Yet another opinion: A 5.4" Pro would be great but I would be happy with a 5.4" non-Pro, with the bee's nose of difference in specs. I have a XS and loving the OLED but the XR would have been great if it was more compact. A 177-gram 5.8" XS is a pain to hold.

There's a notch on my XS? Don't see it except for the times I see the debate around notches. We should have the technologies in that notch.

I’m glad to hear this news.

I’m glad I went with my 6.5 11Pro Max this year to last me next two.

I was not happy of a 5.4 / 6.7 Pro choice only rumor. I made the choice to go from X to 11 Pro Max because of this rumor.

Only time will tell if I down grade from my 6.5 to 6.1 or upgrade even further to 6.7 display.

Smaller notch next year would be nice but Not enough. I’ll probably wait till 2021, love the camera. Sprint will have merged with T-Mobile and 5G will be Actually available to me.

No notch. It doesn’t matter. There are other manufacturers who do such a better job implementing either no notch or a hole punch, and using under screen which is a no brainer or pop up style camera. I don’t really care for FaceID because it has ruined the screen. In reality, FaceID is fine but they need to put the tech in the top bezel area and the speaker there too just as other companies have done. TouchID anywhere under screen gets rid of most of the problem. Number one for me is fix the software. Number two is give me a beautiful uninterrupted display to view the content.
No other manufacturer has a Face ID style implementation without the compromises I mentioned. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

This is how the 5.4” iPhone 12 without Pro look like for 2020 model

An affordable (aka non-Pro) 5.4" iPhone 12 would have my interest. I was planning on getting the iPhone "8SE2", because it was going to be the only affordable phone at a reasonable size, but this really throws a curve ball in my plans if it's true.

It makes sense that the Pro model with extra lenses only for iPhone larger than 5.4”

That’s nothing more than a fictitious render, there’s no evidence pointing that the 2020 iPhone will look anything like that image you posted. [Which probably was Googled.]

It isn't fictitious since there are plenty of manufacturers producing for Samsung or prototype version to Apple.

Bolded: Source? [Also, a render does not make what you said anything evidential, that’s simply a Google image that you found and posted it.]

Also, mostly of what you said makes absolutely no sense. The point is, there’s zero evidence that the notch will be eliminated for 2020.

Hope they don't neuter the 5.4". Give us a great phone in a great size! Not everyone wants to carry tablets around.
I completely agree. I don’t recall Kuo stating that there would be four models and if there would be feature differences between the models, so this report is somewhat of a deviation. I hope this is wrong because the current 5.8” Pro is just a bit too large for my liking. I am happy to go down to 5.4” but I don’t want to sacrifice on Pro-level features. I do fear, however, that Apple will save the fastest millimeter wave technology for the larger devices with their bigger batteries. I can see that being the case, even if I don’t wish it to be true.

I know you like to see every smartphone have a notch screen but that's just imbecile to think Apple is incapable of making the iPhone 12 look like this

Yes, we should all be forced to use the same size iPhone because you don’t like making decisions, sounds great. Let’s have one 9.7” iPad, one 13“ MacBook, one 21.5” iMac and screw anyone else who wants different sizes or specs.
My preference isn't forcing anyone to do anything.

But since you're being so sarcastic:
Do you want an iPad mini?
Or iPad Pro 11"?
Or 12.9"?
Or iPad Air?
Or just classic iPad? Wait, what's the difference between iPad Air and regular iPad?
Do all apps on the regular iPad work with the 11"/12.9"? If not, what happens if I launch it and it's not optimized for 11"/12.9"?
Can you use the Pencil on the regular iPad? iPad Air? Mini? Which pencil are you supposed to use for each model?
Do the old mini cases fit the new iPad Mini?
Does the iPad classic A10 chip support ARKit apps?
Does the iPad classic have true tone display? iPad Air too?
iPad classic doesn't have the neural engine, so what does that mean for me as the user?
Does the iPad mini 12W charger work on the iPad Air/classic?
Are the old iPad Air cases compatible with the new iPad Air? How about the classic iPad cases?
Does the regular iPad keyboard folio work with the iPad Air or are they unique?
Can I use my old iPad chargers to charge the new iPad Pro using a USB-A to USB-C cable?
Does the iPad Air have Promotion display? If not, does that mean my drawings with the Pencil on the Air/regular/mini iPads are less responsive?

