Many people seem to think that a larger screen = the size of a Galaxy Note 3, but that's not the case. Look at the Moto X. It's got a much larger display (4.7") than the iPhone's, yet it is nearly the same size. It still fits wonderfully in your hand (actually feels better in your hand because of how ergonomic it is) while still giving you the benefits of a larger display. This is what Apple needs to do... increase the display size without making the device significantly bigger.

If Apple keeps their home button / Touch ID, then it will be hard for them to trim down the bezel.

Bad thing about Moto X = available only in the USA. So...

The Moto X is a great example. Another example is obiviously the HTC One. It already is close to the iPhone designwise with an Aluminium body.

I dont think this is way too big of a phone. In fact the Bezels could be even slimmed down a little more.

The HTC One is definitely a good sized phone and is worth its size since it has those incredible BoomSound speakers, but it's hindered by it's crappy button layout. Who decided that putting the sleep/wake button on the top left of the phone was a good idea? The Android keys button layout is equally dumb. I'm hoping this'll be improved with the HTC Two or whatever they call it.

I only used the HTC One as a reference of a big iphone. You can clearly see that thered be stil lenough room to fit in the home button /Touch ID plus some extra bezel to shave off.

How is it nonsense? Someone who spends way more time on his smartphone might want to have a bigger phone that helps him get more productive.

For example - most of you english folks might not now this- the iPhone keyboard is pretty terrible on many languages. Simply a bigger keyboard would make typing easier.

Also people need to stop talking about 5" phones as if they were totally not mobile and way too large.

There sure is a difference, but it is not like it is complete night and day.

It is elitist nonsense to suggest that smartphones are only designed for a small group of hardcore users and should therefore be somehow tailored to suit only what they want. I would class myself as someone who actually uses his phone, yet I am quite happy with the 5c's screen.

That "little" bit of difference makes the phone unusable to me as a business device.

Moto X is very well designed, but keep in mind that it doesn't have a physical button with TouchId.
iPhone 6 couldn't be the same.

The top bezel could be reduced like other smartphones that still have a speaker, camera and other sensors there. Same with the sides.

They could at least remove some of the top bezel, though. It's unnecessarily big and by moving the Facetime camera to the side of the speaker along with any other sensors, they could cut off a lot of space up top and there's a few centimeters where they can take off from around the button. Hell, they could even make the button slightly smaller (~5% smaller would even be enough). Not to mention it's quite narrow at the moment and by making the phone a little bit wider to squeeze in a few more inches, that would also help keep the device at it's current height even if they were to increase screen size. I haven't even mentioned side bezel size, either. They could slim them down to how they are on the G2. If they made these changes they could easily fit a 4.5-4.7" display in the current frame, they just need to get rid of some of that wasted space.

That's what I meant by individual. Android is no good....FOR YOU.

As much as I'd prefer to use my iPad it can't do what I need it to do.

I need to make, store and email multiple zip files containing blueprints and schematics. I need a thumb drive to work in it and a dedicated file system to move files between it and the tablet. Plus it's nice to have a flash on the camera however I generally take pics with my iPhone and using Dropbox put them on the tablet. It's also nice I can connect a mouse too it but that's not a big deal.

Only alternative is my MacBook but that's a pain. Plus it's much too delicate for my line of work. If I break it...no big deal.

A lot of my co workers use windows or android phones so they don't need a tablet but I still prefer the iPhone.

I work in a heavily regulated and security conscious industry. In addition I am a heavy content creator. Your above scenario would never work for me, plus i need a keyboard.

Huh? You think people buy an electronic device to look cool as the only reason for owning device? Got any credible studies to back that up?

For me its not about real estate,it's about productivity, security, support and back up. Apple has android beat in every category, imo.

One look around, and the slightest amount of knowledge about the vanity driven masses reveal the iPhone as a status symbol to the minions.

If you'll resist the urge to assume the other claims you made apply, I'm sure you're thrilled with your phone. That's all Apple cares about.

I can't speak for the "vanity driven masses", i can only speak for myself. :p

Thrilled is not the right word yet, we are still in the getting to know you phase, i haven't yet proposed marriage. ;)

Everyone's an expert now. I'm guessing very few used smartphones or pda's before the iPhone was released. Things were truly bad then. Apple and Android have both provided great solutions.

It's so disheartening to see people quibble over icon styling and screen size. Personally, I feel like I'm living the future I dreamed about 10 years ago. Better, actually.

It's not so easy ... If they keep the same frame with a bigger screen, it will end in a very poor battery life.

I've always been dead against increasing the size. But times change, I'd now happily buy a 4.3" - 4.5" version. As long as it fits in my hand and I can use the screen without having to re-adjust my grip.

Duh. Wow youre smart.

You know, you can't make fun of someone and use grammatical/punctuation errors. It's highly likely someone will point it out.

*You're

Let's just say that this thread has devolved into a bash string. On topic however, I do want to see iPhone keep a "Pocketable" size.
If it's too big, it'll be exactly like my Note 3 in awkwardness.

Edit: I had a phone with Beats Audio once. Was I impressed? Nah. Not really honestly. There are plenty of other good equalizer programs and hardware capabilities out there.

Yea, I finally got to handle one and I immediately thought iPhone should go this route. The Moto X is about .25 inches taller and wider. I think that would be an ok increase in side. The difficult part is what will Apple do with Touch ID. They really can't shrink the chin anymore and if they shrink the forehead without shrinking the chin it will look weird like most Android phones.

I think they are going to redesign it entirely on next generation, maybe taking ideas from iPad design.
