oh and i just dropped my 3G on the ground getting out of the car and shattered the screen...sweet.

Why dont you just sell that one and buy what you want instead of trying to wheel and deal every last spec.

It's a good thing I opened it because I would've marketed it as a high-res screen inadvertently screwing the buyer and causing headaches for both parties, although even if I had wanted to sell it I just lost 20,000 yen by opening it.

Breaking the 3g and opening the box, losing all sorts of money today. Seems like you need an otterbox for your phones and one of those mactruck cases for your mac just in case.

Not overly concerned with the 3G, it's a steaming pile of garbage anyway and my contract is nearly up. Thing's barely useable as it is on current software.

I just read this entire thread. Bought a Macbook Pro the other day and am worried that if I get problems I'll have all this crap to deal with. I'm seriously hoping this is a (VERY) isolated case.
Regardless, I'm glad you finally got your way! If it were me, after the third repair I would've been demanding a replacement unit. You have, after all, paid for the extended insurance.

Don't feel bad for sticking up for yourself. There may be human beings on the other end of the phone/desk, but the bottom line is that you paid for a product, it doesn't work and you want things fixed properly.
