If you think that's creepy, just imagine my surprise yesterday after going from iOS 12.4 to 13.1, getting in my car, and seeing the new CarPlay displaying my exact GPS position while driving dispite not having either Apple Maps or Google Maps open...
GPS doesn't need to connect to a server to get your location. It just listens for the pings from satellites and triangulates appropriately. There's nothing remotely creepy about it.

I've got to think that Apple is working on some of these products in their own "Apple Way". At least I hope so anyway. With an Apple price tag as well I'm sure. Still, competition is great for we consumers.

I hope Apple comes back into WIFI Router business.

They already had the ability to take an Airport Extreme and extend it with an Airport Express. All they needed was the "mesh" functionality that everyone is using today.

The single-router setup is obsolete in my eyes... one big router that you hope covers everywhere. It only works if you live in a small space.

I prefer to have multiple nodes spread throughout the house to increase coverage.

Apple was almost there years ago with the Extreme and Express. But they exited the market.

And companies like Eero jumpstarted the "mesh" market.

Amazing how many people are willing to put Amazon's microphones in every corner of their house.

I don't even have "Hey Siri" enabled on my phone. It feels so creepy to have something always listening.

Not much weirder than people carrying a GPS tracking device equipped with a microphone everywhere they go, posting their lives on Facebook.

How is that creepy? Your phone has GPS and is displaying it on a larger screen. That’s all CarPlay is.

The buds look a loot like Bragi Dash/Headphones.

Now, if they came in swim proof with internal memory and good fit even for small ears, I’d be willing to pay a good premium for this. Apple (or noone else for that matter) doesn’t seem to recognize there actually is a demographic for this

They’ll literally shove Alexa in anything these days.

Thermostats, smoke detectors, clocks, microwaves, glasses, GPS mounts, mirrors, lamps, light switches, fridges...

Sure, you can make a use case for each one. But how many more years before every household object has an “Alexa inside” version?

I love Amazon service but I have no interest in any of their tech hardware.
I think they recently jumped the shark. Their core business of delivery is now awful and I'm not the only one that has noticed. I order about $100k worth of items per year for business and home and about 50% of my items over the past 3 months have arrived several days later than promised. Right now is a great time for a competitor to swoop in and steal away customers like myself.

330,000,000 people in America, I am not a criminal and I don't cheat on my wife—-what is the real likelihood someone really cares where I am located while driving. I have been in digital marketing and believe me, everyone considers us a potential customer and nothing more.

There's also a new option to add celebrity voices to Amazon devices to change Alexa's voice. Celebrity voice options will be available for $0.99, and the first one, coming later this year, is going to be Samuel L. Jackson's voice.
I can finally live my dream of having my smart speaker yell, "You've got a new text from Jason, motherf***r!)

In all seriousness, while some of this is cool, those "Day One" products are mind-blowingly pointless. We all have smart watches, Amazon, why the hell would we want to spend $100 on a smart ring???

Amazon is aggressively pushing their advantage. Most of these are probably DoA, but Amazon is making sure they find every niche they can embed themselves in. I think Alexa is going to be tough to unseat.
I agree that this definitely seems to be their strategy, haha. I can't say I see an existing market for most of this stuff, so we'll see, I guess!

they are no where near the first with a ’smart ring’, and it’s equally as pointless..

Sure, I’m going to put a bunch of Amazon spyware in my home.

Bezos and Amazon don’t even pay taxes. How ethical and society-minded do people think they are?

Headline should have been
"Amazon releases multiple new mass surveillance devices to better probe your life and those around you"

And the exact same should also be Apples event headlines... only Amazon tell you what it’s doing and let’s you opt out! Stop with the fear mongering already.

The worst thing I can see Amazon doing whilst interacting with my GUID is suggesting a different type of toilet paper to sell me. Meanwhile, Facebook trundles on unabated...

Holy hell, Amazon wants to listen to your conversations everywhere.

A couple of months ago I was sitting in my neighbors kitchen shooting the breeze and I happened to mention that I needed a new tire for my bike. I never looked this up on any of my devices, never searched for it online, etc....He had an echo in the room but at no point did we trigger it by saying Alexa.... Anyhow a couple of days later he tells me that he is getting constant ads and pop ups on his phone and laptop for local and online bike shops. He immediately got rid of the echo.

Amazon even debuted a new Alexa-equipped Smart Oven that can cook common foods through Alexa voice commands. Priced at $250, it is a combination microwave, convection oven, air fryer, and food warmer.

ALEXA!!! THE MEATLOAF!!!

Apple needs to take note of the style of earbuds. That is the proper style for workout compatible earbuds, not AirPods. Jabra did it right. Amazon is doing it right.
