I have an M8 and I am thinking of getting an iphone 6 too. Here is my dilemma though -

Last year when I had iPhone 5S, I was often missing notifications of new emails, new whatsapp messages etc. If I open the app, only then I would get latest mails/messages etc, else if phone has screen off, it wont update. I did check all the settings and nothing was done to put my wifi or data to go to sleep mode, but it really bugged me. This was the only reason I got HTC M8

Has anybody else experienced this ? How are things now ?

P.S - In ios whatsapp, can you now select multiple messages to forward ? I guess you have to select and forward one by one ?

Please advise!

Thanks everyone
Message and mail notifications on iOS are working just fine. And they were with the iPhone 5S too.

I don't know why you experienced such issues...

Apple Maps = wow pleasantly surprised.

I have been a hardcore Google Maps guy for 5+ years, and when I got the iPhone 6 Plus, I was afraid to try the default Maps on the iPhone, thinking it would suck and not work, per the old horror stories when iOS 6 first released Maps couple years ago.

Anyways, I gave it a go yesterday on my way to a project site, and it worked flawlessly, really great. Turn by turn was spot on. The voice was loud and clear easy to understand. The visuals were done well. Overall very impressed.

So what is "Maps" ? Is it still the Apple made maps program, or is it a Google Maps based app ?

It's Apple made maps app. Not sure why you're confused since you clearly called it Apple Maps in your post.

Apple Maps may be functional now a days, but Goolge Maps still crushes it in terms of features (lane guidance, transit directions, street view just to name a few). And Google's maps are much more detailed. I was visiting a buddy of mine last night and Apple Maps didn't even have his apartment complex, a large church, and a creek nearby on the map. Google not only had the church and the creek, the the map even included the walking trails that run through the area.

At this point, the only thing Apple Maps has going for it is night mode and integration with iOS. Both of these or nice, but I'd still take Google Maps any day of the week.

I want widgets, I want a custom icon pack, I want to move my app icons anywhere I feel like it, I want the dock to be transparent and have 5 apps, and just like to have it setup different and my own way.
Please don't get me wrong, as my intention is not to offend.

Why exactly did you buy an iPhone? Its obvious you like to customize. Android with it's plethora of custom Roms, and launcher armies, themes, is the one true king of customization.
iPhone does some customization, but it's nowhere as smooth and straight forward.
If you are in the 14 day return period, I would suggest you to return the device and get an Android. The nexus 6 looks great, I hear Sony is building the Nexus 5 2nd gen.

No offense taken.

Did you read all my posts in this entire thread ? Especially the last couple of pages ?

I've actually gotten very comfortable with iOS 8 and like it.

Sorry about that actually i didn't. But good to know that you are loving it as well.

I actually have both an iPhone and an Android, and customize them both, but use iPhone for the apps, and Android for the cheap thrills of heavy customising. :D
Cheers

Unsure if he is just referring to PUSH not working, but I have a strange issue (and this was the same with my 5S, and maybe 5 before it, though I don't remember that far back) where my mail wouldstop pushing. I had to manually open the mail app to fix it.

I use icloud mail (have other mail forwarding) so I know there should't be any issues there. I would say this happens once every month or so. It's strange to wake up in the morning without emails, so when that happens (albeit sometimes legitimately) I just load the mail app to see what's up.

I've posted about it. A few others reported similar issues. But I neverfound an answer.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Is it the same with iphone 6 too ?

I tried out the iPhone 5 back when Straight Talk offered it limited to 3G-only on Verizon. After a month, I wanted Android back. I found that in order for the iPhone to not vibrate during phone calls, you have to either turn off vibrate entirely or turn it off app by app. There was no intuitive way for it to know to be quiet during calls. Is that still happening?

Strange enough. I have three emails set up on my iPhone, one push and two fetched every hour, and they are working flawlessly.

There is nothing strange about that at all. My mothers and wife's email work fine too. As does mine most of the time. Unsure what the deal is but its very minor. As I said, it has been happening since the 5S at least. Entirely possible there is something in my backup/restore file causing it. It's not bothersome enough for me to set up as a brand new phone.

It could be, since I set my iPhone as new every time I bought a new one (thus every year).

I too made the switch on Friday 2/13. I have been android freak as long as I can remember. I currently own the m8,G3,note 4 , and nexus 7 2013. I have switched to the iPhone 5 and couldn't stand it.

My android phones were starting to bother me, lollipop seemed to have left a sour taste in my mouth. My m8 never had any issues till I updated. I do not root just use stock and after update I just got aggravated.

So on Friday I went into best buy and picked up a space grey 64gb 6plus and am loving it Never thought I could like a I device like this. My wife has an iPad and iPhone 6, never really cared for them. I started using this phone and am amazed with how smoothly it runs. My G3 camera was great , this one is outstanding to say the least. Reception is better as well, none of my androids would work in certain areas but the iPhone does.

I do not like the fact that if I want to use a different ringtone besides the stock ones that I have to connect to my computer to get it. Also do not like how zooming in on web pages is limited. Whatever browser I used on android I could zoom in on any site, I have tried a few browsers since Friday and am not seeing that option. That said, I like Mercury browser the best so far.

Enough rambling , just wanted to share my experience.

Explain the zooming issue, I can zoom anything and everything

For instance , cannot zoom when I'm on Facebook , cnet,Google search just to name a few. There are more those are just a few. Usually my androids I would double tap to zoom on those pages or pinch to zoom using any browser. I was using chrome regularly , tried it here with chrome and couldn't enlarge

I don't know about Facebook, but I can usually zoom everything on both Safari and Mercury.

You can create ringtones from MP3 files right in GarageBand on the iPhone. It's worth noting that there is a bug I confirmed with Apple support that makes it impossible to delete a ringtone created this way. After creating it, it'll always be on your ringtone list until you restore from an older backup or wipe it completely.
