Yeah they really make it tough by having the guys occasionally sneak up the sides. For me I felt it to be most difficult when the RPGs started hitting - they come at such a high frequency. Need to grab that sniper rifle and knock off those guys very quickly.

I just ran to the stairs on the left side (when facing visari's office) and threw a few grenades over. The gas lamps make the explosions mush larger and effective, clearing out a huge area.

Watch the bridge area, they will keep coming at you unless you advance. Keep moving forward!!

They are in Visari's palace against walls or pillars, though sometimes just out in the middle of the floor. They look kinda fancy, but you can shoot the side plates off and expose a tank of some sort under the lamp part. The tank is explosive, of course. I looked for a pic, but didnt find any. There are two on the floor to your left and right as you enter the room where you fight Radec and his troops. There are a ton in that room elsewhere too.

Hmmm I'm killzone'd out right now. maybe i'll replay that level to see what you're talking about. Sounds like those would have made my life easier the first time around!

This was the hardest part of the whole game. I ended up grabbing a grenade launcher and hitting them from one of the sides where I could actually take cover.

Just checking - has anyone finished this on the hardest ("Elite", I think) setting?

Ouch. My pride is taking a serious battering trying to finish it. I can get as far as the fight in Visari's palace where the guys with knifes rush at you from both sides. I can get a few, but when I reload...

Any hints/tips? (No cheats :p)

Damnit my copy is sitting there and hasn't even been played. Just two more weeks of this damn thesis.

I finished Elite before i went online (i suck at online, lol, although i seem to be doing alright in KZ2). Alot of the Radec battle comes down to luck. You need Rico to not be a dumbass, which is a crapshoot. Learn the timing of the waves of soldiers. Iirc, Radec says something right before they rush in, so get yourself behind some cover and try to pick them off as they run down the stairs and jump the railing. Even if you only soften them up it will be much easier when they get close to you. I had to play that battle about a billion times, and most of them i just ran in and melee'd the knife guys. One hit knocks them off balance then you can spray them down with your assault rifle. Run around him while you are shooting and find where the other knife guy is and prepare to do the same thing again if possible. If you cant get to him safely then just run around the center statue and take out the normal soldiers until you can get the knife guy. It took me two days just to get to the part where the doors open to the balcony, then another 2 days to kill Radec. Its a tough game, but if you keep track of your tactics and learn what works and what fails you can get it done.

Been playing this a lot recently....

Going through the campaign on the normal dificulty, and its providing quite a challenge for me.

And the online is great.

My only complaint, is the view, or lack of it, so to speak.

It seems that you get a really narrow field of view, almost as if the 'camera' is zoomed in slightly.

Not enough to ruin the game by any means, but its noticable.

I beat this game right after it came out - just was glued to it all weekend. I lent it to my brother and I watched him play through it last weekend... man... that game was so sweet... can't wait for KZ3 :D
