The $50 annual data plan is the most intriguing part of the new Kindle Fire package, imo. What carrier is that through??
I believe it's AT&T.

What exactly has Amazon done that I'm not aware of since One-Click purchasing?
I'm already invested in the Apple ecosystem. I don't own an iPad because its too big/heavy for me. I thought Apple would never do a 7" tablet and was gonna get the original Kindle Fire but Amazon never brought it to Europe. Then the Nexus 7 came out and i was happy but by that time rumours of the iPad mini surfaced so i'm just gonna sit out for that.
I agree. How many kindle users are out there in the wild now? surely somewhere around as many as iPad? and all with amazon accounts downloading books from the store at a phenomenal rate. Surely a good percentage would be tempted to upgrade or buy another tablet to watch movie content, games, apps etc.
I prefer iPad myself but to many kindle owners these products will be tempting.
Blow through 250 MB in a day or two... doing what? There are wifi networks just about everywhere, and you can store most content you need locally, so once again: doing what? Streaming porn on the way home from work?
Whoa there, killer. Not only did I say, in my original post no less, that I was playing devil's advocate, I quite enjoy the competition between companies and I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FIRE HD. I would HATE HATE HATE if Apple were the only one left (because if you think I'm an Apple fanboy, don't let me get started on Sony (yes, Sony)).
Besides, I know Amazon is running Apple's cloud, so...it'd kind of suck if Apple were the only one "left".
Amazing that some people can't give Amazon credit where it's due. But I suppose it's one of those damned if they do, damned if they don't type of situations with some posters here.
Oh dear. The Verge is reporting that they come with ads, which you cannot remove (at least legally). I hope this isn't true with the Kindle paperwhite too.
iCloud uses Amazon web services, you know (as well as Microsoft's.)
Isn't this a Mac blog? What's next Windows Phone 8 coverage?

Oh, missed your OP there- so no offense.
But, can you enlighten me on Amazon running apple's Cloud services?
1) It's AT&T, who only has LTE in ~60 cities so a lot of people will not be able to utilize the speeds
2) 250MB is incredibly low data if you use any type of streaming service on the go.
3) Judging by AT&T/Verizon's overage fee past, it'll probably be $10 every 250MB or something crazy like that. I'm sure AT&T is expecting many customers to blow past the Limit.
4) It seems like there is only 1 plan. The 250MB one. I'd personally like atleast 1Gb a month even if it meant more money each year.
5) AT&T has been known to reneg on data offers. Not being able to select a provider of your choice is troubling
6) Getting a tethered plan with your existing smart phone may be more worth while for folks. Specially heavy data users. You save $200 off the bat for going with wifi model instead.
7) All in all you're paying $50 for 3Gb of data with some extras.
As a Kindle Special Offers owner I can tell you the ads are only on screen savers and are not at all visible anywhere else on the interface. Additionally, the special offers that Amazon has had through the KSO has paid for the device several times over.
Amazon presentations are starting to give me the feel that older iDevice presentations had. They have a good amount of features that honestly surprised and wowed me.
These days there's just so many Apple leaks that most of what they present was already leaked beforehand.

Dang, I kinda regret buying my mom the iPad 2 to replace the original iPad she had that finally broke (half the screen's pixels don't work).
Funny you mention that... Current and Legacy Nintendo's are the only system I still enjoy using. Interesting parallel between Nintendo systems and Apple products.
Sure, since you asked so nicely!
Amazon runs probably the best web servers in the world. Remember when they reset the atomic clock not long ago (June I think)? Netflix went down and so did a bunch of other services? It's because they all ran off Amazon. Apple licenses some of Amazon's servers as well, the same way they buy parts from Samsung.
Apple: keeping enemies closest.
