Thats pretty dam good :]]

In all fairness, its a reasonable price so if I had my Mac already i would have already ordered it too!

5 out of the top 11 (or 4 out of the top 10 if you prefer) are Mac only software.

What was that about Apple having only 7% of the market?

To be honest, I thought I would never see Apple taking nearly half of the software sales market. (and it is 50+% if you add a bit on for the two other software products in the top 10 that come in mac/win combined packages)

Holy Crap!

HOLY CRAP! Leopard pre-orders are the #1 best-seller on Amazon right now... and this is after a 'lackluster' WWDC keynote and the fact that Leopard's not coming out for at least another four months!?!

Something's changin' in the market... anything Apple does is a major event right now. SUCK ON IT, Dvorak and Ballmer. :D

FWIW, it has always been the case that Mac users spend a lot more on software than Windows users.

Poor Microsoft

This really is terrible news for Microsoft. Not that Leopard is #1 so much as that Vista is number 78... less popular than "Learn to Play Chess with Fritz and Chesster."

Now sure, Vista has been out for several weeks, but... considering how many millions of PCs are out there, shouldn't somebody be buying a copy or two of Vista? The fact the XP is outselling it by a large margin (on Amazon, granted) is really bad news for Microsoft.

I think "PC guy" was not kidding when he said MS has sold "tens of dozens of copies" of Vista.

Isn't it better to order at Online Apple Store ? I thought it would ship quicker than Amazon.

Anyway, great to see unreleased product at #1 at Amazon software !;)

Or you could do your bit to help stabilise the initial release sooner by installing it on a separate partition, testing it with the apps that you want to use and contributing to the discussion and bug reports to Apple - assuming it is has major issues that is. :p

Do I get Leopard for free then because I'm a beta tester? Seriously, I like the mac because it "just works". Part of "just working" is not being too early to the party when it comes to new hardware and software.

OTOH if you're excited about being first in line for Leopard, I'm not going to rain on your parade. It does look like a great piece of software and yeah, if nobody wanted to be first to buy it, then nobody would ever buy it.

Yeah, that Vista. Tsk-tsk. I actually thought it looked like a cool imitation of Leopard until these NEW Leopard features were revealed. Now MS has to catch up again. Vista 2.0, maybe? At least they have that multi-touch table at $10k/pop.

Yeah, they might catch up on some of the graphical improvements by OSX 10.7 .

By the way, Leopard now holds both #1 and #2 on the Amazon software bestseller list -- #1 for the single license and #2 for the 5-pack family license. Haha, awesome.

Would never pre-order from amazon! First of all you're 'locking' yourself into that retailer, when you don't know if another retailer will be offering a better deal. Secondly, you're hurting the chances for amazon to offer it at a better price. When Tiger was coming out they offered pre-orders for only $69. You don't see that now. If amazon sees a lot of people pre-ordering at the regular price (129) then they have no incentive to reduce the price because then they'd be losing money. We heard that buy.com and a few other retailers are going to offer a better price, so we'll buy from one of those retailers instead of amazon ;)
