Huh, the new Huawei watch is rumored to be priced from $300-$800. And LG is releasing a gold plated Urbane for $1200.
Often is not the same as "I picked two high end models to try and prove a point". Google came out and said their futuredevices compatible with iOS will be in the $100-$400 range. With apple watch my entry level choice is $350. $100 and $350 are very different things.

This is awesome. Sure, it doesn't have the integration of the Apple Watch, but the Android Wear devices have a better look than the Pebble for sure.

This is pretty huge. Android has some really nice looking watches coming out. You could see a huge price drop in Apple Watch coming up given the amount of competition heading its way.

The new 360 looks decent, as do a few others.

This wearable category is just getting started. Should be an interesting new few years.

Also, didn't Apple just hire some android engineers? Pretty sure Apple is going to do the same thing (put Apple watch on android).

At least I don't get any crap in my inbox from Apple and I know apple cares about my privacy. When I was with gmail, I must've got at least 50 spam messages a day with Gmail. with my icloud email address, I maybe get 10 a week.
I honestly think you are makinh connections that aren't there. I have been using gmail for probably ten years now. The spam that I get is mostly from the couponing that we do (my choice) and I am able to quickly unsubscribe from these newelstters. Google doesn't sell your email address to people. If they did, you would be getting many times more spam than 50 per day. Can you imagine how many emails they could sell to every single compnay that ever wanted an email? They do sell your data, no doubt, but not in the way you seem to be implying.

Goes against the whole "Android phones are about choice."

With an iPhone, I haven't limited myself to only choosing phones running Android. And now, I get a much wider selection of smartwatches to choose from. Lovely. :)
How does making it compatible on another platform go against "Android phones are about choice." I'm confused.

I agree they aren't selling your gmail address, but I bet you that they scan every email that comes in to find products you like and show you curated ads. No offence but I just hate android and a lot of what google does. I been in that ecosystem before and glad I got out.

And iOS is Apple's trojan horse of locking you in their ecosystem so you have to pay hundreds of dollars more on hardware than you otherwise would do.

LOL. My Galaxy S5 was about the same as the iPhone 5s. My iPhone 6+ costs about the same as a Note 4 or 5. Sure if you want some low end POS, Android is there for you. Been there, done that and it's not fun.

Apple won't drop the price because they own the space. Android Wear is a bust and an IOS app isn't going to change that.

In my experience, Android Wear is a cluster cuss. Had no idea what I was supposed to do half the time to get anywhere (was using a Moto 360). Happy that people will have a choice, but I'll stick with my Apple Watch.

Give me a link to a $100 Android Wear device that is going to be compatible with iOS. The rumored entry price for the Huawei watch is $300.

Apple should never allow any android POS watch be available to talk to any iOS device.

Right because a big black bar at the bottom of a circular screen is a proper smart watch.

black bars? not exactly. We need to introduce you to something called freedom of choice. If you don't like something you can buy something else. So stop complaining cause choice is better for everyone. Not everyone wants to buy a square watch. I personally don't like the apple watch looks and especially the cost. If I can get something that costs less and looks better then everybody wins.

Sure, and while they are at it, Apple should immediately discontinue iTunes for Windows, only allow Macs and iDevices to work with Airport base stations and limit the web accessible through Safari to family-friendly entertainment sites (Disney) and a handful of Apple-approved rumour blogs.

Apple should never allow Android-using heathens to be able to talk to iOS users. Doing so will irreversibly damage the reality distortion field and ruin customer experience.

Thats the upcoming Huawei watch, not the Moto 360, which has a "flat tire" black bar at the bottom to house some of the display internals and sensors. To a lot of people, the 'flat tire' is just, ugly and unacceptable. but in the end it's all subjective.

That Huawei watch though, I'm likely buying it. just waiting on more details like Battery life. But so far, that is simply the nicest looking (in my subjective opinion) smart watch that will be available.

This is the Moto 360 and it's "Flat tire" that people are talking about

You mean like how Apple has lowered the price of iPhone because of all the competition in the Android space? This will essentially have similar functionality to Pebble. I don't see evidence that Pebble is taking away share from Watch. As far as Apple bringing the Watch to Android, I just don't see it happening. Apple has next to no software on Android, Watch software looks nothing like Android. So what Android user would even want an Watch?

Good for people to have options, but I'm guessing Android wear devices would work better for people with Android smartphones. I guess some people want the best of both though.

Sure. Apple builds products. So Apple "limited" iMessage (to take one example) to iOS isn't really because Apple are mean, it's because iMessage is a feature of iPhone.

Google builds internet services. As long as you're using it's services, it doesn't mind which platform you run on. Hangouts (to take another example) is as product in and of itself (rather than just a feature of Android), so they make sure Hangouts is as widely available as possible (Android, iOS and the web).

I understand that. I was simply pointing out the original statement is misguided. The Apple Watch won't work with Android because Apple won't let it. This has nothing to do with iOS being more open than Android.

And iOS is Apple's trojan horse of locking you in their ecosystem so you have to pay hundreds of dollars more on hardware than you otherwise would do.

It works both ways.

Hundreds more?

NFC on android wear?
Ability to make calls?
Ability to hear sound?
8GB of storage instead of 4GB?
326dpi full Rgb oled screen?
Tooless interchangeable bands?

It woulds be easy to drop in some slam about Android and cheap copies, but I won't
The price is good and frankly, I think most of those watches look better than the Apple Watch. If mI were interested in a smart watch I'd give these a serious look.
