American Idol 2008

Tonight was sad. It was sad to see such a good artist go. Brooke White. I really liked her style and she was unique. I thought maybe Jason or Syesha would go, but I was wrong. I know she will go far but I feel very sorry for her. She was very emotional and she knew she was going home :(

Ugh. I think Brooke's a better actress than she is a singer. Was not sorry to see her go.

My prediction is that the final two will be the two Davids, and that David Cook will be the winner.

Brooke is a good singer. She has a style that many people like, like me. I do think that the final two will be the two Davids, but David Archuleta will win. He has more fans.
 
Yeah- I think Jason needs to go next. That guy is one of the laziest contestants I've seen in years. Bt he's cute, and the girls are voting for him. Brooke is gonna be fine though.

I believe that David Archuleta is more talented and one would guess that he has the largest number of fans at this point (I don't believe we have any way of knowing that). But I'm also thinking back to years past when there's been someone who was obviously the most talented (e.g. Melinda Doolittle) but didn't walk away with the prize, and that's why I have this gut feeling that Cook will win it.
 
We get AI here in Japan a couple of weeks later than the US broadcast. Don't know why I watch it but I guess it is a bit of entertainment none-the-less

Anyway, it is interesting how the winners from the last 2 seasons are not doing well on the charts. Sure Jordin Sparks has a hit with No Air but I think it is because of Chris Brown not her. And how about Taylor Hicks? Did he even sell any CD's and wasn't he dropped from his label?

Mind you, I do not think that the winners and runners-up have a whole heap of originality of late, although Daughtry seems to have hit the right spot - with over 3 million CD's sold in the USA and 75 or so weeks on the chart...and he came 4th?

That being said, I don't think Archuleta will be commercially successful and sell well, but I do think Cook will as he shows more creative talent - especially when he reworks the arrangements - and Simon Cowell is correct when he says that Cook is able to take a song and make it sound like it was written today, something alot of existing recording artists would be good to follow given the crap that is out there of late.

Syesha will voted off next with a 3 guy showdown to the final...
 
What dire shows the last couple of weeks. That bloke with dred locks and the weak soppy pathetic voice, he is just so annoyingly awful. And the young lad who Andrew Loyd Webber told to keep his eyes open is almost as annoying. The girls are no better thank goodness they got rid of that screaming Irish girl who just shouted but had no real voice.

Of the remaining lot only that indy sounding bloke is half decent but he is a one trick pony and makes any song sound like it is a Creed song (which is awful )

Paula Abdul is obviously pissed (she proved it last week) Simon is quite obviously bored. What a stupid idea to have songs by Maria Carey, Dolly Parton ( I mean Dolly Parton!!!) Andrew Loyd Webber and Neil Diamond.
 
Iv'e been watching this series and I agree its getting tedious. I don't think I'll bother next week. I am not interested in any of the surviving finalists winning. How can all the girls in the US rave about the guys, those little boys. They are wimpy wimps with thin whiny breaky voices to match. They need a decent rugged Aussie guy to counteract the sapping wimperishness. Well they had one but he was inexplicably knocked out.

The themes for the past few weeks have been stupid, I agree.

Paula: I am your biggest ever fan, I am looking at the next American Idol right now, You look gorgeous tonight

Simon: (the only one who speaks the truth and you can't knock his record) It was hideous.
 
So I haven't watched in months but I turned on the finally and David Cook should win but he won't. Is it me or is the other David just not that good. That was maybe the worst version of Imagine I have ever heard.

What are you doing reading new posts in this thread before you watched the finale? :confused: And it's not like there's more than 30 seconds of build up for the results anyway.
 
Wait till the ending when Paula goes on a killing spree. Oh no did I just give it away.

I made the mistake of reading through the daily thread update emails, which went out at around 9 PM local time. Remind me to unsubscribe from next year's American Idol thread. :p
