Alumacase

Fusionwerkz emailed me and said the final production design of the RAW does NOT have a hole in the back.

Still going to get the alumacase as soon as it is available!!

Why do so many people not like a hole in the back of the case that shows the apple? I'm not a "brand whore" who likes to show off his devices, but I've always liked cases with the logo showing. What's wrong with it?

IMO it makes the case look ugly with a big hole there

I guess I see it differently. I see solid backed cases as plain and generic looking. And in my experience with cases (if you read any of my posts, you know that I am a case whore...already nearing 30 for the iPhone 4 and have over 65 for my 3G/3GS), people that see my phone always seem to prefer the cases with the logo showing (typically a circular hole in the case) over solid backed cases.

Yeah it is a different look and I can see how that's appealing to some people. For me, I originally thought I wanted to use a case and I'm now finding out that I prefer to use the phone with just screen protectors and things like the spectra wraps. This won't keep me from trying something that's more for show than protection (e.g. Vapor, Alumacase) but at the end of the day I'm pretty sure I'll end up using no case at all.

I agree on the prototype pictured above that the hole doesn't look good. One, it's not big enough, and two, the logo doesn't even look centered in it. And it looks kind of odd with the circle contrasting the squarish hole around the camera and flash. That hole should be more oval, and the logo "hole" should be a bit larger. That might work. But I don't like the brushed bare aluminum with a white back showing, either. I think that particular case would look much better on a black iPhone.

And I say all of this about a logo "hole" being preferred, and my newest addition due to be here by Wednesday is a solid-backed, $150 case (Exovault Exo5)! So don't listen to me...I obviously don't even know what the hell I like!:D:D
 
My current case - Case-Mate Barely there has a hole in the back.

I kind of like it actually. It shows off the logo, plus you can use the logo as a mini mirror!
 
For me, either it shows the whole back (e.g. bumper, translucent/transparent case) or cover the whole back. Don't put a hole there JUST to show off the logo. I refuse to buy any case with that hole in it, however attractive that case is otherwise.

I think it adds some interest over a plain sheet of aluminum. I don't think the designer could care less about Apple's logo. The composition and interest needs something, a nice circle with a shiny apple doesn't offend me. I guess that means I like it.
 
looks really nice but i think it loses a little something by not having a replacement sleep button
will probably still buy it though
 
Not sure what the hold up is when the site was live ot was a basic out of the box ecommerce site and cart, not exactly reinventing the wheel.

This. It's just not pretty.

Even so, I want one real bad.
 
Any word?

Any word on this? I just cancelled my order with atomic, deciding that I am really not getting the warm and fuzzy from them either (rumors of yet ANOTHER redesign) - sorry to asking, should have checked facebook first: looks like they're targeting tomorrow. Note to self: start checking website at midnight tonight (pacific time) and complain like mad if it's not ready to go :)

Also, for those waiting, the fusionwerkz sabre has been temporarily put on hold while they redesign as well.
 
I've been lurking here for awhile and very interested in ordering one.

I know this question was asked in the past, I never saw an answer


Any word on cost for shipping to canada, and will we be able to use USPS, since UPS and Fedex will add 30-40 more for duty charges.
