It looks like Tim is using a pre-production Echo speaker. 😂

I have cameras in my house already...and may get the drone after seeing reports from others after it is released. I have a blackvue camera in one of my cars...and the Ring cam is interesting. Good times for technology.
I've had Front and rear cam from Thinkware for about 4 years, great product. (I looked at Blackvue also)
In this day and age I honestly think these are so needed today...sadly!

I got this in 2015 after someone in front of me at a red right put the car in reverse, hit me...then tried to blame me for hitting HIM. 😡

At the time thank God for witnesses, cops came...he was arrested for being under the influence.

As a fan of the Metal Gears Solid series, I would only get the drone if it displayed a ? while it's flying around and a ! when it discovers an intruder.
You didn’t even need to mention MGS for fans to recognize that reference.
NOPE! History of Amazon I don't think anyone should be using this product or plugging it within their car at all specifically with data sold to car insurance companies.
oddly enough a ring camera such as the drone thing may lower your home insurance.

Amazon today announced the launch of its fourth-generation Echo speaker, which features a new spherical design and improved sound performance thanks to a three-inch woofer, dual-firing tweeters, and new Dolby processing.

The $100 fabric-covered speaker comes in three colors, including black, blue, and white, and it's accompanied by a built-in smart home hub with Zigbee, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Amazon Sidewalk integration. Amazon Sidewalk extends the range of devices like the Ring and includes support for Tile devices.

The new Echo is equipped with an AZ1 Neural Edge processor that moves speech recognition on-device for faster than ever response times to requests.

Alongside the new sphere-shaped Echo, there's a spherical Echo Dot that's priced at $50 and a kid's version that comes with animal face designs and is priced at $60, along with an updated $250 Echo Show that has the same AZ1 neural processor plus a 10-inch display, the ability to pivot, and a 13-megapixel camera.

A Guard Plus feature, priced at $4.99 per month, allows Alexa devices to listen for sounds like footfalls or doors opening and closing and it can play fake sounds like a dog barking to scare off intruders. Amazon also unveiled Alexa Care Hub, a feature designed to let users monitor a family member's home.

There are new Eero 6 and Eero Pro 6 WiFi 6 mesh systems available, and for Ring, Amazon is adding end-to-end encryption for videos. A new Ring Car Alarm is meant to be plugged into the car's OBD-II port and it includes built-in sirens and sensors to monitor for car theft.

A Ring Car Cam is Amazon's new in-car security solution, and it too includes a siren and emergency crash assist functionality. The Ring Car Alarm is priced at $60, while the Ring Car Cam is priced at $200.

Also new in the Ring family is the $250 Always Home Cam, which is a drone-based security system that can fly to different places in the house from a home dock. It basically flies around the house on pre-set paths, recording while in motion.

Amazon introduced an updated $40 Fire TV Stick with HDR, Dolby Atmos Support, and an Alexa Remote, plus there's a Lite version that has a simplified remote for $30. To compete with Apple Arcade and other streaming gaming services, Amazon's final announcement was Luna, a game streaming service.

Luna works cross-platform on Macs, PCs, Fire TV, smartphones, and tablets, and it will be compatible with Apple devices, according to Amazon, because it is designed to be a web app and is not subject to Apple's rules.

Luna will be priced at $5.99 per month, and Amazon has designed the Luna Controller, to go along with it. The $50 controller has "cloud direct technology" to cut down on latency, essentially connecting the controller directly to Amazon's servers.

I wonder if other non-Apple related tech sites get updates every time Apple releases something that offers no benefit to many of their members?

That's a bit severe. My "automated home" such as it is begins and ends with a Nest thermostat and some cameras. Love the app, and it all works great. No need for HomeKit or any Apple framework at this time, but I feel like I have benefit out the yin-yang.

If I were a forum member on "AmazonDaily.com" or whatever - sure, I would love to hear about the latest integrated Time Capsule networking/backup solution from Apple, assuming Echo, Ring, Windows, and Android devices could access it. Unfortunately Apple has sortof circled the wagons on these types of things that could benefit others. There isn't even a mainstream display option anymore. Ah well.

Who in the F needs a drone flying in their house?! And just how BIG is your house?!?!

Your entire post just proves my point. If there's no benefit to Apple users here then I don't see the point of MR posting news about Amazon's products. If I want non-Apple product info I can go to CNET or The Verge. If there was a relationship between Apple and these Amazon products then I would be interested. Otherwise I see news articles like this posted here as just another slam against Apple and to give certain members here more ammunition to trash Apple as this forum wholeheartedly enjoys doing even if Apple doesn't deserve it.

Good to see existing products evolving and interesting new products appearing.

Seems a waste of real estate /unnecessary girth for the show to have a bezel from 2012 though. (yeah, I went there).

Man don't get me started on the screens in cars: BMW, Mercedes Benz AMG's (expect the new S class) - even the GT-Rs for 4yrs ALL have these THICK <insert your favourite phrase from every movie right here> bordered screens. They say 10" but it's more like 5". Like what is the point!?

Nah, you read what you wanted to into my post because, as is already clear - you're biased. All good, I'm not judging.

In case I wasn't crystal - I have a household that is 95% Apple, but I DO get a benefit from non-ecosystem, third-party devices. If more come along that are cool, I may want to look into them. Just because they aren't HomeKit/Apple/iWhatever+ is immaterial to me, because oftentimes there is not an Apple equivalent for whatever cool thing it is. Apple may or may not do it better. I don't hate them because they haven't provided every single electronic thing I could buy.

FWIW, as I said in my very first post, the drone is amazing tech, and the reason I don't want it is subjective and privacy-based - it has nothing to do with whether or not it's made by Apple or tightly integrated into their ecosystem. I choose not to benefit from it, but that doesn't mean everyone on the forum feels the same way.

As someone who just had $3000 of damage to my car from someone breaking in and not having anything to steal, I'm looking forward to the car camera with LTE

ODBII pots are exposed by a simplistic flap. Plug this chunky in and a car thief will plug it out - it's pretty obvious to any their with a half-brain. I doubt it'll detect glass breaking as many cars don't have side window sensors or seismic or pressure sensors (wouldn't work anyway unless sonic).

You're better off getting a REAL car alarm. Still $3000 is a LOT of damage to not steal anything - no alarm is saving you from vandalism. Time to move the cars parking or move period.

So many games services for the same bucketful of bad casual games. I suppose if you’re not in the Apple ecosystem (which most consumers are not) this would appeal to you.
