As this is likely the smallest iPhone since the 2016 SE, I definitely think its worth it for me

Fanbois just got one of their key justifications for removing the charger and EarPods taken from them.

Guess it’s “muh environment” or nothing from here on out.
I prefer to use either multi USB-port charger (like Anker's) or Qi wireless charger. I never take 5W USB charger out of the iPhone box. If I had to buy a USB charger, it certainly won't be Apple's $19 5W USB charger.

As for the EarPods, I suppose it's valuable for some. But $29 for EarPods isn't exactly a ton of money when you are spending $749 and up for iPhone. If the rumor is true and Apple is bumping the internal storage from 64GB to 128GB, I think that's a good trade off especially since we are also getting OLED, 5G, and other goodness.

So serious question here. And I’m not even saying Apple is the good guy here. But why do people here seems to give Apple so much heat when they raise the price. While fashion companies that sells wallets, clothes that charges for thousands are getting by? Almost every single “apple could do this” argument I can use it on the fashion industry...

As stated in another post IMHO its bad optics to raise the price while at the same time providing less. A common occurrance in my line of work is to shrink the container size a little and raise the price at the same time, this is ALWAYS met with scorn by both retailers and consumers. If you shrink the container size then take your price increase 6 months later it mostly goes unnoticed. YMMV

Fashion has nothing to do with anything. Apples prices are high because their costs are high 🤷‍♂️

Feel free to attempt a counter argument, naysayers 🤣🤣🤣

I’ll still probably buy it, but why doesn’t Apple just absorb the cost this time around? Technology only gets cheaper over time? Why can’t they take a slight hit to the profit margins for this model and before they know it, things will settle down? They’ve got to be doing amazing with their magical services like Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple News, and their runaway success with AirPods.

Being slightly sarcastic on the Apple TV+ and News😅
I hear you but then Tim Cook has to face the investors and say "Hey, because we are so great, we absorbed a $50 hit on 60 million phones!" and then they freak out. A dollar here and ten dollars there add up real quick at that scale.

OLED is nice but honestly most consumers wouldn't see a difference so why not just keep going with the LCD panel they've been using all this time? That part I don't get. Maybe what they do instead is bump the trade-in value on the 8, XR and 11 so that the price is offset a little. It would probably only be for the first few months but it would be something.

I was planning on buying my mom the new iPhone when it came out as she’s never had one before, but if it doesn’t come with a charger how is she suppose to charge it? Does that mean I have to buy her a charger separate too? If so this doesn’t make any sense to me.

Maybe Apple expect you to pay extra for one or give her your old charger.

This kind of product nonsense is typical of Cook's Apple.

Still. Maybe no charger will not come to pass and I'm being premature about that specification...

honestly you would fare better buying her an iPhone 11 or even the new SE

I bought my mom the new SE and she loves it

I get it. People think removing the headphones and power brick are HUGE savings per unit. They arent as people have tried to explain. The price Apple sells them for separately is not near their cost to make.

See the XS Max BOM https://technology.informa.com/api/binary/606699 part costs.

The brick, cable, earphones, the 3.5mm adapter that as in the box, and packaging totalled $7.50 all together for all of that. What is the brick and headphones? $3-4 tops? (shows you how much retail markup is too for each in the store)

Yes a lot times tens of millions of units. But not a lot per unit and that $3-4 may not make up the more expensive hardware like 5G modems. For now you have to pay Qualcomm to play until Apple does their own at their own cost. ESPECIALLY if its the spanking new x60 version as rumored.

And yes I get that there are $500 5g phones, but that is a CPU/modem package buying it all from Qualcomm as a "bundle deal," not 1 part, and not the same quality/capability of chips that go into flagship models. And also not leaning on a name like Apple either.

So yes, it sucks, but I would get it. I dont buy 1 random report, but still. Its the same issue when iPhone went OLED and Samsung jacked up panel cost. The supplier holds the leverage the first year if you want their part.

It is a ton of money because its on top of the mountain of money I already have to give them for a phone. This may be another year where I do not buy a phone.

Man what in the world is Apple thinking?? It’s too expensive! Why would anyone buy it if it has no charger.....

so anyways guys what color iPhone 12 should I get?

What is Apple thinking?

£££. They expect customers to foot the bill for their profits and the momentum to £2 trillion.

And they will squeeze the product and customer to do that.

Azrael.

I appreciate your honesty but you are not alone. As soon as Phil Schiller comes up on stage and says "Good Morning every one here is the new iPhone " I'm already looking into my bank account and available credit to purchase this thing!

And, monitor your reaction by heart rate (excitement), ECG (cardiac arrest), hand movement (smacking forehead or reaching for the wallet), etc.

I bought a iPhone 4, 5 and then a 6 'big'. I thought, 'I've given them almost £3 grand for phones. What the hell am I doing?'

My iPhone 6 big will be used until it dies a death.

Then I will use the iPhone 5 which is still working just fine.

that leaves a big gap between the SE at $400 and the 12 at $750. You can slide the 11 down to $600 I guess.

I’ll buy anyway because my phone is 3.5 years old, but that sucks.

It doesn’t matter what Apple does, Fanboys and iSheeps will buy anyway, even in the absence of a charger or earbuds!

Next time they will sell you an empty box for another price increase, and people will still line up...

Yeah, but if they introduce new box colors, I'm in.

They’re not providing less. You can be sure that OLED and 5G costs more than the few bucks Apple will save on the adapter and earphones.
