Psssttt!! 1500$ here and they will slow it down in a year. Never expected Apple to do this. And apparently, they say they will continue to do this. They have become way too arrogant and believe they can do anything. Hope Jobs is listening!!

I can only speak for myself, I was planning on buying the new iPhone but the high price made me keep my 6S for another year. At the same time I realised that it is waste of money to buy a new phone every two years so I plan to keep my future phones for at least three years from now on. So there you go Apple, thats what you get with your high prices. But I am sure there are still enough people out there who will buy it even at these prices.
I was planning to buy the iPhone 7 last year, and made the decision to wait another year. That was before the price of the iPhone X was known, so Apple's pricing didn't really factor in. See, Apple, that's what you get by letting me get another year older. I'm not as keen to always have the latest gear as I was when I was younger. I got the iPhone X, but I may wait another three years before upgrading again. If you don't want me to wait, you'll find a way to keep me from aging.

This is what ppl see on tv. If you had an iPhone that was working fine. Would you trade it in? And buy a $1000 phone to do this? Probably not. And it’s not cause ppl cannot afford it. It’s cause they won’t shell out money for this and Face ID.

surprised Macrumors published this. It has only been publishing positive stories about Apple or how to guides, like it is in bed with Apple!

Anyways, completely agree with this analyst. Also, some media outlets are publishing stories that demand for wearables is being replaced by home speakers, eluding to wearables are dying. While that may not be true, good to see some places aren't completely Apple's B*t**

Now back to the story, I think Apple is pricing it self out of the market because Tim Cook is in fairy land and completely out of touch with it's customers needs and wants. 10k Apple watch? Iphone X being crazy expensive, macbooks pros needing an army of dongles, macbook being crazy underpowered and one port?

Let's be honest, Steve jobs stole the headlines, but now we hear about real innovation from Jeff B and Elon Musk. Tim Cook is a failure, and Apple's best years are far behind. Apple is a fashion company now, Andriod is now for tech users, and windows is back on the rise. All because Tim is choking the golden hen to make more profits

The price for IphoneX is insane, and Tim can shove it same place he keeps his 10k watch and dongles

You're right, it is expensive. And I think that's why Apple offered the iPhone 8 under the iPhone X. They realize iPhone X is not for everyone given the price point and as good as the iPhone X is, the iPhone 8 is still a secondary option for consumers that want a similar form factor and touch ID.

I disagree. I think they only released the 8, to justify the huge price jump on the X.

The X could have been a straight replacement for last years 7 plus, with a small price jump (say 50 bucks)

Alongside this, they could have released a 7s and 7s plus which could have just added wireless charging

This is the new Apple strategy at play. IPad Pro 9.5 did the exact same thing - which again could easily have been an iPad Air 3 for the same pricing

X is a great phone, but as Steve said in the past, there’s a limit that you can’t pass.

You can’t compare the Note with a stylus and 6.3 inch display to an iPhone X.

Actually I can because at the end of the day a phone is a phone. You same folks who are cryin about the “Era of the thousand dollar” phone being a flop yet the Note 8 gets a hall pass from that?

Even if Apple had a 6.3 phone with a pencil folks would still be upset with the price tag because for some reason any time Apple releases something with a high price point there is a sense of entitlement of how they should be beholden to the people and make things cheaper.

Or, you know, the fact Apple ramped up production to meet holiday demand for once.

The price is high but this narrative of too high is getting old.
Getting old, you say? Then you should stop posting 1400 messages since oct 2016 and get on with your life. This stupid forum will carry on without you, fear not. I shall sacrifice mine own sanity and increase my waffle in your stead.

Bring on the iPhone X Plus

People will still complain about the price for that saying they were priced out and that it should be cheaper.

Don’t misunderstand me I not wealthy or anywhere close but I don’t mind not having coffee every day and going out to dinner twice a week if it means I can pay for my gadgets.

I don’t have kids or spouse so pretty much I can dispose my income on tech and not really have to justify it to anyone.

Predicted this practically on day 1. Initial high demand from Apple and tech fans who must have the latest and greatest no matter what, but your every day buyer will settle for a cheaper model.

It was the same with the Plus. Yes, it was over £1k but the average selling price for all iPhones shows most people choose a cheaper model.

There is a good chance though that Apples pricing arrogance put people off full stop though. It has me this year.

I went through phases with the X, first I didn't want it cause I hated the notch, then it came out and I wanted it really bad, then I got it and after an hour or so I realized its the same phone just bigger. As more people see them IRL they probably aren't that easily swayed to pay $1k for the same old stuff. FaceID was slower that TouchID, the screen viewing angles aren't as good, and its fat and heavy. Not a good combination for such a costly device.

That’s not it. No one is paying $1000 to send Animoji all day long. Plus the note has much more features than the IPhone X. The problem with the note is it runs Android. So I wouldn’t buy that either.

Actually that is it and it’s rather silly to say that all the device is capable of doing is sending Animoji. Better camera, OLED display, somewhat larger display.

So buy your definition if the sum of iPhone X is just in Animoji then the sum of the Note 8 is just a screen with a pen.

Wrong on both fronts.

Ha! We’ve been talking this thing all along and we joke about it. We thought Apple is stupid enough to do such thing. Well I guess there’s still people that no matter what Apple throws in there, even a peeble and sell it for $200 somebody is gonna buy it. Where are these people from I’ve been an anything Apple product and justify their pricing to be just fine. Back in the days all I hear people say they’re expensive and for me it’s always worth it. Now that I thought that freakin phone is expensive some people actually buy them. And also the current situation of Apple now and customer service is not even close back then. I can just walk-in and they just take care of me that’s why I thought paying a little bit more is fine with me. There’s no such thing anymore and have to freakin wait for days or weeks to get an appointment. When you get there it feels like you’re scamming them and hesitate if you are qualified for the warranty. It’s just not the same and not worth $1000 for the device and anything comes with it.

Please don't mistake 'not being able to find anyone dull enough to listen to me justify it except the people on MR forums' for not having to justify it to anyone. It's quite different. Ps fascinating anecdote.

That’s not the only commercial they have. There are many others as well about the Camera, Face ID. Stop trying to use alternative facts to justify your point because it’s not working.

So color me confused but the Note is still in the 950 and 960 price range which with the 10 percent sales tax where I live pushes it to over 1000.00.

Yet the iPhone X which has all types of new camera sensors etc is priced too high? The only new change for the Note were the dual cameras which the iPhone 7 Plus already had.

I just see a bit of bias that’s all.

You will be passing on many of the future iterations. With Apple there is no bringing back old features.

Touch ID is dead.

RIP Touch ID

No incentive for you, maybe.

For me, upgrading from the iPhone 6+, I really appreciate the camera improvements, Face Id, 3D Touch, Live Photos, the OLED display, and the speed increases.

The iPhone X runs the "same" iOS as my three-year-old iPhone 6+, but it really feels like a new phone to me. As I said, that's just me. You may not need or want any of the new features, so your old phone is good enough. But not good enough for me.

It feels new because you just bought it, it is new. I upgraded from a 6 a few weeks ago to a 7+. The X just doesn't stand out to me in any fashion reasonable enough to drop $1000 on it.
