You're a joke. You think NFC matters when ios7 brings in airdrop? AirDrop is so much better.

So you think that NFC is only used for file transfers just because you've seen people doing that with Samsung phones in their ads? Just FYI, NFC is quite popular outside of US and can be used for things like payments and public transport. Try doing that with Airdrop.. :D

You can get covers for the iPhone in any colour you like - why are people getting excited about this? This is not an innovation, although Apple will certainly market it as revolutionary.

Adding more colors is pointless until they make the case more resistant to scratching, so that a case isn't needed.

So I guess then the Moto X isn't innovative either. :D

Actually the phone on the right looks really nice. Lets hope the real thing is more this shade and not yellowish gold.

To me this says "We have run out of innovations, and are taking the easy way out: a new color".

This is not a good sign.

This is what I imagine Steve having said to this idea:

Cook: Marketing reports show that we need to generate more excitement for the new iPhone 5S. It's been recommended we do a gold colored phone, and break from traditions of our brand, the rappers, celebrities, and grandmothers will love it.

Steve: How about instead of trying to make a product which isn't exciting enough better, we improve the actual product.

Cook: But the product is ready to ship. We're having initial runs made.

Steve: We're going to throw out all the the gold colors iphones we've made. I don't want a single one to see the light of day.

Cook: But that's a waste of $137 million dollars in production costs

Steve: And how much do you think the value our iPhone brand is worth? 500 Billion dollars. Doing anything to cheapen that even by a fraction of a fraction of a percent. Even by 0.1% means that we are losing money. I want the gold iPhone destroyed and the person who approved this ridiculous business shortcut fired.

Cook: I see your point.

Can't innovate, my ass.

This is the major improvement of 5S comparing to 5?

No, this is a different colour.

WTF? It's a different colour, that's all. Once the first ten million are sold, Samsung will copy it, and then you will call it "innovation".

I'd buy one in Hello Kitty pink if they've fixed the anodizing process to make it a little more scratch resistant.

I wouldn't :D

If it came in "Hello Kitty pink" I'd hope it would be less scratch resistant

Meh. I'll try to withhold judgement until I see it in person.

Regardless, I really hope they don't give this model features that the others don't have. If the 128GB rumors are true, I'll be annoyed if only certain colors have it.

The fact it looks just like the 5 means I don't want it regardless of what color it offers. Mainly because 18 months or so the "all new" 6 will release.

"We're out of ideas, folks, so between the flash and no substance iOS7, surely this glittery gold color will distract you from the fact that you're buying virtually the same phone we released last year."

You are going to post this in every thead about the gold iPhone arent you?

Hoping they'll realize there are way too many separate entries about the stupid gold phone. Trying to send a message...

i think the gold looks great. i've always owned back iPhones, but the new OS really seems to look good with a white iPhone, all of those bright, pastel-ly colors just don't seem to mesh with black. I have a feeling when you see iOS7 with the gold phone it might look really nice.

If I were to complain about something, it's that I think the 5C plastic iPhone looks even better than the metal/glass 5/5S.

We'll all be able to make better assumptions in a few weeks hopefully.

Hmm an iPhone for those with no taste, are in gangs, or in rapper music, or like to pop a cap in ya ass, or you want to make up for the lack something else.

Yeah, nice one Apple....

IF true.

Would you happen to be in the Deen family?

I'm sure Apple's designers will come up with a lovely shade of gold.
My question is, how will it wear? I just have a feeling that gold will really show scratches and dings.
