I cannot find a way to contact Amazon about this, if there is a way, it is buried so deep, I cannot find it anywhere on amazon's website, including the "help" section.

When you go to their twitter is says "Service: @AmazonHelp"

...I contacted @AmazonHelp, here is their lame excuse of a response:

Of course, there is no way to DM @AmazonVideo. The only thing I know for us to do is bombard their twitter by tweeting to them:

"@AmazonVideo WHERE is the Amazon Prime Video app for Apple TV?!? …you have 35 days left to get it out by end of year as promised, hurry up!"

Remember, Apple promised by the end of the year. Amazon did not, unless they made a similar statement that I am unaware of.

I guess at this point, the most logical release date is to coincide with the release of 11.2.
I’m wondering this also...I’ve had a thought that there is something in AirPlay 2 that is system-level, and the Prime Video app is being built on it, I’m not sure if AirPlay 2 will be implemented with 11.2, but, they need to get on it. I’m not a dev., so just a guess?

Thanks for that. Now both Apple and Amazon have used the phrase "later this year", which gives them less than 4 weeks before Christmas to make it happen.

I'm actually more excited that Amazon says it will be available on the 2nd and 3rd editions as well. That's kind of surprising really. And Kind of sticks it to Apple since it means customers won't have to upgrade their old ATV after all to get it. Guess if Amazon can't have their money, neither will Apple.

It also means if I have to return my ATV 4K purchased in September back to Apple for a refund because the Amazon app wasn't released by January 1, I really won't have to buy it again until Apple has worked out all the kinks, both with it, and their iTunes 4K offerings.

Apple's Amazon Prime maybe release just before Christmas is the rumor! We will see! I think still myself February 2018.

Ah, yeah, so scratch my comment above:

What was I thinking? Amazon’s Prime Video is coming to all Apple TVs, so, 11.2 is not necessary, they are just being too frakking slow about it!

Well that's not necessarily true. Keep in mind the ATV 2, is 720p. The ATV is 1080p, but with few features. So from a technical standpoint, they're both limited in what they can do. It's probably a simple port from Amazon's most basic HD app for other platforms, which Amazon could have rolled out immediately (and probably long since built and tested and ready to roll for the day they began supporting the ATV). However, Apple probably wouldn't have wanted that since it would have reduced the need for older ATV customers to upgrade to the ATV 4. If I were Apple, I'd probably want Amazon to give me the 4K version before allowing them access to my existing installed base. So now we're back to a possible scenario with Amazon requiring technical support from Apple to deliver the 4K version, and Apple dragging its feet on the 11.2 update.

Given that Apple and Amazon are both on the hook with the "later this year" promise, and given that in Apple's case it's actually a sales pitch, there's a lot riding on fulfilling it, but they are taking maximum advantage of the wiggle room the phrasing of that statement gave them -- it's a little disingenuous to offer a feature upon release, but take the full measure of time afforded by their statement. Sony has been doing the same thing with their 2017 TV sets, marketing their high end sets with the promise of a Dolby Vision update. Well it's been almost a year since Sony has been marketing their TVs with that promise, and there's still no DV update. But Sony was much smarter than Apple -- they've only been promising that when the DV update is released those TVs will get it, not even a vague deadline for accountability. Meanwhile, if a customer bought the TV at the beginning of the year hoping to take advantage of all the DV content now available, they're out of luck.

Maybe one day a company will say "later this year" and strive to deliver it sooner rather than later.

Its been a long time since i sold my Apple TV 2 and 3 - so correct me if i'm wrong.
Both of them do not offer any App Store. So Apple has to push the Amazon App to this units, right?

suggested tweet (today I replied to one of the above tweets):

I've added @AppleSupport, but, we could also contact apple support directly.

Right. Apple could very well have the Amazon apps for these two devices, working flawlessly, but are sitting on them so as to encourage purchases of the ATV 4/K.

My guess is that Amazon Prime App is waiting on tvOS 11.2 release. This brings in dynamic range/display rate switching, a much desired feature.

Based on their prior history in pushing beta versions (beta5 just popped out). The time between beta versions of a series gets shorter, the closer to release.

8th December is my guess (or just before).

The reason being on that day 2 things are happening:

1 - The Crown S2 is being released on Netflix
2 - The Grand Tour S2 is being released on Amazon Prime Video.

So to steal some Netflix thunder this could be the day. It could also be wishful thinking!!

Since Amazon Prime Video is coming to ATV 2, 3, 4th gen. and 4K, only the latter 2 using tvOS 11, that is just more speculation based on speculation. (see my comment #161 above)

wishful thinking!

...do you know how many times people have said, oh it'll be when this release happens, blah blah blah, never happens.

June announcement, I thought it'd come out with the new ATV in Sept./Oct. ...NOPE!
Sept. Apple event, they still said "later this year", so, when Amazon announced new Fire TVs, I thought that'd be the time (and people were saying something about a sports event that week also) ...NOPE!
Oct. Amazon's new Fire TVs come out, (& sports event), ...NOPE!
Nov. maybe after Black Friday & Cyber Monday ...NOPE!

It'll come out when Amazon and Apple have agreed on terms and timing.

I'm tired of speculating, so, let's bug them as much as possible to get it out now! Amazon has had this in private beta for 2 years.
