again.

That's just two (!) apps ....

But I guess its ok for the iSheep. Clearly I am using the device wrong. And 1 GB of RAM is more than enough.
But if apple releases an iphone 6s with 2 GB RAM. Then we will praise them to heaven... The competition will have at least 3GB RAM by the time, but you know... 2GB will be more than enough right? ....

At first I was like , then I was like

Nicely done.

"Chart"? That's an electronic schematic of a POP ("Package On Package") RAM chip - it is not a "chart", and showing an isolated area of a HUGE schematic, showing a RAM chip, proves what, exactly?

POP RAM is a RAM chip BGA reflowed on top of another IC - it's hardly new, OR exclusive to Apple. Raspberry Pi uses this design, too.

This cropped area of a schematic could come FROM ANY PRODUCT...

Macrumors, you're a plum.

Move along now...

This actually seems correct. I don't know though so I'm going to keep angrily/disappointingly yelling for no reason!

The above comment may contain traces of irony. (and probably nuts).

Sidenote: Look at Samsung's earnings and its direct competitor Xiaomi (spelling?).

This is why Samsung is in trouble. They sell generic Android phones.

No-one is interested in their fluffy BS. They just force it on people..

Alright guys looks like we can stop ranting now.

Update 7:19 AM: As noted in our forums, the schematic's references DDR and NAND suggests that it more likely refers to some aspect of the device's flash memory rather than DRAM included within the A8 chip.

*phew*, I was really beginning to believe that the iPhone 6 would only ship with 1 measly GB of RAM. Thank the Apple gods (old and new)!

Then the calculation is wrong. 1GB isn't enough now and won't be enough with iOS 8.

Yeah, no way these spidermonkeyers have any idea what they're talking about after hundreds of hours of testing and years of experience designing one of the most successful consumer devices in history. They're just wrong. No other way around it.

In case you were wondering, I'd love 2 gigs of ram in my phone, and I've got a suspicion that this rumor is complete bunk. But whatever the case, neither of us is qualified to make the statement you made.

Safari shouldn't crash if they just use a proper pagefile emulating ram from the ssd (flash memory or whatever type), improving the ssd's transfer rate should be enough
The flash-memory in these devices is slow for these kind of things. Really slow. REAAAAALLY slow.
