This is irrelevant. First of all I'm an android user, but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in conversations like this, or not interested in these products. Click bait for what? For this discussions and for these products. You should read all my recent post and will see I'm active in at least 10-15 threads right now. Do I bother who's threads are?

The only way Apple will ever slow down on their price escalation is when customers stop buying the more expensive Iphones.
Stop buying completely or what we’ve seen over the past 12 months where the XR has been by far their most popular phone? I think the amount of effort that has gone into the iPhone 11 this year shows Apple are more than aware it’s their mainstream phone to be honest.

Compared to pro and max. Not last years XR.
For 300$ you get way more with the pro. This is my feeling based on the event.
For the moment we know about display, camera and stainless steel. But let's see what appears on the next days. Also design wise. Imagine walking in the mall with your phone over the face and others see 2 cameras instead of 3 and sticking to your face a POOR sticker just like those stickers when you have Samsung and the ones with apples stick it to your face.
I can assure you nobody cares what phone you are using and nobody is assuming you are poor if you’re using an iPhone XR or 11. That’s ridiculous what you’ve written there. The corporate world is full of XR’s, 8+’s etc and nobodies wage packet is representative by the phone they are using. That sounds like your own insecurity to me.

I think last year's Apple iPhone's sluggish sales brought down this year's iPhone's price tag to $699.

Possibly but more likely the weak pound.

Which is entirely down to brexit! If we’re going to do this to ourselves as a country we might as well own it and accept that prices are going to go up.

To the OP - no it’s not a scam, like the XR before it its the best value iPhone out there and makes the upper tier phones seem the real rip-off. For me the real price to look at is when you move up from an intolerably small amount of storage like 64gb and find you can either get the iPhone 11 with a perfectly doable 128gb for £779 (a modest £50 extra on the base model) or have to jump straight to 256gb Pro for an eye watering £1199, that to me is a bit of a scam.

Possibly but more likely the weak pound. I don’t care about the screen on my phone personally and wouldn’t spend more than £700 on an iPhone as there are plenty of decent options below that.

‘they are covering the fact that if the UK drops out with no deal the pound will likely plummet for a while.

I really think pro and max worth the money, but 11 don't.

‘More like they will think, look at that nugget who paid $300 for a smaller phone with a telephoto lens (they can’t see the stainless steel as you have it in a case), or a nugget who paid $400 extra for the bigger phone, both of these with 64GB of storage. So in actual reality most folk will buy the 256GB phones so will be paying 550 extra for the max and 450 for the 11. When you pay close to the cost of 2 iPhone 11’s you have to ask yourself, is it worth it??

Of course and this means people adjust their spending to suit. Price increases mean lower sales ultimately, although the 11 is £20 cheaper than last years XR, it just doesn’t align with the dollar pricing. The AW has remained the same and the iPad has also gotten cheaper.

4GB of RAM so they can kill iOS update support for it and the other 4GB devices in 4 years and people will just sit around quietly nodding that a phone can't live without 6-12 gigs and even when the iPhone with 12GB RAM has it's iOS support killed hilariously fast it will be accepted that it didn't have enough RAM or TFLOPS or whatever.

4 years is a long time in the smartphone world. I doubt they’ll stop support but it may be a little slow. You never know though as my 8+ is a 2 year old design and still as fast as it was in 2017. Software optimisation is evolving all the time.

of course it is, except for camera and processor it has worse specs than 10s and even two years old 10

Actually I think that the "Pro" models are more questionable as to the worth of their names.

To have to bone up $300+ extra dollars for an OLED screen & a third (telephone) lense is a bit crazy.

- (-, as in negative) You only get 4GB RAM, which limits its service life; even some iPad Pros get 6GB RAM
- should have been USB-C, to fall in line with the Mac line, iPad Pro line, and provide a standard cable
- should have gotten a ProMotion display by now, for a "Pro" model
- should have gotten some kind of Pencil support by now, for a "Pro" model

OLED screens should be standard across the line by now, after 2 previous years.

But we cannot fault Apple for lack of 5G; 5G just isn't ready yet, and won't be for a year, maybe two.

Let me better explain how I feel.
Bought, back in july the new LG V50, at first I had an offer for 1100£, but in the end got it for 840$.
The point is that I could have bought the LG G8, which is like the 11 compared to 11 Pro, for literally half the price. But I choosed the Pro version. Therefore this is my analogy regarding this thread.
Because after you'll purchase the 11 and have it in your hands and also have the extra 299$ in your pocket, wouldn't you regret that you have the money and an inferior product?

I don't think it's a scam at all. I do think Apple should eliminate the 64GB choices on all models and make 128GB the minimum. It's been discussed and griped about before (12 months ago to be exact!) but it really does feel like a way to soft-force people to pay up for the next tier of storage. The margin on the must be enormous for Apple.

Wait what? Now 64gb isn’t enough? 32 still works with me. I have a 64gb XR and I’m consistently sitting around 17gb. Just surprised that the gb minimum start is still a thing to some. ‍♂️ Just saying. Good luck

It's an iPhone XR in disguise.. w/ a 15% speed boost... woot.. lame update

Speed boost, $100 cheaper, 1 hour more battery and an ultrawide camera. If you have a XR, maybe it isn't worth it. But if you are still on a 8 or less, it is quite a massive upgrade.

64gb isn’t enough. If it works for you great, but I’ve been rocking 128gb since my 6S and have enough cruft that anything less would be a major headache.

My last 64gb device was an iPhone 5 (not 5S) and I spent the last year of ownership desperately trying to manage storage on it; never again.

That’s funny, seeing as they did not increase their prices this year, and actually decreased the price on one product.

OMG the horror!

I mean wow... nobody cares what phone someone else uses. However, if it must be used a status symbol I'll make sure when I go to the mall I'll pull right up to the front door in my Hemi Challenger or GSX-R and take a few selfies with my 8 Plus just so other people can say "look at that poor guy."

So what are the primary differences between the 11 and 11 Pro?

- Screen (OLED vs LCD, higher pixel density on Pro)
- Third camera on Pro.

What other real substantial differences are there between the 2 in terms of hardware / capability?

I'm honestly considering going from the XS Max to the 11 (non-Pro). Only thing I can think I will occasionally notice is the lack of "telephoto" lens.

The biggest USP for the XR was the enormous battery life. That is not unique any more because the Pro´s have much improved in that regard. This is a little sad.....
