Absolutely no reason to believe that whatsoever. Zero. They said later this year...it's still only December 2nd.

I have a Sony Bravia running Android TV OS. It has a custom implementation of Amazon Video app. Built into the system (I can't delete it, or update it via Google Play). We received a firmware update about a month ago for the TV. Since then nothing unusual has changed with the App until I opened it last night. Suddenly it's a completely different app with completely different navigation. I didn't even know the app could be updated without the system being updated, but apparently so. I find the timing extremely interesting.

Not long to go. Common sense tells me the app will be released at the latest on Sunday the 17th. This will leave enough time for developers to deal with any unforeseen bugs and problems before Christmas leave.
Then I will check this site hourly next week and all the news will be about is something stupid like the FCC might consider allowing FM radio in phones or net neutrality this and that.Just wait til next week guys
I don't have my hopes up anymore which I why I got the new Fire TV dongle which I don't like except it plays NF and Amazon 4K great.

How have you been fooled once? The only official announcements before today were 'by the end of the year' - all specific dates has been speculation from individuals rather than promises. If the app has not arrived by January 1st 2018, then you have been fooled once...
Everyone does realize that there is a major snafu going on in itunes connect. Xcode 9.2GM dropped yesterday but seems they have not yet updated itunes connect to accept builds from Xcode 9.2GM which is required to submit any tvOS app build for tvOS11.2 
You can't even submit TestFlight builds.

If it comes out tomorrow (wednesday december 6th), I will retract my former statement that it has nothing to do with tvOS 11.2, someone in some thread last week said it would be out this week, just in time for some game, and tvOS 11.2 adds the new features for Sports, so, this just might be the case....

I cannot wait for this. Fingers crossed the app will launch with a decent 4K selection as rentals on Amazon are £1 cheaper than on iTunes.

Doing a search for "Amazon prime" didn't come up with anything on my Apple TV. But I did see the "Amazon Shopping" app, and when I selected that and got the "more information" screen, I then scrolled down and saw the "Prime Video" app under the "More by AMZN Mobile LLC" section. Interestingly, the icon has a blue background and just states "prime video" on it.

I did a search ten minutes ago and it was there.
Unfortunately, I'm experiencing the same sound synchronisation issues as I am with iTunes content and Vudu when using 24Hz output. Netflix and Hulu are fine, but these other three, for some reason, has the audio slightly ahead of the video
