what about the 17 inch iMacs. Apparently they aren't gonna update those. I hope this isn't true. I want new 17 inch iMacs

My guess would be WWDC would be Leopard only. The iPhone would probably a different thing while iMacs & MBPs would be a third. If they combine the iPhone w/ the iMacs & MBPs into 1 thing, it'll probably focus on the iPhone. Probably something like "Yay iPhone! Whoo! It has all these freat features. [more serious] Oh and we also have a new iMac and MBPs. Now back to the iPhone." The iPhone & Leopard, IMO, would be the big centerpiece (iPhone especially) while the new computers would be on the back burner.

My Assumptions are:

If the Mac Mini isnt updated at WWDC. Its going to go away.
If they do update the Mini, We will see same specs as the Mac Books.

MBPs will be updated either at WWDC, or between now and then.

If the iMacs do get updated, and they do undergo a "redesign" then we will see them released at WWDC. If they are just speed bumps to "Santa Rosa Tech" They might even get released before WWDC.

Mac Pros will be updated as well, possibly another 2.66 Octo Core, and Deffinatly new video cards for the whole line.

Forgive me if I seem rude to the Analysts but, isn't this what a lot of people have been thinking and saying for a while now ?

I do hope we see some good upgrades, we really need them in MBP, Mac Mini, and iMac, and as I've said before I would love to see a headless iMac announced. (or Mac Mini with Santa Rosa, new non-integrated video card)

My Assumptions are:

Mac Pros will be updated as well, possibly another 2.66 Octo Core, and Deffinatly new video cards for the whole line.
Yes, new video card options would be welcome, especially more options for multiple video cards in one machine.

** Crosses finger and toes ** <-- they might hurt by the time WWDC happens but if it will help, it'll be worth the sacrifice lol.

The Mac mini is the only Mac without the Core 2 Duo. When is it going to be upgraded? :(

Shouldn't we at least expect the same specs as the MacBook?

That's what I've been thinking too. I've always thought a slightly larger Mac Mini would make more sense (not to make it a Cube though). More internal room means they can use desktop processors instead of the more expensive portable processors it currently uses and a 3.5" Hard Drive which could actually store decent amounts of data for a reasonable price. This would actually mean a lower cost to Apple so to me anyway it doesn't make logical sense at the size it is.

Well anyway, the lengthy delay for an updated iMac might mean a redesign. Of course it's wishful thinking, but it's been a while. The GPU is also in desperate need of an update for the 20-inch model which as far as I'm aware is where most of the sales are. However, even though it hasn't been updated for a while, the iMac line is still good value for money.

I like the SCV better than the Frisby Golf.

Thanks! Gotta celebrate SC2 somehow ;). Oh, and not to be a complete bastard, but it's "frisbee" and it's of the "Ultimate Frisbee" persuasion, not "Frisbee Golf." If some dude was trying to block my throw in disc golf, I'd be busting some skulls.

... or rather one skull.

... his.

I see where you're going with this statistical improvement, but given the low sample size of Mac refreshes, is it really going to make enough of a difference?

Any statistical analysis is an improvement over taking an average. An average is a weak diagnostic.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but anyone notice that the Amazon $150 MBP rebate cutoff date for purchase is 5/28/07? That's next Monday.

If the FCE deal was any indicator, they'll have a new version announced within a few weeks. Although in the case of FCE, the pro version was announced and the Express version is still unchanged.

the rebates are rolling. when one expires, a new one begins.

Could be that too.

And Amazon put iLife and iWork 07 up for pre order in January.

I think they must be working off inside information.

I think they were just making logical guesses... then Apple told them to cut it out (and quite possibly did the Dave Coulier hand gestures).

On AmazonUK, the base MacBook Pro has a saving of almost £100 and the middle model almost £150...

Rich.

Thanks for the enlightenment on the spelling of frisbee. And sorry, I meant Ultimate, I was just typing without thinking. That would be an intersting variation on frisbee golf though...

My point was that it might not be worth the effort because of the low sample size.

New iMac! New iMac! New iMac! New iMac! New iMac! New iMac! New iMac!

I've got 900MB left on my 4 year old PowerBook and I'm not about to buy a new hard disk.

Maybe, um, delete some useless stuff (there must be *something*)? Freeing up some space may even help with paging!

900MB.... pleanty of space, I could fit almost 900 of my floppy discs for the ol' Apple IIe on that. Anyone have a color adaptor for the IIe ? All those fancy web colors on macrumors get hard to read in shades of green. :p

Definitely get XSlimmer, it saved me 2 gigs, and could do more for you (depending on how many apps you have) :)

how much will these MBP's most likely be? will they just replace the ones currently on the apple site?

I'm assuming you're talking about the price, in which case, Apple's prices remain fairly stable. The price points stay the same, and the specs are adjusted, incorporating newer technology.

The updated machines are usually priced pretty close to the same as current prices.

That would be kind of interesting to have a spot on the MR Buyer's Guide that does show the average price increase for each update; even if it was just to see if Apple was increasing prices to match inflation or not.

http://www.apple-history.com/ Gives some of the prices for most of the recent computers that Apple has released, I suppose if I had time I could gather the data and average it out.

HIGHLY unlikely. WWDC will be all 10.5 and iLfe 2007 with a healthy dose of iPhone hyping since June 11th is close close to the device's launch. They will not overshadow these flagships products with any MORE products, unless they are minor unannounced updates that pop up with the rest once the Apple store comes back online.

I tend to doubt that WWDC will focus on iPhone as much as you think. Isn't third-party development of the iPhone app's not allowed? If so, then there's nothing to really talk about at a Developer's Conference in relation to the iPhone. In that MacBook Pro's are more made for professionals, one would expect a line like that to be upgraded at WWDC. I tend to doubt that the Mini would be updated though, in that it's not a product for professionals. But I could be wrong...

Having 512MB on the GPU isn't really worth it on a laptop like the MBP IMO. But having said that, I am hoping they do because that will mean the cheaper MBP will come with 256MB and that is the version I want to get. :)

I don't understand why that isn't worth it...? There are plenty of gamers/video editors who use laptops, and would love having a GPU like that.

19 days yay.

New iMac cant wait too see the design. Please also show the new LED displays with iSight.

Still sucks have to wait until October for Leopard :(
