Exact same scenario here as of 8:10 am EST...no charge, still in "not yet shipped".

Trying to think positive, but this is all too familiar to me.

Starting to get a little

Amazon is located on the West Coast. I wouldn't expect the shipping notices to START until after 12noon EST. Given the number of orders over the weekend, it might be much later.

That said, I hope you didn't cancel your 1.83 on order yet :)

True, there is a three hour time difference and I'm sure the orders were massive (noticed that the 2.0 MBP jumped to #1 in computer sales over the weekend). It's just that I've been down this road one too many times with them before and most of the time when something is progressing as scheduled, it will go to the "shipping soon" phase at least a day or two before actually shipping...especially if a weekend is involved. What makes it even more aggrevating is that I had two preorders in that I cancelled because of the earlier ship date on this order.

Nope, haven't cancelled the 1.83 yet....but now I've kind of gotten a mind set of wanting the 2.0 instead...c'mon Amazon, pick up the ball!

FYI - as of 7:30 AM EST - no CC charge and still in "Not yet shipped".

Will keep you posted (fingers crossed).

Aramis, I just noticed that you're also on the east coast...wonder if that has anything to do with things-seems like most everyone who has had theirs shipped or is in the "shipping soon" stage is on the west coast....any confirmations on this?

It's one thing if it ships out a day or two late, quite another if the ordering process got botched up yet again, and it sits there for several days-these are in such supply at this point, I just worry that those of us who haven't even progressed to the shipping soon stage, could get passed over. And calling Amazon does little good as most of the CSR's don't even realize that they got a shipment in-I still don't understand why the status is still "not yet released" on their website at this point.

I really love Amazon, most of the time, they are a pleasure to do business with, but they have dropped the ball several times this last year in situations like this.

I agree. I hope as well its just taking time to kick in. However mine still shows "shipping soon" no email or tracking number

Hadnt thought of that...

Very good point.

Too bad the MBP 2.16 isn't available at Amazon

I agree... you would think that they would have some 2.16 with the 7200 rpm models on there... at least a few... I'm sure they would sell.

I was wondering the same thing, maybe different distribution centers on different schedules. I'm in Chicago area and don't have a "Shipping Soon" notice. But I do have an estimated ship date of today.

Amazon does keep teasing me though, they added a new "Instant Order Update" line to their top of the page making me think maybe the status changed on my order. But alas it is "Not Yet Shipped."

I called Amazon about 10 AM Eastern time. They told me mine had actually shipped Saturday but that the online status will be slow to catch up.

When did you order?

I have been reading through your posts, but wanted to confirm. When did you order? I think you ordered back in Jan - correct? If yes, I wonder if any of the late weekend orderers are making any progress.

Not a big surprise because with Amazon I have seen orders show up even before I get an email shipment notification. Did you also order one day shipping or the standard free service?

I had an order into Apple for a 2.0 that isn't scheduled to ship until March 20th. So I placed an order for the 2.0 from Amazon about an hour ago. I called in and talked to an Amazon rep who told me more or less it could ship or not. If it was to be delayed I would receive an email. If it shipped I would receive an email.

His luck with cancelling an older order and creating a new order lead me to do the same a few hours later.

Thanks for the recap McCarron and good luck!

Just got off the phone with Amazon...CSR said that they still show that they won't be getting any MBP's until April 13th. Of course, I told him about this thread and that others had shipped or were "shipping soon".

In any case, he acknowledged that they could have gotten a shipment in, and he just doesn't have access to that info. He said that since I had a previous order for this item and had cancelled it, that my purchase had been sent to "manual verification" just to make sure that the purchase is legit and that once that goes through, all it should ship out. This exact same thing happened when my other half ordered her iMac G5 from them (I had just forgotten about it) and it did delay the order.

Just to be sure, I called my CC company and told them the situation and they put a note on my account that all was good. Might be a good idea for those of you who are still waiting in "not yet shipped" land to do the same just for good measure. Hopefully we will all be getting our MBP's this week-maybe not necessarily tomorrow, but at least this week.

I ordered one day shipping service.

Because of you...I also got one day shipping service. I think you ordered after I did, but then i balked at the shipping speed (more like jealous that you went overnight), and changed it to overnight...it still says shipping soon..so I just assume it's either at the DC or out somewhere in the fedex network

Same here...that's yet to be seen, though!

Irony is that most of us who reordered did so in a waterfall pattern (chain) pattern because of your original actions of cancelling and reordering.

Oh, the irony of it all...well, the day is far from over and I just emailed a rather lengthy response to Amazon over the situation. We'll see what happens. As I said earlier, at this point I'll be glad just to get the MBP at all-even if it's later in the week, it's better than March or April. I just hope that they have mine on reserve waiting to be shipped and haven't already depleted the supply. I don't know, screw-ups happen and lately they seem to happen to me a lot!

MBP 2.0 now has a ship date of May 3. I shouldn't have waited for my A9 discount to be reactivated.

I show this now if I try to check out, maybe it was a glitch that is now fixed.

"Estimated ship date for this item: April 28, 2006"

I may have totally screwed myself by cancelling my previous back order if this is the case. I'll await the "Your order has been backordered" email by later today if it is infact delayed that long.

Maybe good thing I have my name on the list at the Apple Store and I get a corporate discount there to make the after tax price the same as Amazon's shipping price. I'd just loose out on the Mail In Rebate.

Looks like it was a good idea for me not to visit this thread over the weekend! I did not cancel my MBP ordered on 1/22, and it is now "shipping soon." I just called my CC, and Amazon has in fact charged my card for the full amount. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow.

It just never made sense to me that canceling an early pre-order was a smart move. I wonder if the suggestion was an attempt to clear out a few pre-orders to get people in the back of the line a little bump. It reminds me of the day the Xbox 360 came out and customers were messing with other customers' minds while waiting in line. That's why I pre-order everything and never give up my spot.

I chose free shipping which probably accounts for the difference. Amazon likes to delay your shipment based on how much you pay for shipping.

yes. they're all out to get you.

if the day is far from over, why would you email amazon?

patience is a virtue.

Because I figure it can't hurt at this point...and I have had a bad run of luck with Amazon orders as of late and my patience is wearing thin.

Well...let's not jump the gun here what's happening. I say people with the ship dates of today just wait it out. Until the status changes for the worse, let's not conclude it's a mistake jsut yet.

I called amazon and asked if mine has shipped, and the response is "Not yet".

Well, we'll all find out soon enough..there's only a few hours left anyways. :(
