I'm confused....

I thought you had to turn your phone
in to get the cheaper price on a new model? I just
bought the 32 3GS & I'm returning it soon to also wait like everyone else.
They told me that at apple cause I see how you can make money
doing this .?

So I will just get hit withthe 10% restock fee right . Called ATT and they said
that they wave the first time start up fee only within 14 days so I'm looking
at $70 or so that I loose for the return. Do u think it's worth it?

Question about selling phone and using another phone

So I was planning on selling my 3gs and buying a 2g or old blackberry but the when I called att they said they would have to change my plan if I did that because it might not work because of the different data type or something and it might reset my upgrade date. Which they will not be able to fix. So my question is do I really have to call them if I switch to a blackberry or 2g or any cheap used att phone if I just pull out my sim card and use it in any cheap phone I can find until the new iPhone come out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once you switch your SIM card from one AT&T phone to another, AT&T can detect which device you are using by the IMEI number and change your data plan accordingly. If you don't want a $30 data plan added to your account, I would not switch your SIM card to a Blackberry.
