I ca definitely see a chip there.

It's only fraud if they explicitly asked you if it was damaged and you explicitly said no. I doubt they bothered asking.

As for the MacRumors comment... I lol'd.

I 100% guarantee they asked the condition . He had to lie cause the truth means they would not have let him get apple care

They didn't ask me anything but for my serial and credit card number. I'm not going to replace is for that little crack that doesn't effect anything but I'm glad I have it now if this is a peak at what's to come with this thing.

Its none of our business what he does or does not do. He's wounded! its up to him, i would do the same, they have had enough money off me. Get off his case. Its a design flaw of the watch, wether its sapphire or not, there is no protection on the curved bit of the glass on all the watch versions.

I don't let the moral crusaders around here scare me. It's a personal choice I'm just not sure only 2 replacements is enough for this glass if it broke that easy

I'd do it, this would annoy me everyday. Light scratches i can deal with, but a chip on something so new, i'd do it straight away.

You now know how fragile it can be, so you'll be even more careful now! just if theres a next time obviously your on your last one with Apple. If it happens the third time thats when you see if you can get 3rd party insurance or 3rd party repair (should hopefully be out of warranty on the 3rd instance and parts available on the web etc).

its only $69 in USA to have your watch looking back as new.

Also in UK, we can add gadgets/watches to our home insurance, maybe thats an option if you have it??

Sell it, someone said it in this thread already, and treat yourself to an SS version.

Already damaged ion-x glass

I really dont understand these people encouraging to make an insurance fraud. If you get caught, it may affect the rest of your life. E.g. you got caught trying an insurance fraud, then buying a new car and trying to get an extra insurance. You are on the black list and not getting any extra insurances for your car. And you can continue the list of incurances...

I have AC+ and went in the day I noticed it. They said there was nothing they could do and were not set up yet to do the $99 s been replacement (or what ever the cost was) so I had to use one of my claims to get the phone replaced...

Wow that sucks :(
Maybe you want to give it another try? According to what the genius told me it's not unusual that this may occur to your screen and that it's definitely eligible for under warranty replacement. He told me the best way to check if it's eligible is to see if there is a single or few slim cracks or if the whole screen is completely shattered. If the latter is the case it's probably not eligible for a replacement under warranty, single or few small cracks are not as likely to be the consequence of a physical exposure such as a drop but rather a result of too much tension being on the glass of the screen.

Its up to him, obviously I wouldn't be encouraging him to burn his house down to claim house insurance. but this is very minor, he wouldn't get "caught" its almost impossible in this instance. Apple would just take payment, no questions asked.

I'm telling you light graze didn't even smash into it. I was shocked myself like you I've put my phones thru torture and they've never broken that's why I got the sport to begin with

You probably hit it in exactly the right place for it to crack. I have a Nokia Lumia for work and it dropped maybe 2" onto my desk by hit a corner just right and shattered the glass. I couldn't believe it...my iPhone has taken much worse and been fine.

I thought I would be fine because I've never scratched or shattered an iPhone screen but as people have pointed out iPhones aren't strapped to our wrists. I was coming upstairs from my basement and my watch lightly grazed the concrete wall. It was literally nothing. I couldn't believe when I looked and saw the corner cracked. I should of went with SS I'm pissed. Anyone know what apple charges to replace a screen? Inc won't bother until stock is more abundant prob get this fixed and sell it and buy SS

That sucks man. I've done that exact thing multiple times with my Rolex "daily driver." I've grazed the brick on the outside of my house, the drywall on the inside of the house, and the steel beam in a stairwell.

Every single time, I think "OH CRAP!" - but then look at my watch and there's not a scratch on it. So I knew sapphire screen was the right answer for me.

(Not that my little story helps you, sorry about that. But thought it might be helpful if anyone else is on the fence...)

Well I was on the fence on whether I wanted AppleCare+. Reading this thread made me pull the trigger and buy it. Thanks OP.

You need this brah

Someone mentioned in another thread they had a broken phone screen and called apple and since it was new they offered him Apple care. If it was me I would get it. And call back a couple weeks later and get it replaced.

I would hold out until you can buy a replacement sapphire glass cover, then use the guides on iFixit. You'll have the stronger, scratch resistant aluminum body AND the scratch resistant sapphire glass.

Highly considering doing this. Do we know if the two different displays are compatible for a swap like this? ie, installing sapphire crystal in place of Ion-X?
