I was really hoping at least GTX-1050/1060m versions...but I wouldn't be surprised if they made the Mac Pro so thin they can't even put in something like that. They're just becoming super expensive iPads with no internal room for much performance. It's important to remember that mobile 1050/60's would have been options in Macbook Pro's of old. This is a change.

Everything else is gradually dying off while they tell you how great this is. Never thought I'd see the day when Microsoft is threatening to take the higher end laptop and artistic market from Apple, but here we are.

\-V-/ I think we're part of the world (along with expandable Mac Pro's & iMacs with serious graphics power) that Apple is comfortable to abandon in favor of iThingy's. Bummer...

Oh. I'm not sure what the mobile versions are. I'm not even sure there are mobile versions yet except for what's in the MBP. I think NVIDIA was the first to the laptop race for this new gen so far.

Thank you. I'm pretty sure you are correct. And now you have the answer to your two questions in post #9:

"I'm sorry but this is truly pathetic. They only offer up to the 460 in even the top end MacBook Pro. Where's the 470 or even 480?"

and

"Please tell me how Apple is not trying to rob everyone blind? Prices haven't been this absurd in a very long time."

The Razer Blade is relatively thin and has a GTX 1080. Power is not an issue. I would blame Apple's relentless pursuit of thinness as the reason, but it could be that Apple is just greedy.

The machine you linked to is 7.8lbs, appears not to have a listed price and isn't out yet. How is this in any way relevant to the rMBP?
Probably because it's relatively thin and has the highest GPU available, sans Titan. It's relevant since super thick laptops were given as an example. A laptop doesn't need to be thick to have a decent GPU. The smaller versions use the 9 series. Apple is using the bottom of the barrel GPUs in their 2500 dollar laptops. How do you not see the point based on the context of this conversation?

Don't forget the cool rainbow keyboard. "Pro" as hell...

I'm sorry but this is truly pathetic. They only offer up to the 460 in even the top end MacBook Pro. Where's the 470 or even 480? You can spend nearly 5 grand after tax on the maxed out MacBook Pro and you're getting an AMD 460 and 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. Please tell me how Apple is not trying to rob everyone blind? Prices haven't been this absurd in a very long time.
They are not because they they are not holding a gun to your head.

It should be okay. The 460 in the MBP is about 15% less powerful than the RX 460 and the RX 460 can run quite a few games.

I believe you. I have been hearing around many places that the mobile GPUs are about 15% less powerful than the desktop counterparts, can I get a link to that?

In what parallel universe did you slip into to think that the only viable option for a laptop GPU is bottom tier? Have you never heard of or seen other laptops in this price range? They all have much more powerful GPUs and do quite fine with both power and heat.

I get it. You are a fanboy and your feelings are hurt. I'm really sorry. Maybe next year they'll put out some machines that aren't trash and you can put a big smile on your face when everybody cheers for Apple once again. Until then, I'm sorry for your loss. Best regards and all that.

Damn I didn't know they were releasing a Blade Pro, I was think about the standard but that thing looks like a beast. Both of the Blade's are looking pretty tasty.

Because you obviously have to leave it as a rainbow... It can be a simple white backlight if you choose.

Ah, "fanboy" the last resort of the guy who doesn't have anything relevant to say ;)

So disappointed with the GPU's they went with. I miss the days when a new generation of MacBook Pro's meant we'd get a top of the line mobile GPU. This is not the Apple I know.

And 1060 and 1070 and 1080. I think gone are the days of Apple including an actually decent dGPU in their computers.

The 460 is like the bottom of the rung in those line of GPUs ... there is the 470, 480, and soon to come 490. Apple yet again is crapping on everyone for profit. These GPUs aren't even expensive either. I literally do not understand their logic. They keep talking about driving 5k content and displays and offer completely under-powered dGPUs. It boggles the mind.

Maybe they are taking this GPUs because other chips like the 480 are more power hungry and don't fit in the thermal design or power requirements of the new ultra thin MacBook Pro. Just saying.

I see the 15" MBP and the Razer Blade 14" as both very good options.

The Razer Blade is a little more powerful, but also thicker.

The MacBook pro is a little less powerful, but thinner, cooler, better battery life.

But honest question what do we think the Rx460 is like 70-80% of GTX 1060m?

You have yet to say anything relevant that doesn't showcase your blind loyalty to Apple and showcase your inability to remain objective and open-minded. It really is not fun talking to a wall.

When you claimed there was innovation on the Surface Studio screen and I asked you to name it but yoo couldn't (because there is none) who looked like the loyalist? I didn't even mention Apple in that context. You can have another chance, here we go: where's the innovation in that screen?
