Imagine that. THE BEATLES were considered talentless hacks in the 70's.

I'm not talking about the 70s. When the Beatles first started out in the 60s, they sang vapid, bubble gum songs about love that appealed mainly to hysterical teenage girls.

And, yes, I'm comparing Gaga to the Beatles. Deal with it.

I wouldn't listen to her album if you put a gun to my head....

Born this way? What? A talentless, music industry creation du jour?

To all the people whom think Lady Gaga is "talentless" I ask these questions:

  • How many record albums have you released?
  • How many copies have they sold?
  • How many times have you preformed live on national TV?
  • How many arenas have you filled with fans of your music?

Oh? You haven't done any of those things? Guess that makes you the one without talent then. People who can.....do. People who can't....critique other people's work instead.

I have albums of at least a dozen singer-songwriters who have never achieved the fame of Gaga and are 10x more talented.

Precious considering the username.

That's not really fair.

I guess if you're going to use that criteria, then you're not allowed to give your opinion on any of the Apple products discussed in these forums. After all:

  • How many computers/iPhones/iPads/etc. have you developed?
  • How many have you sold?
  • How many times have you delivered a live keynote address about new Apple products?
  • How many convention centers have you filled with fans of your products?

The thing about Gaga is that she does have talent, but she decided to sell out and is more of a circus act than a serious musician.

Here's proof of her talent:
I'll just add this here, as it seems relevant. lady gaga pre-gaga at nyu.

Not that I'm a fan of gaga, but millions of people would disagree with you. Just because you don't like a certain type of music or a musician doesn't mean they are "talentless"

We have different genres of music for a reason, everyone likes something different. Why do you hate on people for what they listen to? Do you also tell people who don't dress the same as you that they have no fashion sense? And that people who don't eat the same food as you must not know good food if it slapped them in the face? People enjoy different things for different reasons... does it hurt you to let them enjoy their music?

Just saying, open your mind a little, it's fine not to like an artist, but this is silly that this thread has even turned into an argument over gaga, it should be about Amazon Music Store vs iTMS....

Did you read my post? I never said that she lacks talent. In fact, I specifically stated that she does have talent.

Talentless? Hardly. She writes her own songs, plays instruments, sings live, picks her own beats, etc. The girl got into Tisch school of arts at age 17. Only roughly 50 people in the world ever have done that. She has talent, now whether you like her talent or not is another story.

I personally hate the Beatles music. I can't stand stand it. That being said I I can't deny the fact they are a very talented group and their influence in the music world was huge.

Its possible to recognize that someone is talented but not like their music.

Real men don't listen to Lady Goo-Goo. End of story.

That opinion, not fact ;)

I dislike her music because its not part of my personal musical taste. Everyones musical taste is unique. If you could see my iTunes library you'd think I belonged in an insane asylum. (50's Rock & Roll, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, Classical, Cinematic, to name a few).

Just because you don't like her music, it doesn't mean she is talentless. Thats your view, and we all respect that - but don't try telling people they are wrong for disagreeing with your bias opinion.

The bottom line is that we all have different tastes. If you're going to continue to bitch and moan that other people are morons for listening to her then you probably shouldn't be here. Go back to your obviously superior iTunes library please.

Actually real men don't care if someone else disapproves of their music choice, thats something a kid would worry about. Music is not gender specific.

^ This guy gets it. Everyone has their unique taste...you'd have to be pretty insecure to think that listening to a female sing was not something 'real men' do.

I'm quite happy to openly admit that I have the following artists in my iTunes library:

  • Meredith Brooks
  • Bonnie Tyler
  • Paramore
  • Hey Monday
  • Britney Spears (I'll admit that I'm not a fan of most of her work. I think I have around 4 songs from her in total)
  • Katy Perry
  • Fleetwood Mac (female singer yet they are one of the best classic rock bands out there)
  • Massive Attack
  • Pat Benatar
  • Rihanna
  • Patti Smith
  • etc...

They are great artists (IMO) who have worked hard in their careers. They individually have more talent than everyone here, myself included.

Even in this thread Gaga is the winner!

People talk (love or hate) about her
Google loves new content (again tag, Gaga attached to many new keywords)

I personally like a lot of her songs:

-Poker face (reminds me of New Zealand since thats where I first heard of Lady Gaga and first heard that song)
-Paparrazzi
-Monster
-Hair
-Speechless
-Dancing in the Dark
-Telephone
-Bad Romance
-Alejandro
-On the Edge

And then there are some I don't:

-Born this Way
-A bunch of others who's names I don't remember.

A lot of her songs remind me of the old 80's artists and music as well as 90's which is why I think I generally like most of her stuff. I also have a high respect for people who write and sing their own songs. (Like John Mayer. I HATE his music but I have to give him props for writing and singing his own stuff and creating his own style).

sorry man, quoted the wrong person lol. Eyes must have been a little more tired than i thought last night! :D

Dude: read.

I specifically said that she has talent. I never said that she is talentless. Geez.

Here is exactly what I said: The thing about Gaga is that she does have talent, but she decided to sell out and is more of a circus act than a serious musician. Her antics outweigh her music.

It's like she's using her talent for evil instead of good.;)

Where does he say that in this thread?

Exactly. Seems like these Gaga supporters are lacking in reading skills.;):p

It was an implication. Its not directed directly at him, but at the idiots moaning about how crap she is and such.

Just because other people don't share the same opinion as you does not make them idiots.

That's surprising that you don't like that song, it seems to be a direct rip off of Madonna's Express Yourself. Listen to both songs and you'll hear it......

If she spent less time worrying about her ridiculous image and spent more time on her music, imagine how good she would actually be........

No worries.

That song isn't the only thing she ripped off of Madonna. It really does seem like she ripped off her whole act. She's really not doing anything different than Madonna was doing 25 years ago.

That being said, you have to give the woman credit. She's hugely successful, so she's doing something right.

so you are more manly because you listen to a certain genre of music?

You must also be more manly because of the clothes you wear, the car you drive, the computers you use, the food you eat, etc.

I have mad no statements about myself at all. I just said that men who listen to Lady Ga-Ga may be getting in touch with their feminine side. :D

you are entitled to your opinion, but why be so harsh? It's just music, if you don't like it you don't have to listen to it, but why belittle people based on their musical tastes?

And no, i don't like or listen to lady gaga! lol

Are you sure? I'll bet you have a few Britney Spears songs hidden somewhere in your iTunes library. Maybe a Jessica Simpson or two? :D
