I'd rather have an Amazon App for my Chromecast.
This and support for standard Android devices.

All this [insert Apple competitor here] bashing is childish. Whether the comments are coming from kids, I can't say.
Would love to see/hear something out of Cupertino.....this whole "teaser in June, no releases until the Fall" cycle is starting to get old.
Things are happening more quickly. I'm not saying the iPhone or iPad should be updated more frequently, but for heaven's sake, stagger the updates!
If things pan out, we could have new iPhones, iPads, AppleTVs, iWatches and Macs all in the second half of the year.....that's too much and makes the first part of the year crap....
It's not ONLY about the specs of a device, that makes it perform well. Software has a huge factor. Just look how iOS handles graphics better than any other mobile operating system out right now. Yet the devices that iOS run on have bare minimum amounts of ram and slower clock speed than the competitors.

This will sell very well at $99. It's everything I expect from a re-newed Apple TV (hopefully coming soon).
The games looked quite good and the optional controller at $40 makes sense for people into casual games. Not everybody wants expensive console games.
Well done, Amazon. And I'm not even a huge fan of the company besides owning a low-end e-ink Kindle for reading books.
At this point the AppleTV needs to be upgraded.
I thought that the point of vomiting "quad core" to define something that is supposed to be faster than "dual core" was already gone.
Give specifics and be honest, or shut up. Some good people here have a 1.3 dual core that would easily smoke that processor and those 2 gb of ram.
Seriously tech companies, stop targeting the lowest common denominator. About the TV itself, it's just another Apple-TV like with Amazon services. Good for amazon clients, I guess.
Correlation does not imply causation
AppleTV has vudu now? Or via mirroring. I don't see it as the same thing if the latter
No it's not. It's a good device just like the Apple TV. The Fire TV can do games right now and has voice on it's remote right now. Apple TV will have it soon too. They're both very similar.
They're also both closed ecosystems in their own way. Just like choosing Sony Playstation vs Microsoft XBox, Amazon wants the choice to be them vs. Apple TV/Roku/Google.
As long as Amazon prices it at $99 - they'll be in the game. Price this at $199 and it will be DOA.
Looks like the way they're going with pricing it will be something like $99 if you have an Amazon Prime Account and $199 without. We'll see....
Amazon is charging for a kid-safe service? What the hell? This should be standard! They have just exposed themselves to the child-safety vs corporate greed argument for no good reason.
guess i'll stick to airplay mirror grom the iPad app
Since Apple doesn't have an Amazon App on it's device....
and Amazon doesn't have an iTunes App on it's device...

It should be called the Amazon FirePlace with relaxing screensavers that crackle!![]()
It's a blatant knockoff of the Apple TV, but I might have to get one if Apple doesn't offer better deals on the iTunes Store. Amazon Prime is a great deal. Apple's pricing is 2005-era, before there were competitors. It's like Microsoft and Office.
And no, not going to use Netflix. They have a horrible streamable movie selection, and they STILL haven't dumped Silverlight for their PC viewing.
If Wall Street really thought this was an "Apple killer" the stock would be down now. I'm guessing Wall Street thinks there's nothing here that Apple can't replicate. And with the previous ATV rumors it sounds like that's where Apple is headed. My guess is we'll see something from
Apple at WWDC.
Being a Prime member I find it interesting but there is nothing compelling enough to make me switch to this from my ATV. What they are doing with the games is interesting but I am awaiting what apple will do with the new update. (which I hope is soon!)
I wonder why Apple did not stick with dual core for their MacPro. Trying to mislead consumers?
Yes, Apple TV has had vudu for at least the past 3 months, maybe 6. As it's own channel.
