it really is quite sad how this thread is littered with comments like the one above

YOU DIDN'T GET IT

It's really sad how this thread is littered with comments like yours "correcting" comments like mine. It's unfortunate that while you post to discourage and prove me wrong, you've done no better for yourself. Who doesn't get it?

Posts like this are painful to read. Not only because you don't get it. But because it is CLEAR you posted without reading the thread at all because it's been discussed several times. But here it is one more time - just for you...

No one (not even Amazon) is trying to tell you that you should buy 3 devices.

They are saying - that for families or budget minded individuals that you don't have to spend the money on an iPad - there are options. If you're buying an iPad to e-read - there's the kindle. And if you want to eread AND email, watch movies and surf the next - there's the fire. And you can buy one or more devices for your family and still be less than an iPad.

To repeat - Amazon is not trying to sell you on having to carry or buy THREE devices.

Youre right. I apologize for not having as much time as you to do nothing but read every last post of a multi page topic i am posting on. I see that as an area of personal growth for me.

Unfortunately, every post of yours is always painful to read. I do, however, appreciate the help. With your wisdom, criticism and leadership I can only hope to be on your level one day.

And while yes right now there's a sun issue, who knows what is about to happen on that front.

Exactly, who knows. Why take chances when there's a 100% guaranteed device out there (e-Ink displays on any of the many devices that sport them).

Reading from a LCD is atrocious. Anyway, I don't know why I'm arguing, I read books made out of paper, I can't stand the electronic kind, in any shape or form. e-Ink is just the lesser evil to me.

At least he takes the minimum amount of effort to read/watch the articles he's posting about.

But hey, you have a life, right? It's perfectly excusable to be unformed and make ignorant comments when you have so many other things to do. Just like me, brah. I'm gonna go post about how stem cell research kills babies on a medical sciences forum cuz I was too busy GETTIN' SOME HIGH FIVE GUYS to do any reading on the subject.

Wait - is that sarcasm?

Truth is - you wouldn't have even needed to read "every last post" - you could have jumped a few pages and still have seen the topic and responses. But apparently even that was too much effort. But I am so glad you could waste your time by skipping to the end and posting your original thoughts and then when called out on it - respond so eloquently.

See I can be sarcastic too. Now neither one of us has contributed anything to this thread with our latest posts.

*Note to Samsung: this is how you get customers and play around your competition by showing people the value in your product, not some fanboyish ads which target the line up losers*

But they are never going to learn.

No, the fact that Range Rovers are bad trucks with poor reliability makes the Kia Rio a better car.

You could have picked a better comparison, like a Honda Ridgeline or Toyota Sequoia.

Tell me about it man. They stay in the shop and are highly overpriced.

In other words, Kindles are cheap and you have to carry 3 to do things that can be handled well (if not better) by just one device. Horrible ads.

The "I'm a Mac" campaign did not involve a specific PC device.
When you mention, let alone show a competitor's product in an Ad, you've already lost.

What in that link is supposed to deem my post 'wrong'?

Do you really need to question that?

Clearly you made an erroneous statement and samcraig called you out with a link to an ad from apple that mentions not one but almost ALL OF past and present Windows OS'es.

Windows OS's are not "devices".

Let's split hairs shall we?

Really? It's ok to admit you were wrong or mistaken.

I believe Windows is a product. I believe I quoted you verbatim.

Did you not get the memo? It's ok when Apple does it.

On a serious note, it always amuses me when the Apple fanboys are less informed about Apple then the more level headed members of the forum.

And those who are level headed are inevitably labeled as 'Android fantards', even if the topic has nothing to do with Android :p

No, I choose my words carefully, I wrote "device", not "product".
If you don't see why such nuance is important for this specific conversation, I don't think it's even worth debating it any further.

It's not worth debating because there is no meaningful difference and you know it. Try again.

You might have meant device - but you wrote in the same post

Your words. Back peddle all you want. It says more about you than anything else.

Clearly you did NOT choose your words carefully. If you don't see the difference in nuances when you get called out on them - well that's your problem.

Some people just can't admit it when they are/were wrong- no point arguing any further.

the ipad is horribly overpriced, just like every other apple product available.

Wow, way to not let the facts get in the way of a good rant.

So because a company does not try to make obscene amount of profit margins like Apple and instead going for a smaller profit margin they are stupid?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah, that's it. Amazon isn't trying for big profits. HAHAHAHAHAHA. It has nothing to do with the fact that they just _can't_ get those types of profits. It's because they're making a conscious decision to eschew those types of products. Wow. Quite a bit of business insight you have.

I think the ad was highlighting the ability to satisfy the family, its fine that the iPad can do all these things, but unless you are alone (or lonely) it becomes frustrating to the other members in the family.

Well, kindle stuff is more specialized: an iPad can hardly beat the reading experience of an e-ink screen (at least with traditional books), especially given how bad ibooks performs (at least on my original ipad, very crashy).

But it still amazes me that they advertise this as: "hey, I have this other device for browsing and watching movies, and it costs about the same!"

to which the guy should reply: "Hey, so I pay about the same and carry all that functionality with me in a single device!"

For me it is obvious that if you want ebook reading, an ebook is a better choice. For multimedia, just get a "real" tablet. IMHO.

But yeah, nice "try"/marketing.

lol Even as someone who likes Apple, I think it's fair to say that Apple's own Mac vs. PC ads, while lighthearted and sometimes entertaining, weren't their best ads either. Personally I think their latest iPhone and iPad ads just showing their products at work, making no mention of competitors (or even saying 'then you don't have an iPhone').

I think many companies would be better off at least having some ads that didn't direct attention, even negatively, on competitors. Don't get me wrong, I'm not discounting the validity of direct comparisons of course, but it can't hurt to change it up and try focusing solely on your product, as Apple has started to lately.
