You're too young to have a phone. Who are you talking to on the phone at 13 that is so important? You can talk to your friends about comic books and wrestling in the school yard. And what the hell are your parents during letting you stand in like until 3 am at your age? You should be in bed by 8.

And yes, this thread has turned into a "look how mature and old I am because I have a cell phone" thread. Maybe your parents are the ones that are irresponsible. Let me guess, they let you all stay up as long as you want, hang out at the mall unsupervised and let you watch R rated movies. I weep for the future.

The 8GB iPhone 3G is the kids model, so you're fine. But you are definitely not old enough for the 16GB. 21+ for that.

I'm 16 and I have the white 16gb iPhone. I really don't see why you must be over 21 to have it though. And I don't think the 8gb model is a kids model either. An iPhone is an iPhone.... I could understand if you said a "kid" shouldn't be able to have an iPhone, but saying they can have the 8gb one and not the 16gb doesn't make sense.

I got my first Mac when I was 14 and my first iPhone when I was 14 (both bought by my parents). And now I bought the 3G in July with my money. I'm happy :D

I have a job and i'm 15. I pay my bill and stuff like that. If you take care of your things then you aren't too young.

who cares when you got your different apple products this thread is the most worthless thing since floppy drives

well, im gonna be 17 on august 19th and i dont have a cell phone at all, let alone an iphone.

Who exactly does a 13 year old really need to be in contact with ??

my issue is less with rich kids and their parents buying them things, its the fact that THAT particular phone allows UNSUPERVISED surfing of the net. I'm sorry, but unless you CAN put parental controls on the phone (i'm not sure) then NO KID should have an iphone. I would even be wary of a 16 with complete, unsupervised acess to things like myspace and facebook.

if you're too young to know sarcasm, you're too young for an iphone

my proposed solution is to change the entire classification system of humanity...from now on there are babies and adults

babies are under 17, adults are 17+

then you are allowed or not allowed to do things like drive, see movies, buy phones, credit cards, etc. period.

EXACTLY!! i can see a cell phone - JUST a cell phone.. this way the parents can ALWAYS be incontact with the kid, and the DAY the kid doesnt answer the parents calls is the day you take it away.. thats what my parents did with my beeper.. it was supposed to be for them to contact me (no cell phones back then) and if it didnt serve its purpose, i didnt NEED it and it was taken away.. THAT is how kids with cell phones should be treateed. and an iphone is just entirely unnessecary and really just unsafe with the complete private internet access/

and i'm from CT and i dont own a yacht either

no you're not young for an iPhone owner, you might even be too old
man, you should have had one when you were 8
too bad you can't go back in time and be cool
man, what a noob

This might as well be an "I'm 13 am I too young to change the channel on the television?" thread. There's no point. If you can figure out how to use it, you're not too young. If your parents want to spend that kind of cash on a phone, then good for you.

It's a freaking phone, it's not like we're talking about guns or performance cars or something that kids can act really stupid with and hurt themselves or other people.

The only reason I could possibly muster for a young person to not get an expensive luxury gadget like this is so they don't have a sense of entitlement as they get older (read: spoiled). But even that's not the worst thing, and if that's how his parents want to raise him, so be it.

I am 14 today and i have an 8GB 3G iPhone. I pay for the contract by myself, and have never had to loan money from anyone. The reason why I have an iPhone is because I am an iPhone Developer. I have one app under review at the moment, hoping for it to go on the App store soon. Another question, is 14 too young to be an iPhone Developer?

Oh, and in response to the post above, I currently do rifle shooting as a school sport and I have a firearms license. I have represented my school in competitions many times as well.

If I'm 16, a Junior in high school, have my own job, have my own car, why can't I have an iPhone? I don't understand how you can simply say and think that I'm too young for an iPhone because I read someone else's post and didn't think he was being sarcastic.

Are you too young? Depends how you look at the situation. You sound like you're responsible enough to look after your iPhone without losing it or breaking it, so in that sense you aren't too young. But, you probably don't need one for the sole reason that you probably aren't out and about all that much. When you're at school your cell phone can't be on and when you're not in school you're probably at home most of the time. Your friends can call your home number. I personally got my first cell phone when I turned 18 (I think).

I'm a little shocked at some of the comments that have been posted here, though...

cell phones nowadays is not a big deal. age is just a number. as long as you know how to use it, that's all that matters. i wish they had cell phones at these prices when i was a teenager, i probaby would have one, but back then (early 90's), they were way expensive. but i had a beeper, and man, did i think i was cool......... that thing barely ever went off, lol!!! i guess friends my age didn't page me until i had a car.

Fairfield County is South western connecticut.. The yuppiest place in the WORLD>

People who live or lived there
Martha Stewart
Paul Newman
Tommy Hilfiger
Michael Bolton (he asked for my number once when i was waitressing)
John Mayer (but i think he might have moved)
Bill Murray
Dave Letterman
Mel Gibson
Regis Philben
John Travolta
Meryl Streep
Chuck Norris
Brian Cashman (GM for Yankees)

theres more people but i would fill up the thread with all the rich and famous people who live in Fairfield County, CT - USA. They are ALL crammed into one little county too.. actually, just one PART of Fairfield County.. the Greenwich, Darien, Stamford, Westport area.

Yea John Mayer still lives here, once a year usually around christmas he comes and sings at our city hall for $15, he's pretty cool...all of the money goes to charity which is pretty cool too.:D

and also gene wilder lives here too, but hes really old now lol.
nothing wrong with that might i add before anyone starts bashing my post.

You My Son Deserve an iPhone. Your Never to young to get Money !!!!!

It really depends.

If your family is loaded with old money, then it doesn't matter that you're spoiled rotten and wasting money.

If you're just buying it because your dad decides to burn $300 dollars and your family is only "alright" financially, then this may be a horrible decision. Down the road when you're older, you'll have tougher time dealing with less than average stuffs when you can't afford the very best. Psychologically you're screwed and that leads to horrible financial decisions.

It's ok to drive a 1989 Toyota Camry as a first car, and it's quite alright to use a Nokia 3310 =). If you have already experienced the best when you're 16, then what's there to look forward to? But then again like I said, it really depends if your family is filthy rich.

first off...... WHAT?
Its not the internet you dont like it's......... PORN
Not sure what you mean by that..

secondly, you CAN shelter kids from the internet and be AWARE of their internet usage to an extent. Maybe not a 16 year old, but DEFINITELY a 13 year old, and no - i'm NOT talking about porn.. I could give a crap if a 13 year old saw boobies.. All 13 year olds seek that stuff out..The MOST concerning thing is Myspace and Facebook. I guess its more concerning if the 13 year old is a female, but either way, it is DANGEROUS! They all lie abotu their age because those websites have blocks enabled for people under 18 (rightly so) but the kids will lie so they dont have to deal with the blocks..

Its just a BAD place for most kids - and parents HAVE to monitor stuff like that

i still dont understand why this country is so stuck up when it comes to sexuality:confused: (thats everyone talking about the parental controls)

yes i realize the argument taht if there exposed, they emulate, but thats not really the way things work, look at underage drinking in america. Teens drink to get drunk and abuse everything. In Europe where its no big deal to let a child have alchohal now and again, alchohal ABUSE is hardly a problem

i think the same principle applies, sex and sexual behavior happens and is natural twisting it any other way just results in many sheltered kids that have no idea how the real world works

just my extremely liberal two cents tho, carry on
