Aluminum MacBook and MacBook Pros Spotted?

The angle/position the guy is holding the camera vs the angle of the picture is not correct. He is holding the camera much higher than the picture is relative to the macbook.

Not if the photo was cropped before being uploaded onto web. From that photo alone, it is not clear what angle the camera is being held, how high the laptop is and also how far the person actually is from the laptop.

One thing that strikes me is the angle of the screen. It seems to be nearly vertical, presumably so the photographer's face is not captured by isight.

This doesnt mean I think the photo is real, sharing my observations

My prediction: new laptops not before January

I don't enjoy having a pessimistic opinion on this, but I really don't think they will come out with new notebooks before the new year. Personally I've been waiting for a year for an update, but have come to believe that they will only seriously start considering this once sales for the current line decline significantly. Apple can afford to wait, while (imho) the competition is sleeping, given its attachment to bad software (Windows). For somebody like me, there's just no alternative to a Mac right now, so as soon as my current MBP breaks I'll have to get a new one regardless of whether it's lighter/thinner/more powerful, or not.

This is just not the time for them to update I guess. They just had new iPods (which I don't care about) and the 3G iPhone. Macworld is in a just a bit more than three months, so they'll likely wait at least until then.

Good idea and implementation for touch trackpad! Except touch pad is way too small.

But photo looks fake to me. It seems to be too much the same as the old MBP with just a few photoshop chops.

I am hoping for a black anodized model option. I am so sick of silver. It looks like cheap Walmart C%&P!

You can tell its fake by the color of the wall behind the computer, and the color, style, layout of the room in photobooth. Very fake.

But, I kinda like the design so I wouldn't mind seeing this come out.

I hope they add FW3200 on the MacBook Pro and make the new aluminium's MacBook screen an LED-display and hopefully 16:9 ratio instead of 16:10.

Uhh, why wouldn't they update their macbook line before the holiday season? There stock is dropping and macbook sales growth is slowing down. I already know what they will do. They are going to release the new line in october and upgrade the specs during macworld. Kind of like what they did with the aluminum iMacs. Knowing this I wish I could wait until macworld but I'm ready for a new mac NOW. I think the big announcement at macworld is going to be new displays as well as corei7 in the mac pro. Hopefully.

I agree with this. Considering its been since Feb since the last update, I highly doubt they will wait 12 months for another update! An optimistic view would be the 30th, but most likely the 14th of Oct.

The new 13" MacBooks, 15" MacBook Pros and 17" MacBook Pros are said to share similar Aluminum-based look "as if they were members of the same product family".

I wonder if this extends to the two lines merging into one "MacBook," as has been widely speculated.

Will they finally externalize the optical drive so people only have to carry it around if they need to? That would shave off half a pound and a ton of space right there.

What if macbooks and macbook pro's shed most ports and the optical drive (allowing for cheaper prices), and apple comes out with a new "brick" that contains the ports and optical drive, which would work wireless with all laptops. Just an idea

If they all look the same and have the same ports I wonder how they'll differentiate them.. will it just be by the graphics card (and obv size)?

I believe the spec differences will be greater than now. For example, instead of the high-end MacBooks and the low-end MacBook Pros having the same GHz, the low-end MacBook Pros would have a higher GHz.

It is either the September of 30th or the 14th of October.

Either of them are possible but I am not sure why Apple is waiting to October 14th when they have all the technology in place (meaning the designs are finalised, tested and are ready to be shipped). Give people a break now Apple.

We "need" all the speed we can get. I don't merely use my MBP on the go, but also when I get there.
Apple has quite the margins to take from to spend the extra few bucks on fw3200. Hell, they have saved a few pennies from using crappy fw chips for ages.

I agree. I think MWSF will be about the redesigned Mac Pro (or at least bumped to Nehalem), and possible iMacs as well.

I hope not... The pro line is a good idea. Look how professional you would be, carrying a Macbook into a movie-editing class.

Also, that would imply that they are ditching the Mac Pro and making it into an iMac. Not happening.
