Yes, Flash is of course the biggest problem. Without it I will not be able to use Youtube, Myspace, Facebook and bunch of other main sites that I use frequently. At least not enjoyable at all! The iPad´s web experience is just plain bad experience in this department.

Also there´s other little goodies like being able to have lots of pages open and switch quickly with expose and having the Bookmarks Bar, being able to download files and stuff from websites and so on...

Funnily enough my good man, facebook does work, in fact it works on my ipod touch aswell?

so does youtube.....

not sure about myspace as it is an american thing

10" device isn´t anymore a "mobile" device as the iPhone is. It´s practically same size as the MBA = a laptop. So a mobile phone OS on a 10" device/laptop is ridiculous. Would you like iOS on the MBA? It´s practically the same thing.

MBA is perfectly able to handle the full web experience. So why can´t we have that on the iPad? Instead we have this terrible mobile web experience.

RIDICULOUS!!!

I'm getting a headache.

Sorry that the iPad doesn't play Farmville in the web browser. (There's an app for that !!!) Or that Redtube doesn't work. I don't play Popcap games on the laptop or desktop either. I can manage my bank account, stock portfolio, insurance, and 401K on the iPad. I have purchased products from various companies (eBay, New Egg, Amazon to name a few). Yesterday I was able to call a salesman's bluff when he tried to get me to pay full price on a new washing machine. I had researched online and knew that it was on sale (cause my iPad told me so).

It's all I use for web browsing. Laptop is for running work related MS Windows programs and managing podcast for the iPod.

Yep, it's a mobile device, never expected it to have 20 webpages open at once, does anyone else expect it to?

Maybe you should try the Galaxy Tab and then get on the Galaxy forums and complain about how poorly flash works, screen to small, browser sucks, ect... ???

I was an early adopter who ended up selling mine last summer. It just didn't do enough for me. With that said, I'll also be an early adopter of Gen II since my gripes with this version should be improved come February. I only sold it early on to guarantee that I could recoup my originally dollar investment. I've been able to hold out, but there have been times I've walked into Best Buy and stared longingly. 2 more months. :D

Unless you're gripes are about a camera, 4.2.1 update fixed almost all of mine.

If only there was some way to get flash... would be perfect for me! skyfire doesn't work with megavideo and cloudbrowser kinda sucks

Don´t you know, it is already perfect! It´s the BEST web experience ever just like Apple says! So quit whining!

I am sick of the "but Flash is the only reason the internet exists" arguments. Although I understand that a lack of Flash suport for the iPad does restrict the internet "experience" (seriously, "internet experience" is a marketing whores' pitch line), you must understand that Flash was a) never intended for touch input [with the exception of video playback, the majority of Flash websites I have come across are designed for a combination keyboard and mouse input, not a touch screen], and b) is rarely mobile computing friendly [see the many discussion regarding Flashs' propensity to suck more power than a Dyson sucks air].

You total, total bar-stewards. When they came out, I resisted for a while, and eventually forgot about them, then I bought an MBP.

In the last day or two, interest has been re-ignited. My g/f has said, "Why do you need one? You have the Mac, which is supposedly the best computer in existence (her ribbing me about enthusing about the MBP), you have your phone...what on earth would you use it for?"

I have no answer. Apart from a bit of plaintive bleating, "But it's very cool indeed." Haha!

Her voice of reason cools my mind, but as soon as I read threads like this, my brain starts overheating again and I start justifying it to myself. Hehe.

I thought I'd wait until the 2nd one...but the extra features, although maybe useful, don't seem worth the wait. Will also be changing jobs early next year, and my disposable income will plummet rapidly, as my overall income be about 1/3 of current.

*implodes in complete indecision*

:D

Well, I didn't see the point of the iPad, then I tried a friends iPad, and I still don't see the point of the iPad. For me it's a useless device with limited functions I do not want or need. I also don't want or need an iPhone. But of course it's fine that others enjoy theirs. To each their own.

just curious why you are on an iPad forum then?

Me I love it for mornings and night, and to watch video podcast while working out on exercise equipment.

I at first resisted didn't think I would want one, until of course I saw one in the store. This also proves to all of you that you should never listen to the initial gripes that go on this forum after a product announcement. 9 times out of 10 there is nothing but scum and villainy until people actually see and use something.

A friend of mine was vehemently anti-Apple until he was in the market for a new laptop. After trying a MacBook Pro and realising that this battery was so unbelievably good that it couldn't possibly be from this planet, he bought one.

Few months down the line and the iPad comes out. Useless, piece of overpriced junk with locked down software...yep, he bought one a month ago. Great to see.

When Steve was on stage to announce the iPad, I wholeheartedly mocked it. What use would I have for it? I already have a MBP and an iPhone. Plus, the iPad looked just like my iPhone - an oversized iPhone at that. "I'll never sink my money into what I essentially already have." I remember I said to one of my friends.

Six months later, I'm an iPad owner. I'm a huge bookworm, and although I still haven't fully grasped the whole "e-reader" revolution yet, because I still cherish print books, I have purchased a few e-books for my iPad. I use it to surf the web, type emails (when typing on my iPhone becomes to cumbersome), tweet, and listen to Pandora when I'm reading an e-book.

Needless to say, I have begun using my iPad more than my MBP. The only time that I really find myself using my MBP is to sync up my iPhone and iPad, download mp3's from iTunes or Amazon, or to type up a ridiculously long email. My iPad will never replace my MBP, but it certainly has an everyday use in my life.

I too laughed at the iPad, but after buying one in November for my parents Christmas, I stared at the box, and after an hour, I declared..

'Sod it, it's mine'

I bought them another one :D

yeah count me in also..

thought it was useless when it first came out....month later was on the waiting list...now i cant put it down..

I have an old powerbook ive updated the ram and OS last year and now it only gets used for updates for my IP4 and ipad...

lunch breaks at work i log onto wifi and use ABC player to watch shows that i might have missed...its great.

also bought the rocketfish wireless headset for the gym but i use it on my ipad also..

I believed that Steve Jobs knew it would be a hit from the comments he made before it came out. Jobs is so picky on what they do and don't do that I figured anything they do work on will be successful.

Well, I've only gone and talked myself into it. It is very sleek, very hitech and very cool. Still don't know if I can justify it, but hell. I looked at it in the shop and how it rendered comics... totally sold!

Just registered it.
