Caught up with the last two episodes (2nd half of season)- for those who have missed it's mostly the group wandering around looking for each other, trying to reconnect, Carl figures out he's not quite as grown up as he thought... ;) Abraham Ford shows up, at the end.

I been following the TV series since season 1, episode 4. Don't know anything about the comics. This last episode I thought for a second they encountered a super walker when the axe got stuck in his head and he was still moving. Got excited. Can't wait to see what this new character at the end is about.

I was thinking that it was because Rick was so weak, he did not penetrate the skull adequately.

I think all of us are. I do like how they showed up! But I am wondering if they are going to stick to the story (comic) or take them in a different direction.

I was thinking the same thing. However, I have not read the comics, so I'm not sure if this is the case or there is something new happening to the undead.

This is how I took it also. Rick was just way to weak to cause any real damage. Carl had to step in and stop the threat.

That walker was a big guy though.

I'm reading the comic and up to about episode 116 and I believe the latest is 118 or so. They have made it to a new place, have a new conflict with an adversarial force and so far there is no hint of "super walkers" unless I somehow overlooked it.

Just watched the episode from a week ago called "Claimed" where Rick is stuck hiding under a bed to avoid some raiders. This was one of the best I've seen in a while, a nice change of pace. ;)

No you are correct, I have not read anything remotely close to a super walker either in the comics.

I agree, that scene was pretty intense from the time we hear the guys coming in to the time we see them running away. Great suspense!

I am curious do you think these guys could be part of the Hunters? I kind of had that feeling when I saw one of the characters, and he is a known actor that they may keep on the show longer than just one episode.

I kind of hope we do get to see the hunters.... There is a lot to cover, and Robert has stated we will see Negan. I just hope not this soon!!

Mild Spoilers regarding comic plot direction, likely in the Show

I'd say a good probability they could be Hunters. I hope they don't rush it. As I recall there should be a couple of episodes for them to get to and get established in DC, in fact they could spend the rest of this season doing that and introducing him next Fall. I like the guy who is playing Abraham Ford and Rosita as pretty as I imagined her. ;)

Since my post, The Walking Dead Comics are up to issue 122, releasing 2 a month. I usually wait until their price drops to $1.99 for the digital version, so looking forward to purchasing episode 117, published back in Nov. For anyone considering purchasing digital comics Image Comics is the place to go for DRM free issues.

I agree, I hope they don't rush it!!! The seem to be moving at an "ok" pace right now. From what I remember on the show "The Talking Dead", they mentioned it is going to pick up towards the end of the season.

I am wondering if they are even going to try and go to DC at this point.

I agree with both of you; however, my wife is not in the same camp. She thinks all this "character development" stuff for this half-season is getting boring.

I can see her point to. My buddy is in the same boat. Lets see more killing and zombies.... and zombies killing people etc.

I have a feeling it is going to pick up over the next few episodes though.

Tell your buddy and wife that if this show was just about zombie killing, it would not have lasted this long. It is character interaction, relationships, and survival morality, that is what keeps it entertaining. Zombie crisises have their moments, but they are not what sustain the story. :):)

I couldn't agree more!!! And I have told him. He looks at me and goes back to his phone lol.

After watching tonight's episode, I just realized what a rut this show was in at the prison. The second half of this season has gotten really good. It feels different. Of course it could just be me, or a new director, but the small group interactions and relationship development that is currently going on is moving in a great direction. When Darryl got separated from Beth, I assume by abduction, then he ran into that group, maybe the same group that Rick had run into, my interest elevated greatly. :)

I think the guy with the bandana on in that group, was the same guy who saw Rick when he got choked to sleep. I could be wrong, since they barely showed him in the scene with Daryl.

Soooo, over the last few weeks, I've watched every single ep and just caught up to the weekly releases. Man, great TV. Never read the comics and haven't looked over the the thread, but holy ****. This is some un-****ing-believable show! I am so sad I've gotta wait a week for one ep. I've been watching 3-4 almost every night. Feels like I've hit a brick wall. :)

Direction wise, I gotta think they're heading to DC at some point. No reason to bring it up unless they're gonna go for it. Even the spoon Beth held up in the Clubhouse was a hint at DC. Plus, you can't hint at a cause and solution without some kind of follow up. No reason to insert those teases if they aren't planning on getting some mileage out of it.

Terminus. Doesn't sound like a good idea. Surprised everyone but Sasha(?) is on board with heading there. They must have a printing press with all those signs at every damn intersection!

Survival is the key, but living a decent life means grouping with others in large numbers for protection and to share the load. They have no choice but to check out Terminus.

In these zombie days, it's always a risk any time a new group is encountered until they can figure out who they are dealing with- civil people, dictatorship, or murderers. It's all a big crap shoot that involves extreme caution. My perspective is that roaming around the country side can be temporary only, in an attempt to find others, otherwise it's a long term losing game.

Only watched 2 episodes of this season so far, I think I've finally gotten bored of it. The episodes are downloaded and ready to go but there is zero motivation for me to carry on.

But! Have the last few been good?

I dunno. People for the most part, have been trouble. I'd be assuming that the more people, the bigger the potential for issues. Supplies and food run out quicker with larger groups, greater potential for an inside zombie attack and extremely high risk of corrupt leadership would be some of my most pressing fears.

I'd want to be in an isolated location with 10-15 max. I'd look for a sail boat on a large body of water like a lake, river or ocean. A boat has always had an established hierarchy and isolationist mentality that seems to be a key for survival in those times.

Not the best, but the show is moving in a different direction and they're taking the proper time to establish it. Can definitely see a plot point building.
