Oh, wow. That's funny! I wasn't paying all that much attention last night and so I missed Chris' shout-out (not that I would have known that's who he was shouting-out to). I did however enjoy the glares from Simon when Peter Noone said that AI wasn't a singing competition, but a "voting" competition.DavidLeblond said:

Caught a little bit of it last night and I was floored by Sanjaya's performance. I have not seen that bad a performance since Nikki McKibbin. (I'm equally floored by the fact I spelled Nikki's name correctly)
I wasn't going to mention him. But since you did- Sanjaya doesn't merely need to be sent home anymore, he needs to be killed.

I agree with you except for the order. I think Jordin really stood out last night.
But of course, Melinda was flawless as usual.
i cannot BELIEVE america is still voting for sanjaya. the teen girls who think he's cute are the only ones who think he's actually good... if he doesn't get booted soon, i'm afraid of what's going to become of "american" idol. bad singing is NOT american!! ahh!!!

Sanjaya is turning into the AI perfect storm...pre-teen girls with no gaydar, older sugar-daddy types with gaydar and the votefortheworst crowd.
hehehe i don't know who to be sorry for now... the ones that have to go on tour with him or those that pay to see the tour or the next few weeks if he stays on. however in foxs point of view, he and the crying girl (she was all over the news the last few days, i swear) are the best thing of the season.
not to mention the VFTW crowd that found out on from howard but it is pretty clear that the voting system could be done better.

Bye-bye Stephanie- no big loss. But Sanjaya is still there,
in the early rounds i thought stephanie could give the big two, lakisha and melinda, a race for the finish, but she was mediocre in her last performance, but not bad either
still, i was shocked that stephanie went since there were a few who did not do quite as well...overall, nobody was really bad on tuesday night
sanjaya, while not the very best, was certainly the most improved of all of the singers and saved himself for another week of american idol
if that "crying girl" is any indication of who votes on this show, then sanjaya will make the top four or five this season
sanjaya, if he improves 10% percent each week, can actually win this whole thing since we are talking about idols and not pure singers
sanjaya is like the mediocre (but ok) david cassidy, shaun cassidy, donny osmond, and leif garret of the old days of pop idol-dom
but from my opinion, or guess, he can never get past lakisha or melinda...they own the show this season
Really? You think that performance was an improvement? I found it completely cringe worthy. In fact, I did actually cringe through the whole song. It was so bad I could hardly look at the TV screen.
Sanjaya is horrible. Not ok. Horrible.
Melinda. Lakisha, while a good singer, has almost NO personality. She barely even smiles. That'll kill her.
For the others, I can't stand that Chris R guy's voice. Phil Stacey is probably the 2nd worse singer there. Blake's beatboxing will take him far, but his singing is nothing special. And the other Chris's voice, to me, is pretty forgettable as well.
I don't even remember anyone else. So that explains them.
that little girl that was crying all thru sanjaya's performance probably had A LOT to do with why he is still there this week. Also, ashlee (i think thats her name), is now on every television screen across america and has been a guest on a the Big Story with John Gibson. She's now a household name for 15 minutes.
So who goes after tonight? I seriously think Sligh is in trouble after that mess he made. Haley was terrible too. After last night I would say the best were:

I think Sanjaya might be the worst ever Idol. After hearing him last night I thought that was the worst performance ever.

if sanyaga wins, this will show the world how much of a joke big label music is nowadays, just based on image only, not on singing talent. i bet we'll see a small surge in indie labels in the coming months if this happens as well.
also, idol should be canned asap if that actually happens.
