Well, there's obviously the R&D costs, but given that the iPhone 5s component costs are estimated to start at $199, I'd expect them to be less on the Apple Watch, which starts at $350 for the cheapest ladies model.

Considering the size, small production scale, new tooling, new software and a bunch of other factors that are going into the watch (three years in the making and almost a year left before it actually hits shelves) without even touching on packaging, marketing, cables, chargers and etc. I'd submit that you're wrong.
