Gold just looks tacky on most things. It will only appeal to those millionaires who have no taste and like to coat everything in gold.
This might just be the corniest move that Apple has made that I'm aware of. The shark has unofficially been jumped.

Likening it to the iPod touch makes it feel a bit more acceptable. Although I always felt that was more a green-yellow.
In any case, it gives a good impression of what we can expect.
I'd still like to see all the 5S phones get some different 'metallic' colours, the white going a bit darker, and the black going a bit more blue. would be a nice contrast to the candy colours of the 5C.

haha brilliant! Obviously it will have to be a Chinese Elvis as the gold iPhone is targeted at the Chinese market.

Oye! Another step backwards, first plastic, now champagne gold? This company has no direction anymore.
That's why I don't understand all the comments about rappers, celebrities, end of Apple and hate it etc. This is for the Asian markets where this colour is very popular. Wouldn't surprise me if they sell more of this than black or white in China.
If that's the case, then Apple jumped the shark when they sold iMacs with stupid little hippy flower patterns on the case.
It's not like Apple is forcing you to buy a "champagne" phone instead of a black or white one.
BUT OMG! OTHER PEOPLE WILL BUY THEM AND THAT MAKES ME ANGRY ON THE INTERNET!
I predict that, in real life, people will hold these and think "neat." They won't yell at the people standing next to them in line for looking at the phone.
