I wish Apple would just make an iTunes app for Roku. Problem solved.

Once they get that down, get with someone like LG and port it to the TV. Even more problems solved.

Everyone buys Amazon Prime on the Amazon Web Site and therefore they would not loose any money. This is exactly the same as on the iPhone or iPad.

Your speaking of a neutered app. Amazon uses "prime" to get you using their Amazon video service, as in rentals and purchases. They are not Netflix, they are itunes, but offer a block of rotating content within their app available to prime subscribers for free. If all you get is the free, I'm guessing they feel that doesn't let them compete on a level playing field. On most, like Roku, It's not the neutered mobile app on ios, it's their full video app.

This thread is still going? Wow.....

Not going to happen folks. Move along... Nothing to see here.

I just keep an old iPhone with the Amazon app charging in the livingroom. I AirPlay Amazon from that to the ATV. Ghetto I know!

Yeaaah, finally Amazon published the Amazon App.
Just downloaded from the Apple Tv Appstore and it works like charm, even surround and categories.

Sorry, April April :)

But the PS3 version is neutered and works great w the free prime content.

Why do you think that a monthly option for prime video has anything to do with an apple tv app?

Amazon Prime is a Video Streaming Service very much like Netflix. Amazon Video is more like iTunes in that you can rent/buy Movies and Music. Most feel that Amazon does not want to offer a Amazon Prime Video App on the Apple TV because of the Amazon Video part that competes with iTunes. I think that for the Amazon Prime Video App to truly have any chance of competing with Netflix they need to have the App everywhere that Netflix is. Apple TV is a huge platform to skip.

This has been available in the UK for a while, as has the option with shipping (though Engadget says it hasn't) - I've used Prime TV on a few trials and I pretty much hate it, mixing "free" streaming content with content for purchase is really annoying imo. I much prefer Netflix (and I don't even subscribe to that), and they have near enough the same content over here

It is simply a New Option to compete with Netflix and Hulu without the Shipping part. But makes since to keep the Shipping if you do any Shipping at all. This option and the 10.99 Monthly subscription instead of the $99 Annual that includes everything.

And works out to be more expensive. $99 Annual gives you more bang for the buck

$10.99 monthly will become about $132 monthly. Seems quite expensive. :(

I assume you mean $132 Annually (not monthly). But you may have missed my other post.
But the $10.99 is not bad for November and December ONLY.

I am hoping that at some point they also break out the shipping cost. Since they do not have an Apple TV App I seldom use Amazon Prime Streaming Option (Airplay or on TV App). But I would prefer they create an Apple TV App because I like the shipping an would like another streaming option. And the combined would be a good value.

I will give Amazon credit for having one of the best implementations of Airplay. While Airplaying the Amazon Video app, you can still use other apps or lock your iPhone without interrupting the video. It also seems like the Apple TV pulls the video directly from the Internet. With most streaming apps, you have to keep the app open on your iPhone for Airplay to work and switching to another app or locking your iPhone kills the video.

Yup, there I meant to say Annually. My bad.
"But the $10.99 is not bad for November and December ONLY." From this point of view it is good. If they break out the shipping cost that will be good move to attract users like me.

I believe Amazon is trying to use prime video as leverage to grow Fire TV. Same reason they somehow got playstation vue exclusively. They limited the kindle lending library and instant video offline downloads to kindle tablets for the longest time.
