Plenty of people don't like the taste of coffee.

Of course, there are also people who don't like the taste of fish; or cruciferous vegetables; or milk; or asparagus; strawberries; or a whole host of other food items.

People are born with, or develop, all sorts of food preferences. Its completely normal, and I wouldn't think any less of someone for liking - or not - any particular item.

So long as you don't let your dislike of coffee morph into derision or dislike of those people who do enjoy its rich, invigorating flavor - then you'll do just fine.

Do you also dislike beer ?

If you do, might just be that you don't like bitter tasting food/drinks. Dark chocolate would probably be something else you don't like in this case.

Interesting! I can't stand beer, and can't even tolerate the smell of wine.

I do however love chocolate, milk, dark and white so that kind of blows that theory. :p

I also feel this way about gasoline.

Yuck! I don't like the smell of gasoline. Or cigarette smoke or garbage for that matter.

Being that coffee is naturally bitter, it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people don't like it. I would venture that bitter (maybe second to spicy?) is the least likable food characteristic.

YES!!!! I don't drink beer at all whatsoever. I think it's gross. I do love me some hard liquor though. I tolerate dark chocolate but i definitely prefer milk chocolate.

There you go then.

Wine is sweet, nothing to do with bitter tasting foods. It's the alcohol you're probably having problems with.

How dark ? Dark chocolate up to 85% is not so bitter (still plenty of sweet taste from the sugar). Try 90% or 99% and come back and say my theory doesn't hold up. ;) Especially 99%. Now that stuff is bitter tasting (and so awesome with a nice hot cup of tea).

Disregarding the jolt of caffeine, perhaps you tend more to the sweet side, rather than savoury?

It's not unlike lager vs. ale.

Everyone around me on a daily basis thinks I'm crazy for disliking the taste of coffee. Not only that, i feel no need to have a hot beverage in the morning to wake me up. I love tea and hot cocoa, but feel no need to have them in the morning. I drink them more in the winter time. As for coffee, i can't stand the taste of it, not even coffee ice cream or even if it's 99% milk and 1% coffee. I feel like i'm in the minority with that. Anyone else feel the same?

I feel you are extremely weird...

;)

Nothing wrong whatsoever. Most of the people I work with don't like it; some like the smell but that's it.

By the same token, none of them walk around making a scene about it.

I don't like coffee. I don't hate it, but every time someone gives me a cup [maybe once of twice a year] I always think I'd rather drink a cup of English Breakfast. However, I prefer dark beer [my favorite is Guinness] and I love dark chocolate. I can see your reasoning, but while all of those have quite strong flavors, I find the taste of coffee distinct from the others.

I eat anything, really, except coffee flavored foods.

Just don't like the flavor.

Give me deep fried scorpions or durian, just don't serve me coffee with them...

The taste is the same in all 3, bitter. There are only what, 6 or 7 tastes ? I can't ever remember the number (sweet, acid, bitter, salty, something or other).

What you probably dislike is the general flavor of coffee (the burnt bean flavor they all kinda share). He specifically talked about not liking the taste.

Flavor is felt through the nose, taste is with the tongue.

I used to hate it to until I found a brand I like.

There is a coffee called "Tucara" that is really good but strangely you can only find it at Walmart. It tastes almost identical to what my friend used to bring me from Brazil (which was the coffee that got me started on coffee).

Prior to going to Grad School, I hated coffee. When I entered my program, I decided to to two things; learn to drink coffee, and finally learn to study.

I learned to drink coffee...:p

However, that has now led to my becoming such a coffee fanatic that I now roast my own beans.

Nothing weird about not liking any food or beverage.:D

I fit his theory perfectly, absolutely hate coffee, cappicino's fine though, and I also hate dark chocolate, but milk or white is fine. And Beer is just gross af.

This is the way I am. Bitter foods and drinks are extremely unpleasant.
