:D I think thats the first time one of my jokes went over well on here.
You mean, instead of someone humorously posting five paragraphs explaining to you that superdrives are standard equipment in MacPros?

yes, the joke went well. It was just a joke. That is all.

My huge and hugely cynical brain gets irritated when people like things for the wrong reasons :)
As in bad, it's marketing.

Certainly nothing wrong with that! I think a lot of apple products are sold purely on the look and finish.

I was talking about the recent ipod event comment and some of the silly posts it spawned. Personally I like the current alu laptops, prefer black and dislike the big silly logo.

I dont care what colors the logos are, i have every intention of dismantaling my macbook and putting a purple logo in there the second i get the chance, along with several other modifications. All im waiting for is the new aluminum and of course, to get freakin hired so I can afford one after xmas.

So you say

the tablet market and the laptop market are two very different things my friend. It wouldnt be the replacement of macbook.

Apple is the king of game changers they forever changed the music industry with the iPod and the cell phone industry with the iPhone. The safe bet is to believe that they will change the consumer level portable market with a new product. Break out of you tablet vs. laptop cage and think different. An Apple tablet will not be just another in some pre defined "Tablet market" just as the iPod was not just another mp3 player or the iPhone has become way more than just a phone. Have some vision.

I just calls um like i sees um.

I for one would only get a tablet made by apple if they found a way to make a hinge that doesnt rely on one weak little connection point. I just dont trust them.

Problem solved... no hinge required as I described it.

I think the ipod, iphone and selling millions of tablets to people is great marketing, but it's hardly visionary if it's all been done before.

Take the keyboard off, plonk a touchscreen on and sell it for a reasonable price, I'd buy one.

That is a little too far out of line, I think. While Apple may be game changers, it isn't always because their products are amazing. Yes, the iPod was a game changer for the MP3 player industry (as well as the iTunes store), but it wasn't because of the device itself. The iPod is pretty much a screen and a hard drive, okay? Nothing revolutionary there. What is revolutionary is how they were able to market and sell the device, and now, just 7 years later, 160 million sales under their belt. The same goes for the iPhone (though it is by far a more revolutionary device than mobile phones before it). As for the above picture with the dual screen setup notebook/tablet hybrid, come on. That is way too confusing for me even, and I know how to work things better than most people. I do have to say, the idea about the multi-touch trackpad changing into controls for iTunes, etc. is quite cool, and may even in fact be a feature.

Again, I wouldn't use the phrase 'far more revolutionary device' if it's not at all revolutionary :)

It's quite good and far too expensive - in my opinion a very common trend

Oh you were talking about just a screen you carry around? No way, way too many people love the laptop form factor (screen on verticle axis, keyboard lays flat) Id hate to always be holding onto just the screen (it only works small scale)
