I'm really hoping for the best on this one.
I'm not in the market for a MacBook Pro, but I would be extremely pissed if this is what the MBP would look like.
Seriously.

ESPECIALLY with that logo.
I can't see that being complete.
So I'm hoping for two of those holes to be color changing LED's, and one be a screw.
But even with that, to me, it doesn't sound "PRO" at all.

As excited I am to see a leak, or whatever this is, I kind of also want to barf on my monitor.

A back lit black glass apple though would be amazingly sexy.

I hope they don't screw this one up.

Excuse my ignorance but what am I supposed to be seeing here? The top half looks exactly like the current sans backlit logo. Can't even tell what the "bottom" is.

Not to sound like an old fart or anythin, but I think the current MBP is perfect as-is...

Lets see... possible changes...

More curved like the Air = lame, looks like a toy
No backlit logo? = hahahaaha yeah right
Black frame around the display iMac style? = yeah right, let PC laptops be made out of half a dozen different colors/shades
MacBook-style keyboard? =HELL NO, the current square keys are perfect, the dented in keyboard looks like a toy
Black keys? = HELL NO AGAIN --- plus the backlight for the keys looks cheap as hell on black...

Only thing I could think of to change really is to make the latch magnetic --- not that the current one is bad, but the magnetic one is cooler... Of course as long as the pretty pulsating button stays :)

What if the 3 circles were for a screw and 2 LEDs, a cover can go on top then the Apple logo could be outlined with a white outer glow. That would be a cool idea.

agreed, it's just a recess to put the white plastic apple logo in, the 3 holes are either to allow light to disperse better or for the plastic apple logo to mould into to hold it self in place. Not having the glowing apple logo is just silly!

Walking into Starbucks just won't be the same without every one on the counter with Mac Books having their apples glowing. Without it, it's just like any other laptop!

yeah those holes where the logo is are just marks where they will put the LED lights for the blacklet logo..

Kinda inaccurate don't you think. And besides, couldn't they change as well?

I suppose so, but if they made the apple logo smaller it would make the computer look bigger than it is, the oposite of what apple is going for, and I see no reason to change the size of the feet. And the rumor states its the macbook pro case not the macbook, and while that could be wrong, i'm going to pray its not, because i'm personally not in the market for a new macbook :p

As the logo is also portrait rather than landscape, perhaps it might be a tablet?

Umm.... no it isn't. Check the picture again. The logo is landscape just like they always are (Plus, a tablet wouldn't need a top shell like this.

Apple has been rumored to be working on new aluminum MacBook Pro designs that will adopt features of the current iMac and MacBook Air.

so in other words we'll be getting a MacBook Pro with a non optional glossy screen that only displays 6 Bit colors and no Bluray Drive...

great. can't wait.

If the glossy screen comes as the only choice for the MBP then I bet some uber-rich :apple: fanboy in a fit of rage will hire Blackwater to storm 1 Infinite Loop.:rolleyes:

Translation: it won't happen.

The aspect ratio of the dimensions look like it's for a 4:3 screen rather than Apple's current 16:10 for MBP's. Could this be a 12 inch replacement?

No backlit Apple logo!

No sale!

OK.. How do we know this will not have a backlit logo. That case looks likes its just the aluminium part with know other components added: therefore is it not possible that the holes are for fixing and lighting to logo?

Is it just me?

Someone tell me why I'm wrong, please!

Ignore me... too lazy to read on.

Larger trackpad like the Macbook Air - it's the sole reason I'm holding out for a redesign. The current MBP trackpad is a little small for multi-touch gestures.

Not going to happen.
Even though that's one of the best laptops made in many peoples' eye's,
there is no way in hell that Apple is going to take a step BACK and do that.

Of course,
Apple seems to always surprise us.

I guess we'll just have to wait 1-3 months and see for ourselves.

I can't wait for the keynote. :p

the bottom case doesn't appear to be "long" enough to fit the top casing, but I'm guessing that's where the battery goes.

arn

I predict a chrome logo. Too bad--I'll be sorry to see the lighted one go.

The bottom case does look like only half of the full bottom--only 2 feet. Maybe the whole other part (not seen) is a door that comes off to access battery, RAM, etc.

And that little rectangular opening on the right may be the release slider to make the battery door pop open.

Another possibiity, of course, is that it's real but NOT from Apple: an illegal MacBook Pro "clone," like those Chinese iPhone clones that have an Apple logo.

what i dont believe this, no more backlit apple logo
thats the whole thing about the macbooks

MacBook perhaps? Btw, I can't imagine Apple not backlighting their logo.

yeah its their trademark, its what sets apple laptops from all others

no blacklit logo? I'm glad I bought the penryn then. I'm serious too. This is what partly makes up what an Apple laptop is. It's one of the most distinguishing feature.

1. Yes it looks like the bottom part is cut in half or something. Weird.

2. Could this not be the new aluminum MacBooks?

3. If they backlit the Apple logo on the MacBook Air, I'm sure they will not get rid of it in the new MacBook and MacBook pro. Yes, it is like their signature. I don't think it will go away, calm down people lol.

I have never seen the way they are assembled but couldn't the holes be for the wiring that backlights the Apple logo???

4. Don't even get me started on China's toxic, cheap goods and ripping off billions of dollars with their clone economy. (No offense to the majority of countless Chinese who are good honest people).

I think the coolest thing would be a shiny black Apple logo with just the edge lit in white. I like them now but I also wouldn't be heartbroken if they went with non-backlit.

I've never popped off an Apple logo, but I know it's lit using the screens built-in backlight (no additional LEDs to reduce battery consumption). Perhaps the logo will be slightly raised? It seems like the holes might be spaced correctly to mount a raised logo and allow the backlight through so long as the logo material disperses the light properly. I say it'll still be backlit in some way.

This is not at all how the backlit logo is currently done... Photos
