Doing a search for "Amazon prime" didn't come up with anything on my Apple TV. But I did see the "Amazon Shopping" app, and when I selected that and got the "more information" screen, I then scrolled down and saw the "Prime Video" app under the "More by AMZN Mobile LLC" section. Interestingly, the icon has a blue background and just states "prime video" on it.
That did it for me, thanks!

Same here in the Southwest. I installed on iPhone X but still nothing on ATV 4k and nothing in the ATV App Store.

Go to the Amazon Shopping app on the appstore, click it (you don't have to install) then scroll down to the bottom you should see other apps by Amazon and there is the Video app you can install. I was not able to find it via search.

Finally! This was long overdue!
We recently got a LD OLED 4K HDR 55" TV, which looks completely amazing with 4K or 1080P via the AppleTV. The TV itself has an Amazon Prime app, and it looks completely horrible- I haven’t bothered to try it via AirPlay as we have more than enough great stuff to watch via HBO, Showtime, Netflix & our Blu-ray collection –with the release of the AppleTV app I’ll try it again, but considering it’s current badness I’d be surprised if it touched Netflix’s 4K

2 things though

1) This isn't as important but the lack of audible cues I'm used to hearing from a tvOS app, parallax and the top navigation bar requiring a confirmation press are all a bit jarring

2) No surround sound. WHY!? There's simply no excuse for this.

It’s on the UK store, but may not yet come up for searches on the term Amazon.
Prime might find it, or a suggested app from other steaming apps.

I had to back door the download. Goto the Amazon shopping app then scroll down to see other apps from this developer and it’s there. I downloaded, signed in and started watching.

Great idea - worked perfect - Thanks!

Is this a typo, or is it true?

If it is actually coming to the ATV3, I may just have enough reason to dust it off and hook it up again.

Well, this is what I see on my iPhone. My in-laws might be happy to ditch the Fire TV Stick I gave them in favor of the Apple TV I let them borrow.

Hmm. I was excited to finally have Prime on my Apple TV, but after I installed it I realized there was nothing on it that I wanted to see. After years of waiting, I have gotten used to the shows from other services and have no attachment to anything on Prime. Maybe I’ll find some stuff to watch, but for now I realize I was more excited about the idea of having Prime, then actually wanting to use it.

Ok It just appeared in the ATV App Store and I installed. Now it's time to test and see what's up with 4k content.

I think that's a typo, tvOS - which allows for app store/downloads - is for 4th gens and higher (2nd and 3rd gens the OS was referred to as Apple TV OS). Either that or there's plans for it being released to the 3rd gens (via a system update) and they jumped the gun a little :)

It's been six months since Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that Amazon Prime Video would be coming to Apple TV later this year, and now that app is officially beginning to roll out to tvOS devices in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and possibly other regions.

Similar to other versions of Amazon Prime Video, the Apple TV app allows Prime subscribers to sign into their accounts and watch Amazon Prime exclusive TV series, as well as browse a collection of movies. Users can add shows and movies to a watchlist, sync their watchlist across devices, and use Amazon's X-Ray feature to look into the actors and crew members behind each show and movie.

Universal Search is now supported in the updated iOS app, allowing users to search for Prime videos using the native Search function on their devices, while the app also supports iPhone X displays. The tvOS app is obviously a separate component of the installation, but Amazon Prime should be available on third-generation Apple TVs as well as fourth-gen and 4K Apple TVs, according to the release notes. We're waiting for clarification on generational support.

Prior to its official launch, there were numerous release date rumors surrounding the Amazon Prime Video tvOS app. The first pointed to its launch on the day of the iPhone X keynote event, and then a separate report from Recode countered that rumor with sources that claimed the app would not be ready at that time. Later in September, the next rumor predicted its launch alongside Thursday Night Football, and when that date came and went the most recent rumor -- sourced from a Redditor claiming to work for Amazon -- predicted an October 26 debut.

Yesterday, a redditor opened up the App Store and saw an Amazon Prime Video story as the top feature in the "Today" section, after he had manually turned his device's clock forward by a day. He linked the section on reddit, which other users were able to see temporarily before the content was pulled by Apple. The "Today" App Store description in question specifically referenced Amazon Prime Video for Apple TV, which was finally launched today.

Amazon Prime Video was one of the last remaining streaming service holdouts to release a tvOS app, so users will now be able to rely on the 4th and 5th generation Apple TV devices a little more without having to use a PlayStation 4, Fire TV, or Roku to jump to Amazon's video catalog. In terms of other Apple products with Amazon Prime Video apps, users can also watch Prime shows on iPhone and iPad with the company's iOS app [Direct Link], which also supports downloading select videos to view offline.

Apple TV not appearing on Amazon’s website (yet).

So a couple of observations (don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to have this):

- The toggle for your watchlist doesn't have an indicator on the movie tile (or description header), the only cue is in the lower right where the "Hold to ..." changes from Add to Remove (and back again). I'd like to see a better UI indicator when you're scrolling through content as to what's in your watch list.

- It doesn't appear that the app is part of the deep/global search (via Siri), I tried it with a few titles, and I got hits on Hulu, iTunes, etc., but nothing on Amazon.

Wow, what a pain to get installed and working on my ATV 4. Sorry to complain after the long wait for it. But I would have never found this App without you guys’ advice here. I am on the non-techy, older user side. I guess it was Amazon that made it hard to find? Anyway, thanks for the How to Find advice.
