Although I'm personally happy about this, Apple caving in to another company is NOT a good sign for the Apple TV's performance, at least in Apple's eyes. If anyone remembers, Amazon removed the Apple TV from their website; Apple TVs were no longer allowed to be sold new on Amazon.com. This was a war and Cupertino lost. I'd just like to know what specifically was at stake?

Subscribed Prime a couple months ago for US2.99 monthly for first 6 months.

Watching those 4K content on the pre-installed Tizen app in Samsung 4K TV is pretty nice.

Sweet! I did not want to add another box just for Amazon Prime and watching any streaming service through my Bluray player is painful. I hope it will work on ATV3.

I'm not sure who to blame for the lack of an app so far. Apple's unfavorable terms (and 30% cut) or Amazon refusing to accept those terms. I'm just glad the issue is (apparently) resolved.

This will save me $60. I was on the verge of breaking down to buy 2 Roku sticks just so I could watch Prime without Airplay mirroring. Guess I'll just wait til summer!

The 30% is nonsense. I renew my prime membership directly through Amazon. I never buy anything through the Prime apps. Consumers need to understand when a company is pissing on their legs and telling them it's raining.

I am a heavy Prime user and ended up picking up a Shield (great device) so I could get 4K video from the various streaming options that support it. When Apple finally releases a 4K ATV, I'll take a look at it as no 4k and Prime are big handicaps and why I rarely use my ATV4 these days.

In the past couple of years, I have been asking Amazon to discount Amazon Prime subscription because they don't have support ATV. If they don't get their act together, I am going to have to negotiate again at renewal time.

I solved the problem ... bought an amazon fire tv box. It is more then good enough and Netflix is also available.

Maybe has something to do with Amazon bringing out a full TV Service (like Sling, Hulu, Vue, Youtube, Directv Now) and felt they needed to be on Apple TV to get as many subscriptions as possible.

I expect like Hulu you either pay more thru iTunes Payment or you continue to pay via the Amazon.com Web Site or like some you only have the option to pay via the provider web site (amazon.com in this case).

Sounds as good an excuse as Tim Cook stating iPhone 7 sales missed expectations because of the iPhone 8 rumours.....
You really don't think that's plausible? Being a G3 status on here, surely you've seen how many folks have lamented the same old design and waiting until the 2017 model debuts.

Except no Airplay mirroring, iTunes library, etc.

AirPlay mirroring? Their are several apps for that on the Fire TV. And iTunes? Well considering Amazon offer all the same content for the same price and have apps on almost every device, then that's a win for Amazon too :)

I would happily state it's a fact that the majority of iPhone customers from the global mass market do NOT follow ANY Apple rumours INCLUDING the iPhone.

The mass majority of iPhone users just want an iPhone. It's because they are expensive and have no reason to upgrade. Also G3 means I need to get a life haha.

This is so great! I have been wanting this forever! This with Netlifx, Playstation Vue(with HBO) and Amazon, all my bases are covered for my needs and wants!

Agreed. I'm not missing much by not having it on the Apple TV. It'll be nice to have it all together though.

Dumped amazon prime last year. Too late to swallow the pride amazon.
Im not gonna go back.
I dumped it last month after trying it out for a bit. I've no interest in their slow-burning TV shows. The film selection is abysmal. So many extremely bad films, and the good ones don't hang around v long. I favourited a load but when I came back to watch them they'd already gone from Prime. What use is that?

I find the LoveFilm service better value - or at least it was until they started getting greedy and now limit the discs to two per month - used to be unlimited. Still ok though for £4 per month.

It may not be the fact that a new Apple TV would be 4K. My guess is if Apple is releasing a new Apple TV with 4K, then they may have gone to Amazon with more of a willingness to work them to get their content onto ATV. All just speculation of course.

I doubt the 4K ATV is going to debut until iTMS has 4K videos itself. Apple is not going to go to Amazon begging for a 4K app so Amazon can sell its videos to ATV users. Also HBO, SHO, Hulu, and other content providers now on ATV have 4K content if they just want 4K compatible apps.
