You could but it isn't supported on iOS. Only the latest LG watch and all of the watches getting ready to be announced are supported.
Damn. I just watched the Verge video. I'm going to get the ZenWatch then. I like the design.

Android is googles trojan horse to get data from you to provide ads for stuff you like. Nothing more. No offence but anyone dumb enough
How many "pos android watches" have you tried on the iPhone? How about reserve judgment until a review actually comes out/you try it yourself. Don't let blind allegiance to a brand get in the way of trying other options.

I wouldn't buy any android device at all. I don't want google to succeed as all they want to do is get all the info from you and shove ads in your face and make a bleep load of money from your info.

The new Moto 360 should come out very, very soon
Yep exactly! Moto Sport was just announced so it's coming. I have an Apple Watch but the Moto360 just looks so nice, I'll have to go check one out soon. Won't switch right away but I do like having options now.

For now it seems mostly notifications (which are better supported from official Google apps) and some built-in apps. I'm guessing they will eventually release an iOS compatible SDK at some point.

But that's still not going to help me with iMessages & Notifications, right?
Google says my favorite apps, but do the mean that? or do they mean my favorite Google apps?

Gary

And iOS is Apple's trojan horse of locking you in their ecosystem so you have to pay hundreds of dollars more on hardware than you otherwise would do.

It works both ways.

And why would I buy one of those to use with the iPhone? Maybe I am missing something here.
There may be some folks who have an aehetic preference for an Android watch. atches are jewlry as much as they are functional. I personally think all smartwatches are a bit clunky, and while Apple Watch is far from the bottom of my list if I HAD to choose, from an aesthetic perspective, it's also not at the top.

It's also worth noting that there are people out there who use multiple platforms. If I use both Android and iOS, and I am considering a watch, this may push me to get Android wear simply because it is compatible with both operating systems.

I almost bought a Moto 360 on a Best Buy deal that would have made it $80 3 months ago. Then saving it for this day. But I couldn't do it because of the pixelated screen. Not horrible but more like a non-retina Ipad mini.
good thing you didn't.
If you read the OP... won't work with 360

At least I don't get any crap in my inbox from Apple and I know apple cares about my privacy. When I was with gmail, I must've got at least 50 spam messages a day with Gmail. with my icloud email address, I maybe get 10 a week.

Sure. Apple builds products. So Apple "limited" iMessage (to take one example) to iOS isn't really because Apple are mean, it's because iMessage is a feature of iPhone.

Google builds internet services. As long as you're using it's services, it doesn't mind which platform you run on. Hangouts (to take another example) is as product in and of itself (rather than just a feature of Android), so they make sure Hangouts is as widely available as possible (Android, iOS and the web).
Exactly. Google is selling services. Apple is selling hardware.

So you'll get a nice and relatively expensive Android Wear smart watch to use with your iPhone that can do as much paired with an iOS device as my original Pebble...

No interactive notifications and a set of features that barely excell those of a regular timepiece since iOS doesn't allow any further functionality.

Since you've thrown logic out the window dozens of posts ago anyway - by your post then that must mean Gmail has a much better spam filter! Full hyperbole ahead!

Goes against the whole "Android phones are about choice."

With an iPhone, I haven't limited myself to only choosing phones running Android. And now, I get a much wider selection of smartwatches to choose from. Lovely. :)

how exactly do you expect google to break apples walled garden methodology? and you dont get a much wider selection of smartwatches, you get one more

And I'm just asking about the basics in terms of notifications. Obviously, this isn't going to support apps that actually interact with the Apple Watch like Star Walk or solitaire...

This is going to be confusing for people when they see "compatible with iPhone"...
And post bad reviews, "I couldn't get it to work with my watch!"

Gary

Looks like the older Wear watches will not be compatible (Just the newer ones). The LG Urbane watch is the only watch on sale at the moment that is currently supported and on sale and it's absolutely gorgeous (Blows away the Apple Watch IMO). Circular screens FTW! Enjoy! :)
I like my watches like my TV, not round. ;)

This will probably be about as compatible as the Pebble is with iOS. Sure, it technically works, but only for the most basic stuff, and some of the time.

Why is half that round screen green? Seems like a waste of real estate, unless the longer the message the more real estate it fills up on the screen?
Yes, definitely style over function. Wait a minute, does this mean that Ive's do-no-evil twin designs Android watches?
