So anticlimactic. They didn't even address last week's ending until Darryl came out of the truck.

Sigh, no comment. Wait small comment...
He did not look or talk like Negan. :p
Great season.

And this is why I don't watch movies when I've read the book.

I'm going to have a difficult time buying Jeffrey Dean Morgan as a bad guy.

I expected more from a season finale, but since a cliffhanger was expected, I guess it wasn't too much of a let down.

Steven Ogg was the highlight of the episode for me. Seeing Trevor Phillps from GTAV personified was pretty epic.
So that's who that was!!! Thank u, I knew I knew him from somewhere. Oh yeah, ending was a god damn sopranos like cop out crap fest.

One thing that was odd was the advert for Norman Reedus' RIDE show...never recalled seeing that during commercial break for an episode this season, just during other programming. Perhaps because he's on Talking Dead or...well, you know...

Oh well...

I think they did a better job of exposing the scale of the Saviors' operation as compared to book. The build up took longer, but the stakes are higher with the number of Saviors killed.

I miss Negan's "colorful" language, but I thought JDM captured every other part of his character.

The menacing charisma is spot on.

I loved Steven Ogg as well, I think he made a great lieutenant for Negan. By comparison Dwight seems like a wimp.

The highlight of the show for me was the Carol/Morgan/Kingdom sub-story. The role reversal brought that whole tension full circle.

I can't wait to see how they cast and introduce Ezekiel.

Boy that shadow sure does look like it might be Carl. It would make sense in a way since he was found with one of their guns on him and that they now know he's Rick's boy. It'd make for one hell of an example.

I was expecting more action from this episode really, but it wasn't bad or a letdown in any way.

Watching Morgan actually kill someone again was a bit surprising to see. What is it that Carol thinks she is going to do, what's her end game, before she was shot of course? Was she just going to walk the Earth in solitude the rest of her days?

my money is Rick because of the comment he made about Carl before proceeding to club.

Even Chandler Riggs says he doesn't know! Negan knows that would be a sure fire way to alienate Rick, and that's not what he's about.

It would also eliminate the whole Carl/Negan "mutual respect" storyline from the book. Carl was spared because Negan respected a kindred "future serial killer" spirit.

The whole initial calculus Negan does in picking his victim is clearer in the book.

I respect what Gimple and Kirkman said on Talking Dead. This episode's story was bout Rick, resetting his world view from we're invincible to "bitch nuts".

That was straight from the book, except he wanted to feed he eye to Sophia.

There's some speculation by those who have over scrutinized that last scene saying that it was Glenn because after the first whack or so you can hear "Maggie"...

On Talking Dead, Scott Gimple said he wants to do that scene justice by the fans so I hope at the beginning of Season 7 I hope we get to see it instantly and not from first person view again...unless it's Negan's POV. How bad ass would that be?! Not some long drawn out season premiere where we have to wait until the end of the episode, that routine is getting stale.

Also, Gimple mentioned that Season 7 is shaped around this character's death and how it affects the rest characters and their future. Which should imply that it would have to be someone who has had huge impact on the rest of the characters. Glenn, Dayrl and/or Abraham.

Other things noted during the line-up:
-Abraham looked fearless, like he was about to revolt, even in that situation.
-Daryl didn't make a peep.
-Michonne was just as quiet.

Side note, I wonder how things are at Alexandra? Does Judith have enough diapers? Will Father G charge overtime for his extended babysitting duties? Will Enid find a new outfit while locked in the closet? o_O

Yes, blood on the camera lense was crass manipulation. Darryl looked pretty good. :)

...difference is, this is not over.

...and his kitty.

They wasted too much time that could have been better spent pushing the story forward, making for almost a wasted episode, especially 90 minutes, just to meet the bad guy. Multiple repetitive back away slowly encounters was a failure, or more likely a production timing, filler issue. But why waste an extra 30 min for this purpose? Blah.

Besides meeting the bad guy and see that Darryl is still alive and apparantly in decent shape, the Carol/Morgan sequence was the only satisfying reason to watch this episode.

And now it seems the action earlier, where Rick's group is going after the Saviors is out of place. It would have been better, instead of mixing it up (the story) just to mix it up, they should have followed the buildup in the comic sequence when rebellion finally occurs.

Boy that shadow sure does look like it might be Carl. It would make sense in a way since he was found with one of their guns on him and that they now know he's Rick's boy. It'd make for one hell of an example.

She basically seems ready to die, living is too painful, a play on the comic Carol. I really did not buy the stated reason, along the lines of l'm dangerous to those I love. No, she's dangerous to those she dislikes, lol. :)

They pulled a sopranos and went to black. We don't know yet.

See above.

hated that move

I think the rest of the world is in the same boat, or at least the vast majority. The writers could have capitalized on Negan's introduction and made fans hate him instantly. Seeing it would have created more tension and a real sense of loss rather than a cliffhanger. I guess the Glenn-Under-The-Dumpster but taught them nothing. Now they run the risk of it of it being spoiled before season 7 returns..

I thought the episode was great. The slow build up that was the complete devastation of Rick's confidence was superbly well done. Rck's brokenness during the Negan monologue was incredible. Wonderful acting and great storytelling. The Carol thing is a little tough for me , but I see how it's impacting Morgan and that is big.

Which will make the reaction in the aftermath all that much more rewarding. As long as they stick with the book:

"Not today, not tomorrow ... but I WILL KILL you."

Just the rest of issue 100 could be turned into 20-30 minutes of TV. Negan's got a lot to say.

There's some speculation by those who have over scrutinized that last scene saying that it was Glenn because after the first whack or so you can hear "Maggie"...
Which of course is exactly how it goes in the book.

It would be a waste to have Maggie die after the nice setup they did with her and Gregory at the Hilltop. As in the book she soon becomes leader of the Hilltop.

Did anybody else catch the dialogue that was said as the screen faded to black? We had to rewind it a few times but there is possible a big clue in it.

To us, it sounded like: "m-mag", "maggiiiie", and then you can hear a few different voices saying something along the lines of no, god no, etc.......

It was at the very least somebody from the van. Glenn, Daryl, Michonne, or Rosita. They only showed from one characters perspective all episode. So it's probably Glenn.

If it is Carl, that would be pretty huge and would probably break Rick. That picture with the shadow is pretty damaging, but I don't think it is Carl.

I can't wait to see what they do with Ezekiel either. Going to be very interesting on if or how they handle his companion.

I just caught up on the season. While the last episode was quite annoying, the season overall was really good I thought.

Despite the cowboy hat shadow linked above, it can't be that Rick or Carl are killed as this line would then make no sens: "Anybody moves, anybody says anything, cut the boy's other eye out and feed it to his father and then we'll start."

My bet is it's either Glenn, Abraham, or Aaron. Glenn, the obvious choice per the comics' plot line. Abraham was foreshadowed by Negan explaining he usually kills the strongest of the group, Abraham had a sort of coming to terms moment when he looked at Maggie's ultrasound baby picture and his talk with Sasha which in a way finalizes the character, and with his little fight with Eugene where Eugene said he is no longer needed. Aaron has just become a sort of two-dimensional character, mostly used to deliver a line that really any other character could say.
