Wow...I'm really am truly glad for everyone-I think I'm the only one left that hasn't moved beyond open order stage. :(

But, I now have two orders in...the one that I placed on early Sunday am with a delivery date of tomorrow (HA!) and, for one fleeting moment today, there was one available to be shipped tomorrow, delivered on Weds, March 1st. I was just clicking through the shopping cart to see what the next available delivery date was (which was April 28th as of this am) and low and behold, there it was: ship 2/28, deliver by 3/1! So, I jumped on it-why not? Nothing else is moving.
So, now I have two orders in...I really hope one of them pulls through. I am really exasperated with this farce.

Sorry to hear...i really know how you feel because I was wringing my neck in agony all day.

Thanks...this thread has been great therapy in the meantime. Hopefully next time I post, it will be good news. :)

I've never been really satisfied with Amazon's order tracking, it always seems to be off :-/

Lots of times it works just great and other times it's just S***.

But, all things considered, the good outweighs the bad-Amazon is one of the best online retailers...at least most of the time.

Piemac you should ebay one of them as a 1-day auction. I'll bet you could turn a profit.

And teerex, you should definitely fight the restock. It's not like Apple Store will have a hard time reselling it the unit you don't want.

Oh, and my tracking number is now working, on schedule for delivery tomorrow! Woo-hoo!

For the record, I am still in the "Not yet shipped state" with no CC charge, no contact from Amazon. Just the $1 charge.

Getting ready to call Amazon now - we will see how it goes.

What exactly is the status of your order?

"Not yet shipped" and there's been only the $1.00 charge to my CC for verification-nothing else.

Looks like you and me are in the same boat-here's hoping we get some good news SOON!

Keep us posted (and good luck!)

Oh, meant to ask-when is your scheduled delivery?

I may try to fight it. That's if my wife doesn't keep it for herself

Update...

So - spoke to Amazon.com (twice). First time was told the order was pending approval from my bank. Called my bank - no contact except for the $1.00 charge. Called again, and was informed that a 24 hour hold was placed on the purchase because it was my first time using Amazon.com and it was such a large purchase (ok - wish someone could have told me that earlier). Was told that my overnight delivery charge would be refunded - cool.

Long story short. Was told that my order would process tomorrow  , but honestly not overly optimistic at this point.

Outlook: 3/1 delivery.

We'll see.

Well its within 50 miles of me in transit to the UPS facility. It got held up by a late plane so.....I am rural and only one truck comes this way. If it doesn't make it to the facility before the truck leaves I wouldn't get it today even though it was next day air. I am working on finding out if I can pick it up. Has anyone picked up their package from UPS before?

I have before, but usually they only let you if they attempted a delivery first. I'll probably have to pick mine up from their office if they require a signature because I'm not home during the day.

Too bad it doesn't appear that it's supposed to arrive today. No tracking number yet.
Items shipping soon:
Delivery estimate: February 28, 2006

This just keeps getting better all the time...

Received this from Amazon last night:

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding regarding this item. Although we
do have your copy of "Apple MacBook Pro MA464LL/A 15.4" Notebook PC
(2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo, 1 GB RAM, 100 GB Hard Drive, SuperDrive)"
on hand, we can't ship it to you until its official release date,
April 13, 2006. Many manufacturers, publishers, and record labels
restrict retailers from selling or shipping their products until the
official release date.

In some cases, these items may enter the shipping process just prior
to the release date. When possible, we do this to
ensure that you get the item as soon as possible after the release
date. When your order is shipped, we'll send you an e-mail message
to let you know it's on the way.

Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com.

I guess all of you have just been lying this whole time

And yes, of course my [now] two orders are still "not yet shipped" with delivery dates slated for today and tomorrow.

Wow, I am stunned by that reply from Amazon. So are they trying to say that Apple isn't officially releasing the MBP until April 13th? I'd like to hear that one explained.. Anyway, I missed out on this thread over the weekend so I never got a chance to re-order from Amazon.

Mine has never changed:
MBP 2.0Ghz
Ordered - Jan. 29th
Ship Date - March 31st

Still hoping to get it a few weeks sooner. If it truly take until mid April then I might just say the heck with it and wait a little longer for Rev. B or for a possible 13.3" MBP depending on those specs.

Thanks for getting back to me.

