Don’t like that? Start you own tech company, and see how large you can grow it.

The old don't let the door hit you on the way out..... yeah I admit I'm not a fan of a £1150 iPhone , you are fine with that ? You are just happy handing over more and more year by year....? Interesting , would love you as a customer of my company :)

What a powerful woman! Congratulations on renaming Apple Stores to Apple Town Centers. I wonder what the twelve women above her have done to deserve their spot?

Oh the lady who "always" wears the trench coat.

It's like Wonder Woman vs Wonder Grandma .......

She came off very condescending, I don't buy into her "town square" crap. Retail brick and mortar stores should be all about displaying your products, when in a Apple store you have no clue as to what is for sale and what is someone's own personal equipment. I know that Apple generates a ton of revenue at their stores, I just am not comfortable in their type of environment.

Lol, no one knows what a town square is yet she thinks Apple's retail stores are. Most Apple stores I have been too are noisy and crowded with broke teens just playing around for no reason at all.

Interestingly enough, the Microsoft store is quite Serene and a much better experience.

noone gets hired with a $60 million bonus and then doesn't feel a great urge to change things up. so there is a risk that she's changing stuff just for the sake of change.

having said that, the old apple store model was indeed aging, and i feel she has done a great job formulating a new vision and executing what the retail stores should look like.

i feel it's a natural evolution of the apple store. traditional stores are all about the products.
apple stores changed that by making it about the experience. i remember the old apple stores would have a video making section...a music making section....rather than a macbook section or a mac pro section.

that idea got lost a bit in recent years.

i feel the town square idea is trying to get back to that experience>products paradigm.

the pressure is now on the products team to make stuff that actually has real practical purpose and practical superiority that Angela can then show off. Dongles don't look good on display.

I can thank her for all of the innovation she's brought to my local Apple Town Square.

Apple can make things up all they want, in the end however, the general public is always going to say "Let's run up to the Apple Store." They are not going to say "Let's run up to the Apple Town Square."
#APPLE STORES

Brilliant ! You can all thank her for a £999 iPhone.... bargain compared to high end watch bands ;)

I don't think she was a good hire , she brought a different way of thinking to apple, that they should charge more , and fashion was more important than tech innovation.
Without commenting on your first few statements, the elitist, high-fashion, exclusivity angle of 'Angela's Apple' appeals to the snob in all of us. That part of her strategy is paying off very well.

Having said that, I do miss the genius bars as they used to exist, but I can see how they don't fit into Angela's vision.

With all due respect, I couldn't take her seriously after she said a few months ago that she wanted Apple Stores to be a meeting place. [Paraphrasing] "Where, maybe one day, instead of saying, "Let's meet at Starbucks," the kids will be saying, 'Let's meet at the Apple Store.'"

Ha! I wish I wasn't serious!

They hired her because that's the direction Apple wanted to go. Apple wanted to be more about form over function, fashion over tech... pricing certainly plays a big part in it. It always has been this way. Apple was always the "hip" and more fashionable. Apple wants to remain in the high end electronic market. It is part of their success story over all the Microsoft and android... because they are different from them.

You raise a valid point and I agree, there is the snob element in apple product ownership , I agree.

I'm a tech / design snob , though have little time for fashion , alas , apple is moving to fashion over function. So be it, it's the post jobs era.

Still remember when apple was for the average consumer , now it's becoming more and more elite each year, I can't think of anyone in the execs more removed from the average punter than Angela, she is an ultimate snob who has tought the other execs that upselling your brand is easier than getting to the top say through innovation. Apple is becoming a fashion brand very fast, and yeah, not my apple year by year. My issue

I'd argue apple was different , cause they tried to do it right , never cause they aimed at being more fashionable over windows or android.

The "it just works" slogan made so much sense, that does not apply anymore . Now is just hip and cool.

she is so fake - eyes hiding - not a good choice for apple
Well, being on stage for a major Apple event might be nerve-wracking. Go watch Tim Cook’s first appearances, they weren’t exactly Jobsian-level but now he’s great. And Schiller and Cue are way too comfortable now, they’re like Apple’s lounge club act.

I believe they use the "it just works" to brand themselves different from the competitors. Apple is very successful and marketing and branding a common trait shared with successful high end products. They also price themselves higher than the competition (from the beginning) and they raise their prices incrementally and consistently. They make their product quite exclusive too... making it hard to get. these are all marketing strategies implemented by the high end fashion industry as well.

It's like she's a PR stunt by Apple to satisfy some agenda. She came across as kind of an idiot on stage that Cook finally let her on. It was easy to see why they waited so long to trot her out there.

She's a horrible presenter. She spent the entire keynote reading off the teleprompter.

I don't get why people dislike her so much. She is a copetent woman. She did a great job at Burberry's. At Apple she has been alright.
For me the worst Apple exec is Eddy Cue. That guy is a douchebag.

I'm not entirely sure about your authenticity quote, but her style is fitting, she was the CEO of Burberry from 2006 to 2014. And as a top executive at Apple, I would say she holds herself well with her appearance and style.

It's not really about me. It's a leadership thing. Executives will dress down in order to remove a filter the audience will have. Most of the Apple guys do it, made famous by Stevie J. She may have been CEO of Burberry, a fashion company where keynotes weren't about authenticity. Tech companies have always done better by relating to common people. We can agree to disagree. Most of Apple's executives dress down so not sure where you're going with that.

Actually, I was referring to your 'authenticity' quote, which has nothing to do with how someome presents themselves on stage or off. You're conflating two different things. Nor was I commenting on any other executive style either. I'm simply stating that she transitioned from a fashion company to a tech company, I feel that she looks professional all the time, given where her background came from and I can appreciate they all have their own Preferences of style.