I didn’t say the model lineups and the naming schemes were perfect, I was merely pointing out that it’s incredibly unrealistic to suggest that Apple could only have one iPhone or iPad when you consider how big their markets are and the diversity of wants and needs within them. Also, half of these questions would never be considerations for the average consumer, but I’ll let you know if my iPad-toting grandmother ever asks me about the neural engine, TrueTone, or ARKit.

If this is true then it follows the footsteps of Samsung,OnePlus, Huawei etc....refresh may try to hold the hefty price tag for one full year! All mobiles perceived as "dated" in 6 months irrespective of its capabilities due to new models with improved specs continuously hitting the market almost every month....

I'm more interested in OLED across the board than 5G to be honest. Went for the Xs for the OLED, but I'd gladly pay less for an "entry level" iPhone like the 11 if it had OLED, I like the telephoto lens but I don't feel like spending 300 more just for taking some pictures.
A compelling reason to go for the Pro would be a different display technology, maybe they'll put current OLEDs on the cheaper models and new displays, maybe with higher refresh rate, on the Pro. I'd love ProMotion on my iPhone so that would be worth the extra money.
5G is also interesting although I'm not sure I'd take advantage of it immediately, this is something I'd be willing to sacrifice but I guess they'll put the same chip on all new models.

No, a premium 5.4" is much preferred over a 6.1"

Don't force everyone to get giant phones.

Coming from a point of view of the majority who own the 5.8”, going back to a smaller screen size is against why this majority went to the 5.8“ - for the bigger screen over that of the prior gen iPhones.

Then go forward to the 6.7”.

(In case you didn’t guess, there’s no “backward” or “forward” when it comes to mobile device size; there’s only personal preference.)

That is an impractical option, for those happy with the 5.8”.

Understand that the iPhone X hit the nail on the head for many because it allowed enough of single handed use in portrait whilst retaining a decent landscape aspect ratio for emails, webpages, YouTube etc. All in a pocketable package. We lose that when we go to either 5.4” or 6.7”.

Anyway, these are just rumours. Let’s hope there are enough options for all of us.

Apple want you to get the Pro model if you are a professional photographer and every other model specs should be the same except screen size.

What about USB-C?
Precisely. I have my iPad on USB-C. My new headphones will be USB-C and so will my new MacBook Pro. Last thing I need now is another phone with Lightning. One power adapter to charge them all!

Next, to get to charge my Magic Keyboard with USB-C...

Right, that’s my point—people have their own preferences. That was why I was pointing out the fallacy of using the word “backward”. It implies that there is a regressing direction, and a progressing direction. But that’s illogical because people don’t want their phone to perpetually grow (nor shrink). They want an ideal size. But that ideal size differs from person to person, and is as subjective as color.

People went with the 5.8” because it was a flagship. If it was solely about screen size they would’ve gone to the lower-end 6.1” model. And saying the 5.8” allows enough single-handed use is hilarious when you can’t reach the entirety of the screen without doing hand gymnastics with the phone.

I wasn't talking about the names. I'm talking about the several models, especially iPad Air and iPad classic with no clear separation of features against price points.

And both of my parents literally asked what's the difference between iPad and iPad Air. If there was just an iPad and iPad Pro, the average consumer would immediately rule out the pricing of the Pro and grab an iPad instead. But now you have to figure out if the iPad Air or the iPad works for you.

Same with the MacBook vs MacBook Air when it came out. The MacBook Air is more powerful, almost as compact as the MacBook, but the Air is $100 cheaper. Is your granny supposed to grab the more powerful option? But why would she need a more powerful computer? She doesn't, but she also doesn't need to pay $100 more for a less powerful machine. BUT the MacBook is lighter than the Air so she can carry it around easier so maybe that's the computer she needs. BUT WAIT, the MacBook Air has a 720p camera! Granny must love FaceTiming with the kids and she shouldn't use the trash 480p cam on the regular MacBook, right?

Absolute confusion for the average consumer. Apple should have axed the MacBook immediately when the Air came out.