This exact item is, in fact, being shipped by Amazon to customers as of this past weekend. There are several people who have received shipping confirmation and a tracking number.
In fact, there is a thread on a message board solely dedicated to shipments being sent out by Amazon where, again, several have gotten tracking numbers and shipping confirmations.

Please visit

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/182268/

for reference and details.

I placed my order this past weekend just as these people who are receiving shipments did. In fact, I even cancelled an existing order placed the beginning of February because of the moved up ship dates.
Too, why would Amazon be confirming shipment dates for 2/27 if the actual date is April 13th? I would also like to note that CompUSA, MacMall, and several other online retailers are giving dates this week for shipping out the MacBook Pro...I don't understand why Amazon would have to wait until April 13th, being one of the largest online resellers.
I put in another order just today with Amazon in an effort to receive this item along with my existing order that should have shipped today. The new order has a ship date of 2/28 with a delivery date of March 1st. I now have two orders for the same item and in hopes that at least one of them will ship as scheduled.
I'm sorry, but this just doesn't make any sense. I have ordered my last four Apple computers from Amazon but I have to say, Amazon has really dropped the ball on this one.

Regards,

I've just about had it with this nonsense, really. I am debating on whether to make one more effort to call this afternoon and speak to someone...again....for what precious little good it will do. I've gotten a different answer almost everytime with no results-my orders just sit there waiting.

Keep after them. You never know they might just change their minds. Keep me posted and good luck

By the way Apple wants to capture by 1.83 Mac Book because it won't go to sleep with the lid shut. The store where I bought it has no others so I would have to wait until they restock to get a replacement.

That is EXACTLY what they were telling me yesterday on the phone. I kept pushing them and telling them their own information was wrong and took into it further. Basically to do their job and SEE that it has been shipping. Keep asking for the supervisor or anyone else who could know more information. The problem is they keep checking the product information on amazon.com itself for product information and it says there. They never look into it further, and I think only a supervisor can find out more details for sure. Just be nice yet firm. Tell them others who ordered after you got it shipped because it is probably true the way they handle orders. Also be sure to note that it was because of the sooner ship date on the website that you ordered.

I'm going to call to see if they have a tracking number for me or not, since many times they'll ship it and not update the tracking info til it's delivered. I basically need to know if they drop it at the door w/o signature or if they take it back to their location which is right near my office.

They do require a signature.

I think I'm going to give them until this afternoon (mainly because I'm pressed for time this am). Too, we'll see if they respond back to my email in the meantime, although I feel that a phone call is an inevitability...unless ,of course, one of my orders actually progresses in the shipping process (I suppose it actually could happen).
If a phone call is necessary, I am going to ask to speak to a supervisor this time around.

They just wont let go of that April date. When I just called they keep telling me it's not out yet. They always bring it up and I keep telling them, obviously it's been released if you guys have them and are shipping them to arrive today. And that Apple already has released it officially weeks ago now.

Mine sadly wont be delivered until tomorrow, not shipping out til later today. Strange is some people here ordered hours after I did, and are served by the same fulfillment center in Kentucky, got tracking #s already.

PieMac, If you do call the number on page one, enter your phone # or CC # twice to get a rep. Otherwise it wants to tell you information from the automated system and gives you no option to talk to a human.

Latest update...

Looks like I have two MBP's FINALLY in the "shipping soon" stage...LOL! No phone call necessary-I came home for lunch, checked, and it had changed. Since I can't cancel one of the orders at this point, I'll consider it an "insurance policy" just in case there are issues with one of them. Maybe I'll Ebay one as Verbose suggested. :D

Amazon is still listing the original order to be delivered today yet I was never notified of it being shipped so whether it actually arrives today, is anybody's guess. At this point, nothing would really surprise me, although I am doubtful it will be on schedule for this afternoon.

Obviously the CSR's are clueness as to what's going on. I can understand the confusion to a degree since it is in fact listed as "not yet released" still. However, Amazon should have at least upgraded the listing to "in stock soon" and at the very least, informed their CSR's of the situation as it stands.

Now I'll be holding my breath for tracking info (or a package-whichever comes first). This has been an exhausting ordeal!

I just got my tracking number, so it wont be delievered today for me. UPS doesn't even have the package yet.

Yours could still ship today, depends how long it stays in that stage. Good luck!
