They're both a bit big, aren't they?

Let me state for the record that I've owned every single phone Apple has ever made. My friends would describe me as an Apple fanboy, so this is by no means hate from someone who hates apple, but after getting the 6 yesterday, I find it difficult to use. I absolutely cannot reach the top 1/4 of the phone without adjusting my palm; something I didn't have to do with my 5 or 5S. And once I do that, I can't reach the bottom without adjusting again. The two areas where navigation tend to be.

I remember when the 5 came out, Apple even ran an ad talking about they had designed a bigger screen that was still, you know, reachable by people, and that it was that attention to user experience that set them apart. I get why they made larger phones - people were demanding them and they were losing money to competitors with larger phones, but still.

And yes, there's "reachability," Apple's admission of guilt. Seems to me they were solving the wrong problem there.

You can pass on the "cool story, bro," I'm just asking a question. You might love your larger screen for a million other reasons, but it IS harder to use now, isn't it?

I understand that some people with larger hands are going to be loving these - awesome. But for most people, it's harder to get around now, isn't it?

I got the 6. Personally i think it's a TAD big. But maybe I just need to get used to it. 4.5 would have been perfect. I definitely would have hated the 6+. Thats just me.

Yup, I agree that the 6 is big (for me). 4.5" would've been perfect. I'm surprised they didn't release an updated 4" phone. Either way, I'm going to force myself to get used to the 6. We all have to get it more than a day before making these calls though.

I have the 6 + and yes it is big. It will take time to get used to. My android using friends say to give the size a couple of weeks then we'll love it. The previous iPhones were just really small if you think about it and that is what we are used to. I've had every iPhone and haven't used any other phone since its release in 2007 so like I said, we need to give it time so we can recalibrate for the bigger phones.

I'm finding that I'm having a hard time using the 6 one-handed with a case on. Without a case, it wasn't too much trouble. I do have somewhat small hands though (~7")

I don't think it's an admission of guilt, it's just trying to satisfy the one handed promise Apple fooled you guys with 2 years ago.

That's what "reachability" is for. It helps you use the bigger screen.
If you hate the bigger screen because it's hard to use, downgrade to the 5S, it's still a good phone.

I have the 6 with the leather case and I can reach the entire area of the screen with my right thumb except the upper left corner. Basically just where the carrier information is. Very usable and I think 4.7 is the perfect size.

Coworker got his 4.7" delivered to work yesterday and it fits my hand just nice (vs my 5 which is fairly small).

That said, I am worried that I ordered the 5.5" model because it might be too big.

Your coworker will be jealous of your 6+ whe he sees it. You'll have plenty of women and money at your feet as you walk around with the Apple flagship iPhone. You'll be fine. Enjoy.

Did not expect that :D:D but I am picking up the leather case today at my local Apple store so I'll be playing with the 6+ for the very first time!

Yes. They are both big. I had the 6 plus and just thought it was too big. The 6 is much more manageable for me but I can't reach thr top of the screen comfortably with one hand. That being said, if I had a choice I would have nought a 5 inch model. The 5.5 is just too big but I could deal with it if it was half an inch smaller

Got the 6+... Yes it's big.. That's why I bought it. No it's not easy to use with one hand, but thanks to the good lord, I happen to have two hands.

I'm satisfied with the iPhone 6 size. It is right on the edge of my comfort level, though. If Apple goes bigger on the 6 it will leave me behind, and the Plus is out of the question (maybe if I didn't have an iPad Air).

They ARE both big, but I've already adjusted to the new size of the 6, it's an excellent compromise between screen size and pocketability.

Have the iPhone 6. Yes, I wish it was a bit smaller. I find it hard to use with one hand, but I have very small hands. (I'm a woman). I'll get used to it, though.

No one can deny the size of the things, after all they are out there now to be seen. I've got a 6+ and I don't doubt that to some degree people will have varying degrees of difficulty using the larger screen sizes. Personally I don't mind, I knew what I was getting in to. As a gargantuan I can actually do the exact same corner to corner positioning that Apple lauded about the 4" screens when they came out.

I know I'm probably in a minority there and I will say that even though I can do it, I am "mentally" a little less comfortable from a dropping it sense, with one handed use when I'm out and about on the move. But it hasn't stopped me from doing so today with no incidents in a busy shopping centre (mall.)

Still I wouldn't change it for any other phone though, my other half thinks I'm crazy (which is why she has a 6) but it's perfect to me. That's the beauty of choice and individuality. We are all concentrating on the shiny new toys but let's not forget that Apple now has 4", 4.7" and 5.5" screen sizes to choose from right now all of which are attached to great devices. I think that should pretty much cover most peoples needs.

I had ordered a 6+ but it was scheduled for late Oct delivery and I honestly wasn't completely sold on the size. I ended up in Best Buy for something else yesterday and they had a 6 on display which I was able to compare with the Note. They still had a 6 in the combo I wanted so I went home with it. I really felt that while the 6+ will be a better Internet device, the 6 is still a great size for a phone/device I carry everywhere. It is barely noticeably bigger than my 5s but the screen makes it feel much more immersive.

I can easily reach 90% of the screen area one handed without adjusting my grip and even the corners are accessible one handed by rolling the phone in my hand slightly.

I have the iP6 and yes it is rather big.. I;m really hoping I get used to it.. maybe from years of using a smaller phone, it just feels awkward.

The 6 is exactly what I have been waiting for. The 6Plus is way to be.

Just the slightly bigger 6 screen gives me a keyboard that I am comfortable with. The extra realestate is just what I wanted. Sure it is bigger but it is no more of a shock than going from the 4 to the 5.

I could not be more happy!:apple:

the 4.7 is the perfect size phone in actuality. 4 is not cutting it anymore and becoming obsolete. 4.7 is the way to go.

5.5 is honestly big, but i want the biggest and the baddest LOL

----------

5s = superior design. Truth.

i wouldn't use the word superior... 5S was a fine piece because of the details, aka chaumferred edge. 6 is an amazing device, you can see the craftsmanship put into this thing as much as any apple device. both are gorgeous on their own rights.

Apple also add the ability for the screen to come down to you... double tap the home button and now you can reach everything. So they kept reachability in mind even though they went larger.

I have to honestly say no, and I have a 6 plus. My biggest fear in preordering was that the plus would be too unwieldy. But I have to say my biggest surprise so far has been how "unbig" the phone feels so far. I probably have bigger than average hands but not huge, I wear size large gloves. And I have to say I can do everything with this phone one-handed that I could do with the 5S without using reach ability or making any other allowances. I will say that the one thing I do it that instead of holding it in my palm as I would earlier iPhones i have this resting more on my fingers and that gives my thumb more room to operate, but it's quite comfortable and I really think the thinness of the device is what makes it that way, I'm not sure if it will be the same after adding the bulk of a case, we'll see.
