Maybe they are taking this GPUs because other dies chips like the 480 are more power hungry and don't fit in the thermal design or power supply of the new ultra thin MacBook Pro. Just saying.
The Razer Blade has a 250 W PSU compared to Apple's 80-ish. It is possible to have a more powerful PSU in a thin laptop. I think Apple's pursuit of thinness is what's not allowing better GPUs ... or something.

The Razer Blade is relatively thin and has a GTX 1080. Power is not an issue. I would blame Apple's relentless pursuit of thinness as the reason, but it could be that Apple is just greedy.

But your original post was crapping on Apple being greedy for not using the Radeon 470 and 480 GPUs.

As those device offer substantially greater processing, the resulting power dissipation would be far greater than the 35 watts the 460 dissipates (assuming they were suitable for mobile use). That translates to a much shorter battery life as GPU power dissipation can be a big chunk of the laptop's total power dissipation, the other two large drivers being the CPU and display.

When you claimed there was innovation on the Surface Studio screen and I asked you to name it but yoo couldn't (because there is none) who looked like the loyalist? I didn't even mention Apple in that context. You can have another chance, here we go: where's the innovation in that screen?
I think pretty much anyone in here can see how ridiculous you're being. Here's something you can do ... please explain to me why it's NOT innovative?

$2,800 for the Emoji Pro with a $50 bottom of the barrel Polaris GPU with 2GB of memory.

I think it should be entirely up to the consumer how much power they want to use.

Was comparing the TFlops of this GPU compared to the 460 RX.

The Razer Blade

okay I see.

And the Razer Blade 14" is thicker than MBP too.
a trade off, a little thicker, a little more powerful GPU.

I like the Razer blade, though it does get very very hot, and very loud. I'd probably still get one though, if it had an apple trackpad and mac OS

I'm sorry but this is truly pathetic. They only offer up to the 460 in even the top end MacBook Pro. Where's the 470 or even 480? You can spend nearly 5 grand after tax on the maxed out MacBook Pro and you're getting an AMD 460 and 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. Please tell me how Apple is not trying to rob everyone blind? Prices haven't been this absurd in a very long time.

Dude, it has FOUR THUNDERBOLT 3 PORTS. You can hook up any GPU externally like it was on a PCI 3 16-lane slot!! Hook up a Titan or whatever.

Good god you people are thick.

You have yet to say anything relevant that doesn't showcase your blind loyalty to Apple and showcase your inability to remain objective and open-minded. It really is not fun talking to a wall.

It's just a screen on a hinge with a pizza box pc under it. Not one iota of innovation.

I see the 15" MBP and the Razer Blade 14" as both very good options.

The Razer Blade is a little more powerful, but also thicker.

The MacBook pro is a little less powerful, but thinner, cooler, better battery life.

But honest question what do we think the Rx460 is like 70-80% of GTX 1060m?
it's not a 1060m it's the same chip found on their cards. It's a straight up 1060.

Apple calls this designing for the experience? What experience? Overpaying for budget parts experience?

For the $4249AUD price tag they should be including a GTX 1080 not a Radeon 455 that you need to pay an additional $160 to upgrade to a 460.

Pride flag? Dude, how old are you? And I mean that honestly. You are disrespectful in most of your posts without saying much. You sound like a person with a lot of deep-seated anger.

Lmao where's the innovation in a screen on a hinge? What's comparable about a 8lb gaming laptop to a rMBP?

Your baseless claims of innovation got called and you couldn't back them up and now you're resorting to ad-hominem attacks :D This is hilarious.

true

so consumers choose between thickness and GPU power.

sorry, I meant to say 1060.
buy you are wrong, its the 1060 mobile version. nvidia just dropped the -m branding on their mobile cards.
It's like 85-90% the performance of desktop 1060

You people are so daft. While you are bawwing, I will be doing WTFIW with 3.1 gb/sec of 2TB SSD and an overclocked NVIDIA Titan hooked up over Thunderbolt 3 in an external liquid nitrogen tank.

Get a plastic, piece of crap PC if you want!! Or if you are unwilling/unable to afford the best laptop on the planet, the MacBook Pro.

It's a laptop. Why would I want to tug around an external GPU enclosure when I can have the GPU in the laptop itself?

The PC that was shown is not plastic.
